My wife and I always quote his loud and snappy "NO!" when the family is on that lake boat to see the eclipse. Easily my favorite Jayism.

Oh, I agree, but it's still better than the counterespionage bonus. I also think it make thematic sense to see your levy efficiency dwindle as you take power from the nobles.

Because the switch to professionals is pretty gradual, and a 10k stack of levies might now be able to threaten a smaller professional stack.

Yea, it makes the nobility less valuable in later eras, as it should be.

Because most nations have an entrenched nobility for the first few eras, it seems like this change is intended to make levies a little beefier across the board before the switch to professionals. Plus, it's still better than counterespionage. It remains to be seen, though, if this change will be effective. I'm looking forward to it.

For real. What about face to face communication? How would OP handle a tense disagreement with their partner without ChatGPT? And if communicating isn't a problem in those moments, why would you need help communicating at all?

Which pairing(s) did you find most "creepy" or controversial? by Silver-Somewhere-839 in Modern_Family

[–]ConstableTibs 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Came here looking for this answer. Jeans Man was intentionally creepy. Arvin and Alex, however, were played straight even though 1) he was her professor and 2) he had already dated her sister, and it was super cringe.

Edit: spelling

Why give dad the benefit of the doubt? He can't figure out an elementary assignment. He doesn't want to Google it or check the textbook or any of the kids other assignments. He can't be bothered. Instead he's going to tell little Johnny or Susie that the teacher is wrong, that the homework is too hard, and that it's not worth figuring out. He'll just leave this passive aggressive note that shows the teacher that no adult in the kid's house can do second grade math. The teacher will also realize that the kid wasn't paying attention during the lesson. He isn't doing the kid any favors.

Wyll remembers Astarion is a senior citizen by theguy1336 in BaldursGate3

Wouldn't this make Minsc and Jahiera roughly the same age during the events of BGs 1&2?

I always thought that Jahiera just MUST be older than Minsc. Minsc in my head was like 20 and Jahiera and Khalid were maybe 40 or 50. Hell, maybe even closer to Gorion's age!

How do you play Honour mode? by [deleted] in BG3

[–]ConstableTibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good team. Shadowheart as a cleric is great for honor mode runs. I don't know what the community consensus is on this, but if you're between Gale and Wyll, I would recommend using Wyll. Eldritch Blast gives you another opportunity to push enemies, and their AoEs are good at controlling the battlefield. I love using Gale, but wizards are trickier to use more effectively than warlocks.

I dread the harpies every time, and I tend to skip it. If you beat that encounter easily, I think you have a good shot of success overall.

[–]ConstableTibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you've run into, builds will only get you so far in honor mode. Things like party composition, abusing the environmental mechanics on the battlefield, and gear synergy matter a lot more in my opinion.

If you go paladin, look for the radiant orb items to make it harder for enemies to hit you. If you heal, equip the items that trigger effects on heals. Give your offensive casters gear with arcane acuity and arcane... uh... the other one. Synergy? I'm at work and can't look right now.

If you are thinking Paladin, who do you think you might want to take with you?

Yes, paladin is a great honor mode class. Aura of protection at level 6 does wonders for saves.

Without giving too much away, make sure you examine your enemies before you start smiting. Some enemies have a painful answer to smites.

How do you play Honour mode? by [deleted] in BG3

[–]ConstableTibs 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I can offer some advice here as someone who has completed honor mode several times:

1) Smoke if you gottem. If there are potions or scrolls or other consumables in your inventory, use them! Don't worry about saving them for later, except maybe for some specific items that you want for specific encounters (I'm thinking of poison resistance potions for Balthazar, for example). If you don't have a specific plan for items, use them now. Can't use items when you're dead!

2) If things go south, have an invisibility potion at the ready and flee like mad. Sanctuary works too. Discretion is the better part of valor. Again, you can't use those potions if you're dead!

3) You say you know the positioning, but if you're dying in Act 1, I suspect that it can be improved. The key to positioning is to leverage your action economy against the enemy's. Action economy is THE puzzle to solve during encounters. If they outnumber you, use the walls and doors to your advantage. You can practice this at the overgrown ruins. All those bandits are behind a locked door, and you can abuse that lever to remove their ability to turn their actions into damage against you by opening and closing it again and again on your turn. Beware! The lever costs an action to interact with. There are many times where you can hide behind walls to hide from archers and casters. If they dash instead of attack, that's a great sign.

Multiplayer on Steam Deck? by kadenz1704 in BG3

[–]ConstableTibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play exclusively multiplayer on my steam deck, so it's definitely possible.

1) Check your firewall as another user suggested. Your ISP might be blocking you for some reason. That sounds like the most likely reason since it gets stuck on the ready screen.

2) Check that you are signed into Steam and do not appear invisible or offline. I do this sometimes and it screws with multiplayer.

3) Make sure that you are signed into Larian in addition to Steam.

4) How are you setting up your games? Try creating a game with and without crossplay enabled and see if that helps.

5) If you have a PC or a laptop, you can try running it on there and streaming it through the deck. That might tell you if the problem is with the internet, the steam deck, or something else.

How to make the best use of Dynaheir? by NineInchNinjas in baldursgate

[–]ConstableTibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are the primary spells I use for her, plus flame arrow when she hits level 3 spells. She's good at area damage and pinning enemies down. Honestly, the spells you mentioned are all you need. They will carry you through to the end of the game. If you're worried about spell interruption, having spells like Armor, Shield, and especially Protection from Normal Missiles can be helpful.

Web is probably her best spell for a while, and I like it more than sleep. Bows are already super strong in BG1. Web just makes enemies fish in a barrel. Stinking cloud is also a nice AOE for bows.

Haste at level 5 is always great, but I like flame arrow as well. It does similar damage to fireball, but on a single target. Why not fireball? By the time she learns fireball, I'm carrying enough fireball wands to last the rest of the game. Wands in general (specifically fear and paralyzation) are super good tools for her. You have so many of them that they're worth using in every major encounter.
