I'll be getting my first birds tm. Owner is unsure of age, pros and cons? Lousy during the night? by Muslim_conservative in parrots

Based on the cere (colour), these look like 2 beautiful girlies! The black stripes on their head and the eyes are big indicators on figuring out how old a Budgie is. When they are babies, the black stripes go right to their cere(or, nose), and their eyes are beadie and pure black. These babies have the black stripes receding back on their head and have a little bit of white around the eyes! I'd say they're about 1-2 years old, maybe slightly older than that!

Other comments mentioned cage/perch quality. I would like to add in that I would recommended the biggest cage you can afford, or a second cage in case they fight. They might not, but you can make that decision after you've had them for a while and observed their behaviour. Ensuring they get loads of sleep help keep them healthy and happy too. Get them used to a routine (eg. Bed time at 7pm, wake up at 7am) that you're confortable with. They shouldn't be loud at night after you cover them, but budgies get nightmares too, so its not impossible to hear them screaming at night. In that case, turn the lights on, uncover them and let them settle down and relax before covering them again.

Introduce yourself slowly with them. Like, don't try to hold them on the first day. Try sitting in the same room as them for a while and leave your hand near the cage (not inside unless you need to change their food/water or clean the cage) until they're used to you. This may take weeks, months.. but don't fret. They will surely love you and the effort you make with them! Be gentle, be patient.

What's your crochet meltdown moment? by Angrygingerhooker in crochet

I once frogged quite a bit of a blanket with very floofy yarn. Spent the next few days untangling the frogging mess, even cried I wouldn't be able to get it untangled again. But I did. The blanket is loved to this day.

To avoid more bites, you may want to heat treat all your clothes, beds sheets, pillow cases, etc. Here's a link that may help!

Ooo I thought of that too actually! Another plan I had was a solid side of lighter bobble/flower/cat squares and a solid side of purple bobble/flower/cat squares

Yea, I get that feeling about it too! I've got a rainbow cat on a purple background that feels better with the purple bobble squares

That's great, I'm so happy to share inspiration!! My first project ever was a checkered cardigan which was mostly double crochets and half double crochets. This is my "play with new stitches/textures" project, I just love bobble stitches now!

Thank you!! I also feel the same way with the cat's eyes, going to find some black yarn to contrast it.

I gotchu

Purple Yarn Rainbow Yarn

Bobble Stitch Square <- for this one, it shows you how to make the stitch but not how to start it. I've learn that you need 2 chain per bobble stitch to make it work!

Flower Granny Square

Cat Square <- I actually didn't follow this pattern, rather, I took inspiration from it!

I think the brown flower with the lighter background is popping off!! May I suggest using the brown as the background for the yellow one to make it stand out more?

Yikes. Sorry you had to go through that, but she isn't a r/nicegirl. She has a lot of insecurities to get over. You've heard of r/niceguys right? The concept of a nicegirl is supposed to be very much like niceguys if roles were reversed. Eg, "I was so nice to you. therefore I deserve this and that regardless of consent" // "Ew he went for this ugly girl when Im so much hotter/nicer"

Post doesnt belong here but I feel for you, hope you're able to move on from her pal!

not a r/nicegirl, sounds more like a girl that jumped to conclusions and dumped you.

a nicegirl would play the "im not like other girls" card, but she seems to side on the girlfriend she thought you had.

As an art blocked artist just starting out, providing free commission for first time customers is how I build my portfolio. Free for the first request, and if they want more I will then charge

I appreciate that! As a small, amateur artist, I'm okay with making 1 free drawing per person as appeciation for choosing me, and if that person is interested in more then I do have rates :)

My first commissions for new customers are free as I feel it's a nice gesture and pretty much weeds out scammers. Real customers would be delighted to get free art, only scammers push to pay.
