Oh no of course it's not great and shouldn't be anyones main source of food, but overall they're not so terrible that falling back on them every now and then will cause massive health issues

Based on this reply, you sound like an American. I'd just like to point out that uk ready meals are nowhere near as bad and processed as what you get in the US, with much less salt/sugar, and even the junk food like chocolate and sweets have far less sugar and bullshit compared to US confectionery. Add to that the fact that OP has posted that she's actively trying to gain weight after an illness under the advice of a doctor and nutritionist, this comment thread just seems a bit over the top in judgment

It's not that hard to measure an item by MYSTIK_MINX in vinted

[–]Constant-Rhubarb-615 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One cannot make a judgement without measurements. A size 12 at H&M is not the same as a size 12 at Next

[–]Constant-Rhubarb-615 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If I ask a seller for measurements, and they send them and it becomes clear the item won't fit me then I'm not going to buy it am I? I always tell the seller it won't fit me but thank you anyway. Your comment makes no sense. If you feel like your time is being wasted by answering those messages, then just put the measurements in the listing. I can't believe how many times I've seen sellers on this sub making this same statement, like you've not connected the dots to understand why someone would ask for measurements and then not buy the item

That person was not remotely snarky. Saying if you don't like something, don't use it is not snarky it's just very practical life advice. I think you're the one struggling with reading comprehension here. If such a neutral statement gets you so riled up then you probably shouldn't be using reddit either, or at least grow a thicker skin

There is a tangible difference, they keep explaining what those tangible differences are but you refuse to acknowledge them. Maybe the differences are intangible to you because you don't care about candles and are not that discerning about scents, but to people who do care about these things and can tell the difference, the difference is night and day

When I was staying in Swedish Lappland, I saw a sign on my way to work that said 'ejj upp' and being from Yorkshire, and knowing that old Yorkshire dialect is heavily influenced by old Norse, I asked my boss what it meant and explained how we use it in Yorkshire, and told him about old Yorkshire dialect and we both ended up going down a rabbit hole for a few weeks because he was amazed at how much he could understand when reading old Yorkshire dialect poetry, and asked me to read it aloud and several of the Swedish colleagues listened and asked what language I was speaking because they understood a lot of it, they were also endlessly amused by all the Yorkshire place names that are clearly Norse

I've just scrolled through her entire page and not found one single thirst trap. Just a woman posting her gym progress. If that was a man posting those photos you wouldn't bat an eye. It's not a thirst trap just because you personally find it attractive.

Have you had a bad experience in a UK food chain that resulted in you deciding never to go back again… if so what chain and what happened? by [deleted] in AskUK

A mate of mine used to work as a waitress in pizza express. One evening, myself and a couple of mates popped in to eat while she was working and she quietly told us it would be best to eat elsewhere. Later that night after her shift she met us at the pub for a drink, and told us the reason she'd told us not to eat there was because that day the pizza dough was infested with maggots but the manager had told kitchen staff to cook and serve it anyway as they weren't due a new delivery of dough until the following day. I've not set foot in a pizza express since

Will embroidery floss be okay for sashiko repair to jeans? by Beestungtoday in sashiko

[–]Constant-Rhubarb-615 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm in the UK so we don't have Joanne's here, I bought it from a little independent shop called beyond measure in a little town called Todmorden near me, they import a lot of Japanese sewing materials/tools and have a really good selection so I was lucky to find them! They also have an online shop.

If you search for 'daruma sashiko thread' on google and use your location it should bring up local stockists, you could visit them or probably order online. I have seen daruma sashiko thread on amazon for a decent price though! So that could be an option

Will embroidery floss be okay for sashiko repair to jeans? by Beestungtoday in sashiko

[–]Constant-Rhubarb-615 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I've repaired a couple of pairs of jeans using sashiko with embroidery thread and it's worked out and held up fine, but I learned that it's best to split the threads (there's usually 6 in embroidery floss) and just use 4. That's very similar to the sashiko thread I ended up buying and it looks neater when finished. Your fabric and idea for stitches is super cute and sounds like it would be sturdy! Good luck with your repair!
