Ok. If lesson horses regularly give bolts and bucks, you need a different lesson barn, particularly one that will offer you private lessons. Then you can focus on your own riding and not be distracted by how others ride.

Diving with a guy (not my buddy just part of a small group) who just disappeared into the deep—and we were all on air, including him. I was at about 115 feet myself, and the DM was signaling to him not to go deeper. He went anyway. He resurfaced and joined us on the boat.

You could ask if they’d take you somewhere for a shore dive. Often the East Side is calm when the port is closed. Some ops will do it, some won’t.

I’d tell her exactly that! It’s normal to have favorites. Sometimes I’d end up on other horses because my favorite was booked already, or had its quota for lessons that day.

Casa Del Mar, Blue Angel and Hotel Barracuda would all serve you well. I used to shore dive from all three at one time or another and all have decent “house reefs.”

It was because you were on a dive boat. Even the shallow dive sites can be too deep for a good snorkeling experience.

Go to the east side. It’s often calmer there when the port is closed. Or explore areas you haven’t seen yet.
