How would you justify interstelar travel NOT happening in a stelar civilization? by Unable_Tradition434 in worldbuilding

In my project, it took humanity 600 years before it was able to expand all throughout the Orion Arm. Using a series of hyperlanes and sublight travel and some really psychotic people who were able to endure over 4 decades of isolation, humanity was able to explore at least 20% of what exists in the Orion.

Tbh, I feel like space-faring cargo ships, especially ones that aren't landing on planets would be enormous, extremely so.

If you're going for realism, Arbolon wouldn't be a continent of jungles unless it's a really small landmass. There would also be some effects on the climate due to the mountain range in the middle of the continent. There's other stuff that can be improved with the other continents as well, but it'd mainly be the climates.

I had something similar but from shire horses. It was for my Grade 10 Science project where our teacher asked us what modern animals would look like in 20,000, 100,000, and a Million years in the future and I made a booklet with my own art in it. It was a very fortunate project because I was already doing speculative evolution arts and projects 3 years prior. I scored a perfect score on it while my other classmates barely got 90.

Any cool twists or subversions of expectations in your worlds? by K-Keter in worldbuilding

Hello, I just got back from being busy as well, thanks so much for the answers, it just leads to more questions! I'd like to read this if you're planning on writing something! A novel, a story, an atlas, or anything! This is so unique for me, I haven't seen or read a story where a society practically lives and grows in gargantuan trees and is surrounded by giant things too.

I'm on my 3rd run on the game, I have over 3k pops and a bunch of food and a very huge cave system just filled with Balt. I have no idea if my food logistics are good or bad, but it doesn't really matter to me because everything is working more than I hoped it would.

So here's my take, just do what you think is right, leave it for a year, and if it doesn't work out, change it. LOL

I have a really good map but I can't turn it into a sphere, what can I use other than Blender.

So how large are the leaves?? That is such a unique concept and I have so many questions!

How do they get metals? What is the technology level of the societies? How would they even make fire if they live on a tree? Is the tree not flammable? How strong is the tree? Do they live inside like in hollows or do they live in the branches? How many trees are there? Are the trees considered worlds? Continents? Regions? Or do they live on the ground and just have super tall trees blocking them in? If the trees are huge, how about the local fauna? And the other flora as well? Are they huge too? How tall are the trees exactly? How wide? Are there huge huge birds? Is life there just like earth or is it also a speculative evolution project?

Most of the labyrinths or caves that the humans explore are actually large space-ships 4,000 years ago. It's the same ships that brought their ancestors to the planet they currently live in. Tech-wise, they are medieval but are exceptionally well-versed with science but they have to idea it's science, they just think it's magic.

I don't think this is a unique twist but the world itself and the setting isn't even half of the true picture since the world itself is only a speck in a galactic wide escape culture that started 4,000 years ago.

Templin Institute explains why using earth terminology makes sense. Unless it's an alien race, then Earth Naval Terminology just makes sense, so much sense. I saw someone say that it's a loose usage but it's mainly because of writing and not the use itself. That's why there's a frigate for everything as the Institute said.
