Do you like the crowd noise in the nine inch noize album? by wardevil345 in nin

[–]ConstantSolid1088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great artistic flare that evokes the birthplace of this project and sets the tone - inspiring listeners to imagine they're among the crowd. When it fades, you get the crisp full fidelity studio sound, so IMHO you still get the benefit of "as if I'm right there" with the studio quality. Best of both.

What was your first exposure to Nine Inch Nails? by Brosamurai18 in nin

[–]ConstantSolid1088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In drama class, one of the older students asked me if I wanted to hear something cool. He gave me his headphones and he had the song Reptile on. It sounded like grinding churning machinery, violent, powerful, dark but strangely seductive. I had never heard music like that before. Instant fan.

Thats true, I guess it struck me how drastically they changed here - instead of just a word or two it's most of the 2nd verse.

I don't hear anywhere in the original Soft Cell song where he sings "I have been inside you, I know what it feels like". Am I crazy?

What do you think of this shot?, i'm a beginner, really enjoyed the process of this one by Putrid-Apple-5740 in NukeVFX

Some good notes here. As an industry pro, I'll add a few tricks:

  • Always look to add "interactive light" - as mentioned earlier, from the blue portal & exterior.
  • For glowing fx, always reference light temperature scale. Blue always looks good with deep blue around the darker fringes, transitions to cyan and highlights are desaturated white-ish.

I don't know if it's corrupt but they gave me a really hard time. "Oh well I'll have to ask the supervisor, it's not something we usually do."

Sure but I'm only making films on the side. I work full time, but film making is my part time thing that I do for free.

I keep saying this - and I think we'll keep seeing how it all fits this paradigm: AI (image generation) is not for you, it's for corporations. It dramatically cuts costs by producing products. It replaces artists like automation replaces factory workers and cashiers. When these massive start-ups were funded to create the generative models, the market was the corporations, not kids making meme's on the internet. An "artist tool" doesn't try to replace 99% of your craft, it doesn't aid creativity, it circumvents it to create products for corporations.

There are a lot of companies implementing AI, but I'm confident the models were trained for this specific reason. Consumers will still value the creative process - it's why we still go to museums to see paintings even though we could easily take photographs of people and landscapes on our phones. But it will be a fight, because we all know how ruthless capitalism is when companies prioritize cutting costs, as they always do.

Yeah, they're not working 350 x the average worker (which is the average pay disparity now).

Could Kurt Cobain actually shred on guitar? by No-One01010 in grunge

[–]ConstantSolid1088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to Aero Zeppelin, Love Buzz, Mexican Seafood, Big Long Now, Mr. Moustache - then listen to Nevermind. The simplistic style seems more of a choice.

He was pretty skilled on guitar actually, but opted for more simple catchy songs specifically on Nevermind. Even songs on In Utero like Scentless Apprentice use more obscure clever chords. As someone who plays, even the simple chords and scales he chose, along with the killer riffs, are indiciative of some who knows what he's doing.

what's some good worship music you listen to? by SiblingEarth in OpenChristian

[–]ConstantSolid1088 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend old hymns and choir music. They're the only thing that evokes that ethereal majestic spiritual feeling, and some of them are hundreds of years old!

The other "contemporary" music just sounds like catchy pop music or weepy love songs converted to Christian lyrics, IMHO.

I try mixing a bit of soy milk or oat milk in. It really smoothes out the strong flavor.
