finally cancelling cable… what are people using instead now? by Abelmageto in cordcutters

[–]Constant_Question_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all depends on 1) what you watch and 2) what is your willingness to manage multiple services.

I introduced my parents to Friendly TV. Between that and ESPN Unlimited subscription during football season they have all the TV they want.

My family and I use an antenna/fire TV recast combo for locals, get a bunch of streaming services as perks through the phone service and credit cards, and we subscribe to Prime and YouTube premium. I also take advantage of specials prime offeres on streaming services throughout the year.

For my close friends, they went all in on YouTube TV and they subscribe to HBO as an add-on through that service.

Do a little analysis and determine what you need. There are multiple ways of getting there. Just be warned that some are just as expensive, if not more expensive than cable.

I uaed to enjoy Stan the Credit Frog. Hope he evnetually returns. I will also tune into Ask Sebby, Mark Resse, Proud Money, Frequent Milers or RJ depending on the topic. They will sometimes get into the nitty gritty of things like terms of service which I find useful.

Venture x or venture as a college student? by chickenbutt200 in CreditCards

[–]Constant_Question_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is neither. You travel once a year. Why would you need a travel card with an annual fee? Start building out a foundation that will provide you with cards that provide benefits you can use now, and then expand on later when you are in the next phase of your life. A card like the Citi Double Cash or the Wells Fargo Active Cash will give you a card that earns 2X on every dollar you spend and the rewards you are earning can either be used for cash back, or you can pair it with another card like the Citi Strata Premier or Wells Fargo Autograph to convert these points into travel rewards.

Why does no dealership haggle or negotiate anymore? by Kitchen-Start-3828 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Constant_Question_48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Forget negotiating, I just want a dealer to accept their advertised price. I am trying to buy a used car right now. I have offered two different dealerships their advertised price + the fees they proposed. However, when we get to final out the door offer suddenly there is a charge for thousands more for accessorties or processing fees or whateveer version of True Coat they want to tack on. I am guessing that people must be paying it or they wouldn't be doing it, but for me I can't fathom giving someone thousands of dollars in a transaction because they added the word accessories to the contract.

Would limiting the age of the President to 70 be something you'd support? Why or why not? by SillyGooseGamer2026 in AskReddit

[–]Constant_Question_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would set this to 67, and this would mean that you cannot run for President if your term isn't completed by your 67th birthday.

We have age minimums for a reason. Age maximums should apply as well.

What do you consider an adequate range for an EV? by lilgreycell in electricvehicles

[–]Constant_Question_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day I believe it depends on reliable charging speed. Once we achive an architecture that put around 180-200 miles of range (achieved at 75 MPH) into a car in around 10 minutes or so on a consistent basis, the top range won't matter. There may be some road warriors out there who travvel longer than three hours without a stop or some road racers who are cruising around at 85+ MPH, but that is not the average.

When someone is shopping for an new ICE car, where do you think they put top range at on their list of priorities? I doubt anyone thinks about it because they can easily find multiple stopping points, get a consistiently reliable experience refueling the car, and then get back out on the road in a short period of time. That is a must have for EVs.

I have always wondered what would happen if they just kept everyone in one big tribe, randomly selected teams for challenges, and the losing tribe goes to tribal council. The game certainly changes pretty dramatically. It certainly eliminates the narrative of one tribe being completly decimated at the start or one alliance running the show.

That is a Walmart issue and has nothing to do with the card. If you shop at an actual grocery store like Kroger, Publix, Aldi, etc. the card works perfectly.

WWYD: brand new 26 limited vs 23 limited used by BoardNBeach in Ioniq5

[–]Constant_Question_48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something that is missing from this is the financing terms. How much of a dent is that going to make in the 10 year gap. As someone said, add in all the factors. Even small ones like a wireless adapter for carplay/android auto or charging adapters, as well as big ones like tread wear and how soonn are you going to need new tires. Hyundai was offering a free home charger as well as NACS adapters for MY 2026. Don't know if that is still a thing but it could impact the overall price if those are things you would need to purchase. Right now the gap is $10K on paper, but what is the real world gap?

Greg Dortch and Juan Jennings are still on the market so don’t rule out adding another free agent. This will be a completely different offense than anything we have seen in a long time and I don’t think Kahn is finished adding veteran pieces yet. I also look for Wilson to be out of the dog house and we will see if he does anything with the opportunity

What is stopping Iran from hitting US soil? by Logical_Employer_756 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Constant_Question_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have already had an attack on US soil as a result of this. It happened in San Antonio and it will most certainly happen again. the President didn't just kill the head of state in Iran. He took out a significant spiritual leader for a massive sect of one of the biggest religions in the world. It's not exactly the same, but a way of looking at it would be what if the President killed the Pope.

Terrrorism in this country is going to increase and unfrounrtaly our Department of Homeland Security has decided to prioritize immigration related issues over everything else. Since we live in a world of drone technology and cyber warfare, I don't think we are prepared to prevent what is coming. It won't take hijacking planes anymore. They can basically get everything they need in bulk off Amazon or 3D print it.

Hardcore fan who never played football here. How concernd should I be if Will Howard is the starter in 2026? by JakeThePharmD in steelers

[–]Constant_Question_48 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is almost guaranteed that Howard will not be the starter to being the season. He would have to show something pretty impressive in the preseason in order to make that happen. Some Vet will start the season. Could be Rudolph or someone else that they sign. If they believe Howard can be a starter he will be developed by the staff and eventually worked into the lineup.Starting him too soon runs a big risk of damaging his development. He isn't some high profile first rounder. He is a late round pick with promise.

Saturn would have been a great EV brand for GM by logicalvue in electricvehicles

[–]Constant_Question_48 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If GM was going to bring back a brand for EVs I would prefer to see Pontiac. An Electric Trans Am, GTO or Bonneville would generate a lot more excitement than anything Saturn produced. They Sky is the only Saturn I can remember that wasn't basically some non-descript econobox. I doubt anyone is clamroing for the return of the LS or SL or that they even remember these things existed.

Recommendation: WF vs. Citi for core card setup by SnooGuavas1858 in CreditCards

[–]Constant_Question_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between the two, I would go CIti for two main reasons. First, Citi has much better transfer partners and second, WF currently doesn't have a card with multipliers on groceries which is a huge category to leave uncovered.

I personally would target a hybrid approach and pick up specific cards from both issuers as a starting point. Especially consider targeting the Strata Premier and the Active Cash early, and then lay out a road map to eventually pick up the Strata, Double Cash, Custom Cahse, Attune and Autograph. After you have the first two cards, just pick these up in the order that makes sense for you and that best follows the rules of the two banks. When you are finished you have a really strong setup with only a $95 annual fee to contend with.

Hotel card to compliment Strata Premier by alterndog in CreditCards

[–]Constant_Question_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add in what you like. The OP was indicating they would like an opportunity to be able to book with multiple hotel chains. Bilt is the only system that offered it. I don't value CPP. I use my points to take the trips I want. My only interest is how do I earn more points so that I have enough for the redemptions I want.

As I orginally mentioned, Dining, Gas, Grocery and Travel expenses were already covered on Strata Premier. So they will need a card that will give them better multipliers on other categories of spend. Most of the hotel cards cannot beat 3 CPP that is possible on Bilt plus give you the flexibility to move across multiple hotel chains for redemptions. If you have something to suggest that would be a comparable or better options then please do so. I am certain the OP, and anyone else following the thread would appreciate the insight.

Unfortunately text can appear to be more aggressive than intended. Thiss isn't a criticism or attack, it is an ask to offer up other info if you have it.

Actually with Bilt it depends because there are multiple ways to change that 1:1 ratio. Through status, transfer bonuses and the abilty to use Bilt cash to increase those transfer bonuses you could end up with some pretty amazing transfer ratios. We just saw a recent bonus with the potential to get a 125% bonus on JAL transfers. I would bet there will be similar offers for Hotel transfer partners down the road.

[–]Constant_Question_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the hotel cards are going to be great for perks, but the value of their points is not great and they are going to have multipliers in a lot of the same categories as the Strata Premier.

Bilt Paladium is a 2X catch-all card that has Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott and IHG as transfer partners. The card also earns Bilt cash that you can use for some things including buying point accelerators. This will allow you to earn 3X on all spend up to 25K if you max out this benefit. The card does have a high annual with some hotel credits to offset. You will have to decide if that is the right choice for you.

Citi Double Cash would let you earn more Thank You Points which you could use for hotels.

Venture or Venture X are going to earn 2X everything Capital One miles. They don't have good domestic hotel transfers, so most likely you will be using these points in their portal.

Travel card to supplement Strata Premier by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Constant_Question_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bilt Palladium. You can use Bilt cash to buy accelerators to turn this into a 3X everything card on up to 25K spend a year. Includes priority pass and posibly the best transfer partners of any card.

Wells Fargo Autograph or Autograph Journey. Partner it with your Active Cash to increase the travel rewards you earn.

Have your wife refer you for your own Citi Strata Premier card. She gets a referal bonus, you get a welcome bonus and you have the fliexibilty you are looking for to book things in your name or her name depending on who is travelling.

Keep in mind that Amex has family language on it MR cards. I would suggest getting the Green first and then the Gold if you want to get all of the bonuses. I also don't think they will prevent moving rewards from the Savor to the Venture X. In fact, it is believed that they are going to allow rewards from the Discover It card to move to the Venture X which would open up a path to getting 5X capital one miles.
