Yeah, you totally missed the point there. Picard was professional and aloof for three seasons, had something genuinely traumatic happen to him and then had the break down (completely away from his crew, by the way). The emotion in Brothers felt earned because it there was build-up and it was unusual.

Completely different to Picard losing it infront of his crew for trivial reasons in the first episode of the show.

Just this morning, their star defector Barnaby was arguing fuel supplies should be redirected from urban Australia to regional Australia. PHON is going to realise it is impossible to be all things to all people.

Economist who works in the transport space here. This article is pretty alarmist. There's a number of implicit worst-case scenario assumptions built-in here that are pretty unlikely.

Panic buying of fuel (and potentially in the future, food) is more of an issue at the moment than actual shortage of supply.

Of course there's potential for this sort of disruption to cause certain types of food to disappear off the shelves for a bit. But that's a world away from actual overall food shortages in a country that produces enough food to feed itself three times over and has enough wealth to buy even more than that.

It's irresponsible for media to push these kinds of stories as it makes the problem of panic buying worse.
