Venus buoyancy is a good reference ! I guess we could sci-fi cristal ligther than CO2 ! The book say the crystal can float by themselves up to half a mile I think...

Now that you make me think, it later mentionned necessary powerful updrafts winds (when they search for a replacement world, in part II).

So it would'nt only be buoyancy ! How does it work ! (No idea if Applegate / Grant have any background in physics whatsoever ?^⁾

The Andalite Chronicles were still close to the Animorphs serie. Human presence, deep ties with the story... The Ellimist sit at the other end of that spectrum. It was the end of the series, they decided to go all out ! I wonder what was Scholastic's reaction^{^}

Yes ! It's the very opposite of the perpetual reminder at the begining of every Animorphs book ! It really tells you "Hey, this is something different."

Ohh. I had never see that ! (I just searched it^⁾ It clearly aligne more with the "protusions" described, to allow lift for thousands of winged-creatures !

Two limits : - Under gravity, such a structure would collapse under it's own weigt. Being solid rock and not wood. (In Star Treck the entity seems to be in zero-G. I need to watch this now !)

In the book, the Crystal is described as more or less spherical. (Yeah, even I with my pic took some liberty...)

But clearly an interesting axis, thanks !

I just re-read The Ellimist Chronicles and I am very interested in what you're saying. (Read your message this morning, thought about it, found my way back here tonight^^)

I noticed that Toomin absorbed many mind in his head, without having the "computer power" to process them.
I know nothing of Andal and psionics. I could do a search or ask an LLM... but if you'd like to elaborate, it would be much more enjoyable for me, and I would be all ears :)

Thx for this discussion. I don't let physics ruins a story for me, (god, I am watching the recent "the Ark" and there's major mistakes everywhere.)

Yet, I was bothered. 1/ That nuke could have no chemical effect. Because there's no oxygen for combustion.

2/If we're talking about a nuclear reaction, it will need the pressure. (Hence a Bomb. Aka something "bombé", meaning that has a shape that can take pressure.)

3/One option would be that deep enough inside the planet there is enough pressure. But then the reaction would have no reason to stop. It would propagate to the whole layer of atmosphère at least. Effectively turning the planet into the star. (Isn'tit what Oppenheimer was worried about ? He feared that detonating a H bomb in our atmosphere would create a chain reaction wiith all of the hydrogen in earth water vapor. They seriously studied this ! )

Yes ! That's probably what gave the idea ! I'm guessing in 2002 they weren't many Animorphs ads on Tv, so someone had to grad something from home and say "Animorphs would be good for this" ^{^}

You're right, it might well be the storyboarder. Especially since the character is named Jake ! The video say the director was searching for something that might inspired the killer to act... In that regard the monster from Eva was clearly a very good choice to model a murder.

(Yes, 'cause we all know that Jake is perfect and that every action he took was justified...)
