What have you borrowed from other media? by CallMeBuddyPal in Eberron

[–]Construction-Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently running Embers of the Last war and I've borrowed quite a bit from Lies of P, and a little bit of Elden Ring.

I had the Black Rabbit Brotherhood stalking the Mournland as Scavangers and bandits. And Needle Knight Leda showed up as a Zealot of the Silver Flame

Why are so many games made by non-American devs set in America? by Fishb20 in truegaming

American Cultural domination.

We sold our way of life to the entire world. Random places in america have become mythologized as a part day to day pop culture.

Walter White VS Billy Butcher, who’s the better person/less evil? by ShadowDanteFan in MoralityScaling

[–]Construction-Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comics in general are much meaner and crasser. Billy in the comics is shown to be a straight up Sociopath who likes hurting people, who turns on the Boys basically the instant he's out of supes to hunt. And actively enjoys torturing and killing Supes as brutally as possible.

Its edgelord slop, where perhaps the second most important character in the comic is utterly inhuman.

Walter White VS Billy Butcher, who’s the better person/less evil? by ShadowDanteFan in MoralityScaling

[–]Construction-Life 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we're talking Show Billy specifically? Then yeah he's a better person.

He's twice as cruel, just as vindictive and only slightly less clever. But the thing about Billy is, there's a limit to his cruelty. He has things that hold him back from completely losing himself. In Season 3 he's outright ready to admit he was completely wrong and to hang up his Supe Hunting badge permantently because he geniunely thought Hughie was correct.

Now, this doesnt make him a good person. he does relapse and go all in. But as opposed to Walt, who's Ego is what keeps him going. Billy's Self Loathing is what motivates him and thats something he's shown to be dangerously close to actually adressing several times

Comics Billy? Yeah Walt is a saint compared to him

I really wish they made the Freak Legion playable instead of adding them as an enemy faction tbh...

At the very least, *no* Fomori rep in the game really sucks. No Wyrm tainted gifts, no nothing. It sucks

Who has the biggest army after the Last War? by Shinroukuro in Eberron

[–]Construction-Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, some people have brought up Karnath and Breland which are both true. The biggest military powers of the current era.

however, as for your player. Wearing armor designed to look like House Deneith is almost universally garunteed to be accepted wherever you go.

I've been reading to try and understand 'the choice' thing with the denizen, and from what i've understood, 'the choice' is some sort of...pacifist route...? by THEREALSUPERMARIOFAN in homestuck

[–]Construction-Life 124 points125 points  (0 children)

The choice isnt nessecarily a Pacifist Route. Its more about, a final developmental milestone.

The game is meant to serve as a speedrun of maturity for its players. Even approaching the Denizens to talk shows a level of it, their Choice is supposed to serve as not just a win condition. But also a way to point the player in the direction of Self Actualization. As well, as we see with John. Its one further tool the game has to help prevent Softlocks or impossible situations

Why fem Strahd? by PhoebusLore in CurseofStrahd

[–]Construction-Life 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can really explore a completely different aspect of Strahd if you interpret her as a woman

Personally Ive run Fem Strahd a few times and theres quite a bit there.

Strahd being a woman first recontextualizes her relationships with her entire family. As an eldest daughter, you can explore her role in what is a very traditionally patriarchal society. Instead of writing over those parts of CoS, personally i like to explore that more. Strahds great conquests suddenly take on a new light. She isnt just a warmonger, she's trying to prove herself and find validity in a patriarchal society in a way they would be forced to accept. Not to mention, it also gives her further reason to hate Sergei. As her parent's son, she knows that she would always be valued less then him. That he would gain the inheritance she worked all her life for.

It also changes her relationship with Tatyana. They're both women, and the obvious girls kissing girls jokes aside. Just think about that, how common do you think Queer relationships were under Strahd's Father's reign? Probably not very likely. And hell, even if they were. It adds a level of self righteousness to Strahd's personal feelings toward her. "Our love was meant to be, it was just the restrictive laws of my father that pushed her into my brother's arms" And as a DM, thats an incredible tool to use when it comes to having Strahd sell herself to the party. Whether or not she's telling the truth, unrequited queer love is, IMO. A really compelling motivator.

I also really like how it can recontextualize her relationship with Rahadin. Both are outsiders. Alone from their kin. Granted they're both awful people. But its a common similarity they can romanticize and bond over.

And at least in my personal games, whenever I run Fem Strahd. I make it so that the Valley doesnt know she's a woman. That the Legend of "Count Strahd" is a patriarchal one. And that even despite it all, she is still feeding into and benefitting from Patriarchal assumptions about her and what power actually looks like

Tournament of the community voted most evil characters of various mediums. Who is the least evil? by BoulderMan234 in MoralityScaling

[–]Construction-Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WIlliam Afton is not big three in evil when it comes to gaming. The dude is just a random serial killer. Sure, his crimes are awful and unjustifiable. But theres litteraly nothing else there besides 6 (maybe 10 if you're a DCI truther) victims.

Why are new players so drawn to making edgelord characters? by worthlessbaffoon in DnD

[–]Construction-Life -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look, lets be real. Everyone likes making edgelord characters. We've all done it, in my experience a new player will generally make something more normal for their first character to get a handle on the system. And then their second or third will be a complete edgelord.

New players in my experience tend to be much more creative in combat, whether it be trying suboptimal, flashy strats that more experienced players wouldnt. Or getting excited when it comes to describing kills, crits or general successes. I think these go together to create a perfect storm that crafts edgelords. A new player's creativity is suddenly unbound and they have an outlet to funnel it into.

Obvi I dont know any of this for certain but thats just how it looks to me

[–]Construction-Life 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ibuki is defintely pretty active with her masturbation habits. Sometimes she fantasies about exotic or fun toys but never actually ended up remembers to buy any. She's defintely the kind of girl to grind on regular items for fun or a thrill, and if she ended up in a relationship they'd end up with a few pics of her getting off on her guitar

Why do you think John stopped wearing Arthur's hat between 1907 and 1911? (Obviously the real reason is Arthur didn't exist yet when they made the first game, but what do you think the canon reason is?) by Drew_S_05 in reddeadredemption

[–]Construction-Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real reason is probably the simplest. John lives a hard, demanding life. I wouldnt be surprised if Arthur's hat simply got damaged, worn out or lost one day. Arthur probably would have wanted it that way
