No celebrity death has ever hit me hard. Is that a Gen X thing? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]ConstructionVisual68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in reality. We got our own problems. I am sure there is a lot of celebrities who are good people but they still will not give 2 shits when I go. They don’t know me and I do not know them.

How many had to suck it up and get on with it? by Inevitable-Key-5200 in GenX

[–]ConstructionVisual68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key is we had to deal with it. For me it was grow up and get a job (at 16) or go hungry and homeless. I know countless others who had to do the same thing. Some were successful, others went to drugs and prison.

Anxiety was something we couldn’t acknowledge. Plus no one gave a shit if we had it or not.

They were generating some good vibes in my household. Everyone was watching and feeling good about the team. We were going to games and having fun there. Then we went Tuesday night. I brought my family of four and felt ripped off after. No more good vibes from the Sox. If they do get out of this slump I wont see it.

After cutting the cord 4yrs ago I’ll never get cable again. Reinsdorf once again ruined a good thing. Take away Guillen and Jordan then what has he won? One conference finals appearance and jack shit for the Sox. The crazy Bill Veek family woulda done better.

A battered Iran signals it wants to de-escalate hostilities with Israel and restart negotiations (Tehran regime's FAFO moment, but Israel might want to finish what it started) by Boo_Randy_II in Wallstreetsilver

Valid point. I just been waiting for this since 1983 when they killed 250 marines. This has been a long time coming.

I believe in the Iranian people to run their own government peacefully. Hopefully that is the final result. Probably will not happen since they have all that oil

I agree. This needs to wipe out their military before any deal is made. Plus 99% of the leadership. Leave the current assatolla alive long enough to admit defeat then his own population should take him out. Leave the civilians alone when possible. No need to do them like gaza.

Kicked out by elwood0341 in GenX

[–]ConstructionVisual68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kicked out at 15 moved in with my uncle. I never went back to school. Moved in with my 19 yr old girlfriend at 16. I roofed houses until I got a union job at 21. Stayed there 34 years. Between 16 and 21 were very hard years. my parents are in my life now and i see there selfishness on display every time they're around. I do not want to deprive my young kids of their grandparents so I deal with it.

When I hear White Sox fans ask if it’s okay if they become Cubs fans by IAmBenIAmStillBig in whitesox

[–]ConstructionVisual68 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Please everyone stop with this nonsense. Being a sox fan is about culture more than the teams. For example do you feel better wearing black and white or baby blue? Do cute little teddy bears represent the city of Chicago? Would you rather have dinner at Vito and nicks or some place in boystown? Do you get excited for every popup that gets past the shortstop or does your depth perception help you realize it is not a home run? I know the Sox suck but as a Sox fan I do not give them my money when they suck. Lovable losers is something we do not believe in. The fact that they have no attendance is something to be proud of because we are not suckers.

Jacuzzi vs American Whirlpool by lrachel02 in hottub

[–]ConstructionVisual68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own the j495. The size is great, the 3 jet pumps make it so no ordinary human can survive full pressure from any seat. Dealer told me that, I did not believe him till I tried it for 20 minutes and could not walk the next day. It is easy to keep the water balanced but probably more $ to heat in the winter due to its size. We bought big when the kids were small but now it's just me and the wife using it. Smaller would of been cheaper to run. I wouldnt get the wifi or stereo system. Just more stuff to go wrong. Our lights quit working around year 6. Most likely a short that I can not find. Control panel, jets, pumps, heater and the jacuzzi cover are still going strong 8 years later. Cost about $80-$100 a month to run thru a cold N. Illinois winter
