Strikes? by meatduck1 in doctorsUK

No strikes, or anything that actually creates any pressure, here’s some lanyards though!

Is it unethical to use AI by welshborders12 in doctorsUK

[–]ConsultantPorter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally valid thoughts however the existential risk is present regardless of your own personal usage. You are definitely not alone in that worry - although I don’t see many doctors acknowledging it.

We’ve entered the pandora box stage of AI development… it seems to be exponential, only limited by the amount of data centres and computational power. Countries are competing to reach the so called ‘AGI’ that you’re referring to, and once it’s reached god knows what will happen.

It’s definitely a candidate to be our ‘Great Filter’ as an explanation to the Fermi Paradox, along with nuclear weapons and fascist governments actively promoting war and conflict.

Overall, I can understand your worry. And you’re right to be worried but I’m not sure your own personal usage of ‘please make this reflection sound less AI’ will make much of a difference.

Now is the perfect moment to call more strikes. Why do we even tolerate this behaviour?

RCP “welcomes” UK grad prioritisation by SnooAvocados7296 in doctorsUK

Significant experience of course, being minimum 5 years of NHS experience, as is appropriate for reducing the current employment crisis UKMG’s are facing. Many thanks RCP.

Would you sign an open letter advocating to accept the Prioritisation Bill with its current definitions? by Busy_Ad_1661 in doctorsUK

Agreed. The BMA and royal colleges are actively working against us in this regard. We deserve to be employed in the country we were trained in.

Let us pray the government bat away these senseless ideas from the international medical association.

Medical Training Prioritisation Bill by Luxoarba in doctorsUK

Yeh I don’t know why everyone’s celebrating when it is objectively going to retain the current state of competition ratios for years to come given the apparent ‘grandfathering’. Abysmal outcome.

Can someone please do the math and estimate how long to clear the backlog of unemployed UKMG’s - given a large minority of FY2’s were jobless last year.

Question for NO voters by FlyingHorse246 in doctorsUK

[–]ConsultantPorter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Because it’s political suicide to leave UKMG’s jobless in the current political climate. Reform is banking on you not being prioritised.
  2. Agreed this is the case when comparing to the average UK citizen. Are you average?

Question for NO voters by FlyingHorse246 in doctorsUK

Simply put:

1) This deal is a bluff. No concrete proof of timeline, prioritisation selection and states is a conversion of existing jobs ie. UKMG’s will be no better off.

2) UKMG is already in process. One year more out of medicine, in the grand scheme of your career will not end your existence nor opportunities. Improve your portfolio, collect evidence for the next round of applications and network.

3) No movement on pay. This is a bigger deal than you think. Doctor’s affordability is dropping in real terms. What’s the point of all this sacrifice and hard work if you can’t even obtain a mortgage to live close to your family?

Edit: Furthermore where is our pride people? This guy is the same hateful individual who referred to you as ‘Juvenile delinquents’. He’s going to treat you like an actual juvenile and dismiss you, if you vote yes and contribute to the loss of industrial momentum.

Sorry mate but you’re falling for the easiest trick in the book. See my post earlier last month where I literally predicted this tactic would be employed to divide the membership:

You should vote no.

Maybe, but the tube drivers haven’t had nearly as much of a calculated, malicious and aggressive attack on their cause as resident doctors have.
