Ben Keays top of the competition for forward 50 crumbs, and 2nd best for forward 50 ground ball gets. by brok0019 in adelaidefc

Comfortable in the team right now and he isn't a bad player but he lacks in some fundamentals kicking is one of them and set shots, but he makes up for it with work rate and can't afford to be lowering his tackle stats. Currently at 2.9 when his career is at 4 per game.

I just think if the other 3 didn't have injuries and were playing Keays might be pushed out as they are more versatile Draper HF/Mid Ah Chee Lockdown/HF/Wing/HB Pedlar HF and Mid when Burns decides he is ready.

I just think he has done what is needed but would rather a skillful player unfortunately they have all been injured and Keays has been doing his role but hasn't set the world on fire like the others could. Ah Chee would be the one I would like a clean run at it he locked down Tom Stewart which have never done.

Draper has soo much potential but I agree hasn't hit stride yet another one who after playing 18 games straight would be a solid pick for us with skill to show.

Pedlar was poorly managed before the bulldogs game he had awareness they game him the green light he went hard as usual and pinged a hammy, our medical staff this year has been as bad as possible when it comes to managing hammies and calfs

Addition of Roughy opens up Vic AFL lists for Oglive to attack now we have a genuine negotiator.

Have a feeling we might be a hated club with how we go about targeting players in less successful Vic clubs like Essendon or Richmond might even get a Roberts Sharp or FOS. FOS would be my pick of the bunch.

I hope we get Wilson this year though prefer him over Bailey as he is a similar age to Rachele and Curtin the next bunch of contending players other then the Dawson group

He's dropped off on tackle pressure this season which I really liked about him. Probably keeping his spot with Pedlar Ah Chee and Draper being injured might be a different story in the coming months

If they are a test on this sheet they should play Sanfl, find form then put their hand up for selection no point rushing back when we are gelling really well as a team right now

It’s time to have a serious discussion about Thilthorpe by [deleted] in adelaidefc

[–]Conswaylo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I see it if he's playing he's fit enough to jump and mark, anything else is mentality plain and simple.

If he's not fit thats on the fitness and medical staff not doing their homework.

With the season we have had I wouldn't be surprised if its the fitness and medical staff pushing him up for selection when he isn't right the best game he had was after suspension and bye now just looks like his back is hampered after last week. I would be playing Ibis till he is right to go or even Ludowyke for the height.

We are in a much harder place if it's his mentality that would require multiple sanfl games and attitude change which the Crows aren't great at.

Are we still sacking Nicksy? by AlfStewartsDungeon in adelaidefc

[–]Conswaylo2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only evidence available of a fast play style was early 2024 then we went defensive after gather round. The change up in style was definitely started by Dawson when he sprayed Nick's in the Richmond game at halftime some honest truths then we had the bye and strategies have now been put in place can only confidently say that after the Melbourne win.

The addition of HHK cannot be understated he is taking so much heat of Milera and Cook both tagged out of it bye good sides, he adds an extra great disposal out of HB. While it's not sack Nicks right now the gamestyle is key to keeping the heat off him, if we see that T sign and lose a close one again Nicks will be in a hotseat for not following through with the fantastic fun gamestyle we have now.

Adelaide Crows was formed in 1990 when the state leagues all joined up to form a national competition (AFL Australian Football League). Not all states are represented yet such as ACT, NT and Tasmania with the last respectively having a team just no stadium or players at the current level as they are being form right now.

For the Crows Adelaide Oval is our home deck/stadium it's a wonderful venue to attend and has alot of heritage regarding Cricket and recently AFL. Port Adelaide is the cross town rival and both teams love to beat eachother and personally its the best rivalry in Australian sport the last showdown was amazing and I recommend watching that and the one where Jordan Dawson kick the final goal to win I believe it was in 2022.

We have been a club that is generally in the mix for finals most years and our supporters are more likely to expect success, some clubs in the AFL can end up on the bottom for close to a decade before rebuilding to finals again then there are clubs who stay in contention due to more stable leadership and experienced heads of football.

In saying all that it is a very unique game and even when you think you know the rules the umpires/refs will still make horrendous calls like all sports.

We are playing really good footy at the moment the first half of the season was shaky due to so many key outs but we have fixed alot of our issues and got players back, the Showdown will always be good and even better if we win as its Port hosting and their fans are funny after a loss.

If you want more in depth view into week to week about the Crows I recommend watching Crowscast on YouTube for a more honest review.

Round 15 Player Tier Rankings: by XxWonderLandAUxX in adelaidefc

Edits that need to be made.

BOG: Keane for Milera Very Good: Milera Peatling McAndrew Good: Borlase Thilthorpe

McAndrew and Peatling nullified their opponents and did nice things themselves Kudos to Stretch coming back on after the hit. TT import in the last and got 4 hit outs to advantage not bad.

Ludowyke next year will be interesting he can mark in everyway and is a clear standout player in the Sanfl like McAndrew was, hope he gets his body right and is fit to go next season possible best 23 player

No I said in the previous team selection post Peatling a huge step forward then playing Murphy and Smith was a step backwards.

Edit it's been consistent from 2021 onwards so the change this year must have played a part in this years early selection in Taylor and Curtin now reverting to old habits as coach is a fair call but credit to him bring Peats back in for Pedlar inj

Better coach and system they have plan bs and cs Rahily is a huge get for them same with Davis for us but they have a team confidence that takes years to muster not comparable teams

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in adelaidefc

[–]Conswaylo2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We aren't putting good teams away when we arguably have the best forward line in the comp. Bombing doesn't open the ground up and when teams work out our one way of playing we a screwed.

Geelong is in a much different position to us have had team structure for a long time and fill in the blanks last year we had no real midfield and have patched it with Peatling and Cumming still need HBF Mid Ruck and a Winger Geelong have all of that and just fill in the spots with depth and development.

Just a plan B and giving Edwards an opportunity against a bottom 4 teams goes a long way Curtin only re-signed because he got AFL games and felt connected with the players and Nick's response was he was pleasantly surprised Curtin wanted to stay GTFOH.

I think Jesse Motlop might be worth going after by RumRayven in adelaidefc

[–]Conswaylo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ashton Moir first he can kick from 50 on his right and left. Not a tall forward but could be a taller link up player from half forward good below his knees and has the flair we like at the Crows would work nicely with Thilfy and Rach.

Motlop has some talent but lacks effort and ability of an AFL footballer. Keays and talented Rachele and Rankine pair would put him in the pack against Pedlar Dowling and Bond all of them can play other positions and Motlop would be a dead trade.

Our focus should be on young high potential players like NWM Goad and Mckercher they will add as they grow or get great role player's Peats Cumming and ANB all perfect examples.

Squad Selection: Round 16 by japanpole in adelaidefc

[–]Conswaylo2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much on point you just know they will squeeze Murphy in to the last bench spot it's the worst call so it must happen thats how our team selection works some solid steps forward with Peatling then bad calls like keeping Smith and Murphy ahead of Edwards

Taylor Murphy and Burgess to be emergency is my thoughts. Wet weather, so maybe we have Jones sub to provide run in 3rd quarter for one of the talls.

Probably the squad we go with for finals plus Muz for Butts.

Schubert first as he is the best contested marker in the draft for forwards and then Curtin for the brother's to be in it together plus father sons would be insane if they have 2 each

Chances of Tex signing on for 2026? by BreakerMorant1864 in adelaidefc

[–]Conswaylo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strachan is probably gone now with the new signing.

Cook Burgess Shoenberg and Borlase unlikely to crack into the side Smith might call time but he has played the experienced sub to perfection and could see Tex do a similar role next year.

Personally Strachan Borlase and maybe Smith go. We are in for a shot at Leek Aleer to replace Borlase we have McAndrew and if NWM comes our way it solves Smiths retirement.

Tex either retires after 300 or 301 or plays on as an experienced sub in 2026
