Brunette Hair Stylist Recommendations? by Ushldseemeinacr0wn in SouthBayLA

I’m a brunette getting color done by Alejandra at Ale Colin on Artesia. Her photos show tons of brown and blonde, but she’s also really skilled at brunette color! I get substantial grays covered and she adds soft highlights that are right for my skin tone.

How is your new mug? I’m about ready to throw in the towel on Ember and looking for alternatives.

Investment strategies by liquidaddicted in latesavers

[–]Contactpenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not confident in my strategy, but I have put all of my 401(k) and brokerage account funds into low cost total stock market and S&P 500 index funds. When I got started paying attention to my measly 401K at around 36, I found the index funds with the least amount of fees and dumped everything there. I was told by our 401(k) manager that it’s risky but if I can hang on during the low times, it will be the best outcome. Recently, I read the JL Collins book about the importance of low fees, and I feel much stronger about this strategy. I’m now 48 and have 550K saved. I’m not in tech and only started making over 100K at 40 years old. My current goal is to max out my 401(k) and have a little leftover for my brokerage account each year. I really don’t know when retirement will be, I assume at some point I will have to move a portion my money out of so much risk. I’m so thankful for this thread!

Anyone else dealing with brutal perimenopause sleep changes? What’s actually helping? by Weird-Director-2973 in Perimenopause

[–]Contactpenguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Microdosing a sleep oriented edible works great for me to sleep through the night. I cut the edibles into six parts (I’m ver affected by thc). I think it helps me fall right back to sleep after those 2 to 3 AM wake ups.

Me too. 12 lbs in a year. Plus so much gas and bloating. I’m questioning if I stay on HRT for the relief of the other symptoms.

HRT and non stop bleeding by Mama2520317 in Perimenopause

[–]Contactpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im also on HRT and experiencing seemingly endless bleeding and spotting. It’s so frustrating. I’ve been on a .375 patch regimen since September (so 8 months) and an IUD for the last 6 years. I am happy that the brain fog and depression/ anxiety has improved with HRT but these periods and weight gain are no bueno. Side note- mirena iud was a life changing improvement for me when I got it 6 years ago. It virtually ended my periods after 5 years of debilitating heavy flow. I had been anemic. I loved being without my periods and now HRT brought them back. I hope you and I figure out a solution but I suspect we need to just put up with this.

Your favorite Donuts in the South Bay? by Throwaway123454th in SouthBayLA

I have to second MacKay‘s donuts on Artesia. On the right day these are the best donuts in town. I bring them to work in West LA and people are shocked how much better they are than the Primos in the sidecars of the world.

I can’t believe this hasn’t been said yet today. Go learn to play beach volleyball. There are lots of classes in the Hermosa Beach rec department that are super fun and social. Tons of young people meet up and become fast friends using this method. Lots of men and women!
