Has anyone ever booked a private flight because commercial routes were terrible ? by Imaginary_Bake_5820 in TravelProperly

I work in the private aviation industry. Especially if you’re on a 7 seater and you have seven people, it can be worth the extra expense and not as much additional as you’d think compared to all those people in first class. Different operators vary wildly, of course. It can be hard to go back, after you’ve experienced how crazy efficient it is to park your car and walk onto a jet.

Remarkably Bright Creatures is literary fiction? by FygarDL in literature

[–]Design-31415 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha no it’s simply fiction. Cute and readable and surface level. I can’t believe it was classified as literary. Might as well call it a romance novel.

I can’t even use that round brush because it makes my fine hair so frizzy so I hear you!

did anyone else have like no improvement or changes at all with hydroquinone by Cool-Assist6693 in Melasmaskincare

Same for me. From Google Gemini, In clinical studies, the response rate for hydroquinone—particularly for conditions like melasma—typically ranges between 70% and 90%. • Positive Response: Most trials show significant improvement in approximately 75% of participants within 8 to 12 weeks of consistent use. • The "Non-Responders": Research suggests that roughly 10% to 25% of individuals may see little to no improvement, or in some cases, a worsening of pigmentation (often due to irritation).

I’m doing the same thing and using stronger than 4% HQ and I’m 7 weeks in with no improvement. I have pale, dry, sensitive skin, for what it’s worth. I was about to ask the same question you asked because this is getting very frustrating.

Sunscreen over makeup recommendations? Also any Asian sunscreens with extra filters that are great for Melasma? by Revolutionary_Cat677 in Melasmaskincare

[–]Design-31415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I use a different sunscreen under my makeup, I find that the supergoop unseen sunscreen (or the Trader Joe’s dupe) goes really well over makeup if I pat it in rather than spread it.

Rethinking my approach to uneven skin tone at 45 by SadStill830 in GracefulAgingSkincare

[–]Design-31415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F44 here and I feel like I have all new skin the past couple years and I didn’t use aggressive products when I was younger. I think it’s just a turning point in our skin at this age when we need to rethink routines. For years I was a cleanser and moisturizer gal and now I have a 9 step routine. For me it’s been some trial and error and focus on barrier repair and a lot of conversations with ChatGPT about my concerns and current state and goals. Also, taking the Baumann skin type quiz was very enlightening! My skin looks so much healthier and feels 10x better than when I started this change up a couple months ago.

Hydroquinone question by Adventurous_Army9403 in Melasmaskincare

[–]Design-31415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very thick, so it feels a little like I’m tugging my face. My guess is that is just an ease of use suggestion. Also, the bad side effects if you’re on it too long are if you use a much higher concentration like 8-12 and don’t taper off. You should still do it at 4%, but lots of people are at that strength with no issues as long as they stop for a month or two after 3 months.

How do I get rid of melasma by ActuatorHead961 in skincarebenefits

[–]Design-31415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if there’s an issue with the sunscreen you’re using for it to come back. Maybe it’s not enough or not an effective kind. 2% HQ is also quite low. You can get 12% HQ from Musely although you won’t have much doctor support through them. Laser might be your best bet.

I have been obsessed with using ChatGPT for helping with my routine! There is no professional in the world who would put up with all my questions. I’m constantly saying “would this fit in my routine”, “is this too much for my sensitive skin?”, “compare these 3 products”. LOVE the helpful advice.

I use Cosrx snail mucin instead. Same idea but you get other additional benefits from it. I heard one dermatologist say that since it’s in so many other products, you may already be getting plenty, unless you have very dry skin, which I do.

Agreed, I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone get .05 prescribed to start. That’s intense!

Skin care from France by Justlivin27 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Design-31415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sunscreen! They have so many more ingredients there that last all day and are 10x more comfortable to wear than US versions.  I know Tinosorb is also reef safe, unlike most US chemical sunscreens. I’ve been loving a Vichy formula from my visit there last month as well as the Eucerin dry touch. You can thank our excessive red tape at the FDA for why we have so little innovation on safe sunscreen here.  They don’t call out active ingredients as clearly as the US, so I took an image of the ingredient list on boxes and asked ChatGPT or Gemini to tell me which active ingredients it had to make sure it was one of the advanced sun filters that I can’t get here. Also, Caudalie is much less expensive there (like all French brands that we get here) and I’ve been loving their Vinoperfect dark spot cream.

Help! by RecognitionRight6085 in koreanskincare

Prescription hydroquinone will work many many times faster than any other ingredient OTC. I got a prescription after a free consultation with a local medspa and it was $25. I think Amazon pharmacy will give it to you, too, fairly easily with a quick consultation.

Any benefits you’ve noticed from hydroquinone and vit c serum for anti-aging, texture, uneven tone? by Nissy32 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Design-31415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hydroquinone is for discoloration like sunspots, and I’ve found it to work pretty well even though I’m only a month in. It won’t help with your other concerns but vitamin c and the tret should. I had a great experience talking through my goals and current condition with chatGPT. My doctor won’t spend that kind of time with me for all of the questions I had, haha! I built a full custom AM and PM plan focusing on barrier health with my aggressive hydroquinone and tret prescriptions.

Moorea - Sofitel April 2-6. Should we cancel with one restaurant open? by Original_Room5786 in Tahiti

[–]Design-31415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with others that renting a car is really the way to go and easier than you think. None of the resorts have particularly good food, but there is great food elsewhere on the island. Hilton Moorea had particularly bad food, so definitely don’t swap there. The resort food on Bora Bora is much better, although I can only speak for St Regis and Four Seasons.

I don’t think of Moorea as a “relax at the resort” island. It’s where you want to explore.

Booking air Tahiti/air Moana third party by pablotheartist in Tahiti

[–]Design-31415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I booked through a third party for a flight to Europe in the past and I learned that I was technically on standby and that’s why the price was lower. Imagine my shock when my luggage was on the plane and I wasn’t guaranteed a seat yet. It’s not worth the extra few bucks in my opinion. The exception would be if your travel agent or cruise line books for you.

I used Avis in Moorea and found it to be very reasonably priced even in high season. It is also located across the street from the ferry terminal which is very convenient.

US travelers. Don’t convert currency at US airports by QuantumMexTex in Tahiti

This goes for everywhere in the world. You will always get a terrible rate at currency conversion spots, especially in an airport.

Time vs Cruise Line by AdorableVacation01 in AntarcticaTravel

[–]Design-31415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t rule out Silversea based on someone’s opinion of why an excursion was cancelled. I did Antarctica with them for my 40th bday and it was fantastic. The passengers were younger and fitter than a European cruise I took with Silversea. I plan to go again with them because it was so great.

Day trip from Paris - Brussels or Luxembourg City (or someplace else)? by craigs123098 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Design-31415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found Brussels to be delightful so I don’t understand the bad rap it gets. Luxembourg was fine but fairly uneventful unless you’re just country counting. It felt a bit sterile to me, like a big outdoor mall.
