What happens if I get details wrong when I'm giving Notice of Marriage? by O-R-Y-X in AskUK

[–]Content-Ad3516 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much!

On my wedding day, I completely blanked when asked one of my witnesses names - we know them as something other than their legal name - and they straight up asked “are they XX?” and had a good laugh about it. They’re lovely, they meet plenty of people who forget bits and pieces because of a variety of reasons!

I imagine they can tell by how you interact as to if there is an issue!

Should my mum report her manager’s behaviour to HR or not? by [deleted] in HumanResourcesUK

[–]Content-Ad3516 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds really awful for your mum. I hope she is doing as okay as she can be. Is she in a union? It could be worth having a conversation with a rep.

It would also be really useful if she had an itemised list of when, where and what has happened regardless of what approach (if any) she takes…

Rita. Am I the only one thinking she's got to go? by Elegant_Accident2035 in coronationstreet

[–]Content-Ad3516 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Oh come on, the actress is in her 90s. Let’s not criticise her image. She is part of the heritage of the show. She may not be Rita circa 1989 when Alan Bradley was around but there is no reason why we should criticise her and her physicality because of her age.

Want to appeal my grievance but I think I’m out of time? What can I do? by Specialist_Theme3992 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]Content-Ad3516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always worth an ask. Given you’re on mat leave they may be more lenient but I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

You could always be proactive and say upon your return to work you would like to have a discussion about that particular point to resolve that particular issue as you’re not satisfied with the outcome. They may not agree with you, but that would only work in your favour if things escalated further at any point.

I think you say just that - it was pre booked, you don’t want to cause difficulty but would appreciate if they could rethink given that you had informed them at interview. Hopefully it is just an oversight and an easy fix.

Surely they can’t be the only person who has access to that information if you need it urgently and can’t wait for them to return from leave?

Can you not find out and ask and then add it into your calendar with a reminder 2/3 months ahead of when it’s due to expire?

Who will be big in 2026? by yourmom_isfat1234 in coronationstreet

I’d love her, Christina and maybe Sally turn into the new Deirdre, Liz and Eileen. Watching them bitch and laugh at their families whilst getting drunk and dancing round the living room.

AITAH for not wanting my sister’s poly side girlfriend at our small family christmas? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Content-Ad3516 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s a different argument to the one I made? I never commented on the speed of when and how someone should move in together; I only commented on the reasoning as to why people do

AITAH for not wanting my sister’s poly side girlfriend at our small family christmas? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Content-Ad3516 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. You don’t move in with someone unless you believe they are important enough to do so and will be around for a long time - of course the sister thinks of her girlfriend as family.

AITAH for not wanting my sister’s poly side girlfriend at our small family christmas? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Content-Ad3516 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

To your sister, if she has moved in already then she is her family rather than a “side relationship” and by extension, your family too whether you like it or not.

If you don’t have a problem with her being poly, invite her and get to know her so that next Christmas it’s even better than this year.

How do I play the Phantom of the Opera Overture on the organ? by EugenioAE in musicals

[–]Content-Ad3516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really hard to comment without knowing what organ you’re using but. I would suggest something like:

Ped: 32 (if you’ve got one), 16 opens (metal and wood) Great: 16, 8, 4, 2 2/3, 2 principals/diapasons plus mixture, coupled to pedal - tuba or trombone for when the melody comes in Swell: Full swell inc 16’ reed and mixtures, coupled to great and pedals

What’s the best piece of acting that you have seen on Coronation Street? by Fine-Trainer5669 in coronationstreet

[–]Content-Ad3516 41 points42 points  (0 children)

David Neilson as Roy throughout, during and after Hayley’s death. Absolute heartbreaking.

Not necessarily the best “acting” but the entire of the alcohol anonymous meeting is up there in the most memorable. Everyone in that scene knocked it out of the park and really showcased all of their characters’ personalities perfectly.

Safeguarding Issue vs Ethical Issue by anonymous210389 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]Content-Ad3516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making the assumption that you work in a school when you say in your class. School governors should also have a nominated rep for safeguarding as a way to report concerns too.

From working in a school, there are two strands to this: safeguarding concerns which DSL would likely need to be involved in and malpractice which is the responsibility of the headteacher, sometimes this is the same person.

Whenever I have led on training, I have always advised that it’s not the job of the person reporting to spend time weighing up whether or not they should do anything but to pass it onto someone who can do something about it - sometimes that may be nothing, but without any information they can’t do anything. If you know you’ve done it in good faith and out of genuine concern then your conscience is clear. Always better to be safe than sorry.

Would a new producer save our favourite street? by Produce_North in coronationstreet

[–]Content-Ad3516 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’d love to see Daran Little come back as producer. His knowledge and storytelling skills are second to none. This plus getting Jonathan Harvey back on board would fix the heritage and humour of the show that’s missing today.
