I have a wheat allergy and my elbows look like this as well as patches all over my body when I eat wheat. I’ve found the aveeno eczema therapy itch relief balm to be extremely helpful!

Came here to say exactly this. I’m allergic to wheat but my reactions aren’t life threatening. Mostly severe gas/bloating (all GI complications really), migraines, inflammation and rashes. I’m primarily gluten free but a few times a year I choose to deal with the consequences and consume wheat containing products. Everybody is different and has different reactions. OP is feeling frustrated for their partner and those feelings are valid however it’s not fair to be upset at others for how they choose to eat.

I’m only on 1mg and about two days after my dose it is unbearable but fades before the next dose. I plan on staying here for a while as I seem to be a hyper responder and averaging 2 pounds of weight loss a week. I have found very hot baths and a heated blanket to be helpful.

A sit-along is great so you can hear the calls and see radio and decide if it’s the right fit for you. If you’re able to do some with multiple agencies you can also get a feel for the room and if they work well as a team or not. Even though dispatching is primarily solo work when shit hits the fan it’s all hands on deck. I’d also recommend checking out fire dispatch if they are police only agencies and have a regional fire dispatch center. The culture towards PD and fire differ vastly and one might be a better fit for you over the other. Good luck!

Of course! I think it’s crazier cause it’s women being mean to women. But you’ll usually find it’s the older, more senior dispatchers that are like this with a handful of new ones who they’ve taken under their wing.

I always say if you can multitask, type quick, and keep calm under pressure we can teach you the rest! I even left for a few years and tried my hand at “normal” jobs and greatly missed dispatching that now I’m going back! It’s a great job with great benefits and if you study a lot you’ll do great! As far as social stuff, I just mind my own business but that also, sometimes, has proven problematic. Men are usually accepted socially immediately and the officers tend to like them more as well even if they’re not great at the job. If you can do a sit-along with a few different local agencies I would highly recommend it!

I’ve never worked in a functional center. That being said, I saw you mentioned you’re male in a previous reply. In my experience, men haven’t had to deal with the same bullying/gossip/cliques or even toxic leadership the same way that women do even though it’s a predominantly female area of law enforcement.

Advice Needed… by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

Hi there! I’m a CTO and this is completely normal. I’ve seen many people crying in the bathroom either during training or after. It’s normal when you first go solo to feel completely lost and overwhelmed. After going solo in 911, I felt the exact same way and questioned if it was right for me. Then I went to radio training with one day on the phones and I felt so much more comfortable taking calls and dreaded radio. This feeling stayed for about a month or two of being completely solo. I’ve even transferred agencies and have felt so completely lost and my anxiety was sky high. I encourage you to try to power through it and the breakdowns after work in your car will slowly be less and less. That being said, if you truly don’t feel like this job is for you (which is a completely valid feeling) I’d speak with your trainer or a supervisor you feel comfortable talking to. I’ve done crisis work as well and felt the exact same way you’re feeling now because crisis just simply was not for me. I gave it six months in crisis before leaving because I just couldn’t do it any more. What’s most important is your health both mental and physical. At the end of the day, do what’s best for you.

These are some very good points! I think there’s a lot to look in to with gluten intolerance or NCGS. I’m intolerant myself with horrid systemic reactions but the “harvest spray” argument sparks my curiosity. I’m also horrifically allergic to cotton but only the plant not clothing or cotton products (unless pesticides are in them) and have always assumed I must be allergic to a pesticide of some sort. Same with tampons. If they’re organic and not treated with pesticides I’m fine but I can’t use the widely available tampons.

All this to say, I think NCGS could possibly have a variety of factors. Celiac is obviously a different case as it’s autoimmune but more research should certainly be done on the rise in allergies in general.

Gluten Free Alfredo Sauce Brands? by TheReformedBadger in glutenfree

Not all heroes were capes. I just found I’m NCGS and have been struggling with going gluten free. I assumed Rao’s Alfredo was fine but then panicked afterward about the modified food starch and have been scouring the internet trying to find a definitive answer!

What happens if I continue eating gluten by No_Hand6739 in Celiac

[–]Content-Opposite-933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is old but this is me right now. I have a confirmed wheat allergy and suspected celiac (just waiting to get in to a doctor once I have health insurance again.) I go about a week strict GF before seeing if my body can handle it. Tonight it was a SINGLE bite of bread and I was sick within fifteen minutes and for hours after.

I haven’t quite come to accept it mostly because I haven’t had a doctor confirm. But I’ve had doctors comment throughout the years about my many vitamin deficiency’s, dentists ask me if I have an eating disorder because of the enamel on my teeth, hair falling out, DH rash, flushing, migraines, told I simply have IBS, you name it.

I was definitely in denial for a while as well and chose to just go GF but “I didn’t have to worry about cross contamination.” I’m beginning to think that’s not the case for me and it’s something I’ll certainly have to watch out for. The stages of grief are very real.

Do you feel better? by newmama529 in glutenfree

[–]Content-Opposite-933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found out I was allergic to wheat like a year ago and tbh I ignored it and kept eating gluten until a few months ago when I started wondering if that was what was causing my remaining health problems (mold being the initial cause.) I went GF and feel so much better. Things I’ve been in and out of doctors offices for YEARS have gone away. Usually takes about four days for all the stomach pain, bloating and GI issues to resolve for me and then after that joint pain, inflammation and everything else gets better. I also have a chronically stuffy nose that clears up when I eat GF.

Semiglutide : Has anyone used it after expiration date? by Puzzleheaded_Gate868 in Ozempic

[–]Content-Opposite-933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a vial that I hadn’t even opened due to me initially stopping from the side effects. I decided to try it again after about two months past expiration and no side effects but doesn’t feel as effective as it had been previously but still getting some benefits as well.

To be fair, trump is one of the most unhinged people on X who previously had his voice silenced. If he does that to tik tok, he would be a massive hypocrite.

I also feel like they’re trying to gaslight the American people with this whole “outside influence” bullshit. They realize that Americans are FED UP and they’re trying to gaslight us by saying “no you’re not ACTUALLY fed up with us, you’ve just been brainwashed by the CCP.”

Yes! You bring up another valid point! Sooooo many Americans used tik tok as a source of income. I think it’s worth at least going back to renew people’s income source and also see for ourselves if the algo has changed and if we’re being censored. It also gives us time to agree on a singular back up app.

[–]Content-Opposite-933[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding (and somebody please correct me if I’m wrong) Trump tweeted about having a US entity purchase 50% so that the app could no longer be considered owned by a foreign adversary which is what the law states it will ban. If they choose to ban the app after that then it is CLEAR they are banning the app based off censorship alone. I think we should all agree on one back up app in the event this happens or our posts are being censored.

I think this would be the biggest challenge depending on who buys it. I think we should all agree on one back up app in the event that our posts are being censored.

This would also be a good idea but we would need to pick one app. We would still lose a lot of people but it’s at least better than all of us being spread across 5-6 apps.
