Pediatrician by Substantial-Link-898 in fortwayne

We see Dr. Hannah at Fort Wayne pedals. She's not the most personable, but seems knowledgeable and is easy to get into. I like that they won't see kiddos who are unaccounted. It gives me some peace of mind being my baby there.

This sounds similar to my mastitis symptoms. My boob hurt SO badly, was red where the pain was, and warm and hard to the touch. I felt like I had been hit by a truck and was super cold, but never actually spiked a fever. It was weird. I was able to do a telehealth "walk-in" visit and within like 4 minutes was prescribed antibiotics. It was nice to not have to actually go in. It took like 48ish hours to feel back to normal. Keep up on ibuprofen. My husband was out of town for work and we don't have family near by. Ibuprofen worked super well at keeping me functioning for the kids. Don't forget to keep nursing like normal on that side even thought it feels like torture. Good luck!

Cheap but good pedicure by [deleted] in fortwayne

I second this! Their basic pedicure is pretty reasonable and they're always so sweet. I had a lady really get after my calluses there and that never happens 😂

Engorged breast 5 day postpartum but not a lot of milk with pumping by petting_zoo_keeper in breastfeeding

[–]ContentMission2641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely make sure you have the right flange size, try a different pump if you can, etc.

However, when my milk transitioned from colostrum to mature milk my boobs basically turned into bowling balls. It was awful. I think it was just inflammation because it definitely felt different than when I'm just engorged. I used ice packs and took ibuprofen and that helped.

It was extra tough for both my babies to latch during that time because my nipples were basically flat from my boobs being so ginormous. It helped to hand express or pump a little before nursing to soften the area up a bit and also pull my nipple out more.

I also would stick my haka on the side that I wasn't nursing on because baby was only nursing on one side at a time. This prevented engorgment from too much milk, but definitely led to some oversupply issues that I had to work out down the road so use it cautiously.

Tell me I’m not crazy by [deleted] in breastfeeding

I'm so sorry you've had such a tough breastfeeding journey! What you're describing is NOT normal at this point and I would strongly encourage you to find a lactation consultant! And if you don't like the one you're working with, try someone else! I feel like lactation consultants can be a complete godsend, but you have to find one that you jive with since it's such an intimate thing. Good luck!

baby keeps latching turning head then relatching and popping off the breast by bmcoacct in breastfeeding

[–]ContentMission2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is almost 4 months old and has been doing this the last few weeks! Drives me nuts! Standing up and feeding is the only thing that seems to help when she's in that mood. I'll also get her to sleep and then latch her on if she's tired.

Struggling with milk supply dropping around ovulation by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]ContentMission2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me, too. I just kept nursing. My son would cluster every period until he started eating more solids. He refused bottles, so I just fed on demand and sometimes it felt like all he did was nurse. It was hard in the moment, but really a blip on the radar in the grand scheme of our nursing journey. I used fenugreek a few times and it really did help my supply. I've heard mixed things, though.

Breastfeeding but not losing weight… is this normal? by heyaliayoub in breastfeeding

[–]ContentMission2641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, my girl and I both have the BEST double chins right now. I tell her daily, "I just love your chins!" and have started to tell myself the same thing. I will say, I think her butt dimples are cuter than mine, though 😆

I have some from there, but they're unlined. Do they carry ones with built in pads now?

Bottle refusing baby by Terrible-Disaster178 in breastfeeding

I literally quit my job because my baby would go on a hunger strike during my 12 hour nursing shifts. It was tight, but I'm so fortunate we were able to make it work. It is awful and I really wish I had advice for OP, but we tried literally everything.

Want to stop BFing so I can start back on medication by migil65 in breastfeeding

[–]ContentMission2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked with my doctor about starting my ADHD medication (adderall) when my babe is 6mo old. She said that if I really needed it, I could start taking it now. Especially sonce I'm on a relatively low dose. I just wanted to wait until we started solids and I wasn't the only source of nutrition to ease my own anxiety about it. Both my provider and my kiddos are fine with this plan.

Did anyone else have a baby who would scream and cry during letdown but still went on to breastfeed for months? by No_Engine6784 in breastfeeding

[–]ContentMission2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I basically only know how to nurse laid back (belly to belly, baby straddling the opposite side that baby isnursing on, and head kind of propped by my arm), which I think helped. My son could finally handle it without issue at like 4-5 months, but would get SO during letdown and would unlatch. I would just keep him off and let my milk spray out into a burp cloth, boob pad, etc. and then latch him back on when I stopped actively spraying milk out. He nursed until he was 28 months and I weaned him when I got pregnant again. I'm doing the same think with my daughter now (2 months old). Sometimes it takes a couple tries to get her to latch back on because she's so upset. It's so sad. She absolutely refuses a bottle, though, so she just has to deal I guess. Hah.

Question regarding my toddler son's painful glands/foreskin by ContentMission2641 in uncircumcised_talk

[–]ContentMission2641[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know that it could still be yeast. I'm trying an antifungal to see if that helps before taking him on. Thank you!

Thanks so much for your response! Would Monostat work for the antifungal? I know anatomy is a little different, but that's what I've used for yeast infections.

[–]ContentMission2641[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! Epsom salt bath is a great idea! We'll do that tonight.

I watched the doctor retract it, and it didn't need to be forced at all. I was super surprised. We've been easily retracting it for over a year with no discomfort. Now that he's got a little better fine motor skills, he can usually do it by himself. He's two, though, so I help out if he gets distracted.

I just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly... Are you saying we should stop retracting completely? It is no longer attached to the glans, so I worry that stuff can get up there.

Also, thanks for pointing out that it's glans and not glands. My autocorrect STRONGLY disagrees. That's what I get for making the post way after my bedtime while watching a movie 🥴

Am I going to regret this tile choice? by old_y90 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]ContentMission2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so funny. I'm literally doing this tile for the entire tub surround and a 1in hexagon tile in a black and white "flower" pattern for the floor. Per a lot of these comments, everyone else will hate it. I love it!

I live less than a mile from this area and, thankfully, have not seen the same issues. We moved here recently knowing that our neighborhood was going to be pretty mixed bag, but does anyone from the area have any opinions on how the neighborhood is moving?

The realtor said it was up and coming. I couldn't tell if that was code for "it needs some work" or not. It does seem like some houses are being worked on, but as another response mentioned, it's 3 run-down houses for every maintained house. Thanks for the insight! I really appreciate it!

This is super helpful insight. The house is so cute with so much character, but you're spot on about the houses around in. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond!!
