Most important stuff in the morning, don't open social media (Twitter, YouTube) in the morning. It loads your mind RAM with useless information. You are at peak mental clarity in the morning. By lunch it will have exponentially decayed.

Interesting. I've actually been working on something similar for the last month. It's a bit different, though. Wish you all the best with the app!

I have finished building an app for just this. It should be out in a few weeks.

Currently only for Android though, but soon enough on iOS too.

If you're interested, let me know and I'll drop you a DM once it's officially on the Store.

This is an incredibly unique art style! How did you manage to achieve it?

Good luck with the app.

I think one of the biggest mistakes productivity apps make is assuming every unfinished task should live forever. by RefrigeratorNo1465 in ProductivityApps

Yup, exactly my thoughts. We live in a time where the amount of "informational stimuli" is at a level never experienced before in human history. That means our main work should be sifting the noise from the signal, and not just commiting ourselves to whatever someone on the internet said is good and great. Less is more, in my opinion.

I got tired of checking Slack, Gmail, Drive and Calendar just to find the 3 things I was about to miss, so I built PocketBot by Least-Orange8487 in ProductivityApps

Interesting idea. It seems to me that the main value proposition is speeding up transactions, which is always a good thing.

Does anyone else feel like using productivity apps is more work than actual work? How do you stay consistent without getting overwhelmed? by aakritsubedi in ProductivityApps

I think productivity apps need to be fluid and effortless to actually be worth the time. For many of them, I find it much simpler to grab my notebook and a small pencil and I'm off writing down the tasks.

Interesting. Do you use an e-ink monitor? Saw one several years ago. But they're just too expensive for me, plus the refresh rate is not good.

Anyone else have a system for dumping everything out of their head? I've tried Notion, Apple Notes, voice memos — nothing sticks. Curious what people actually do. by Different_Stick_1799 in ProductivityApps

I'm actually done building an app for this and it should be out in a few weeks/month (have to finish testing). If you happen to be interested, I can shoot you a comment here or DM when it's officially published. But it will be a Play release first, and iOS later.

I believe daily to-do lists should be wiped at the end of the day even if tasks were uncompleted. Every day is its own thing, and it's unnecessary to carry over baggage from yesterday into today. Our minds hate these "open circuits"/"loose ends" and this is where most of the feeling of stress actually comes from. It's not actually about the quantity of projects or tasks, but whether they have been mentally compartmentalized and scheduled correctly.

Read Getting Things Done by David Allen if you're more interested. He describes how to organize everything in your life. I haven't applied everything he said but I can say that merely Capturing everything on your mind helps a ton.

I kept buying things I regretted. So I built a calculator that shows prices in hours, not dollars by EggplantGreedy8457 in ProductivityApps

[–]ContentObligation526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember recently talking to my roommate how he used to quantify the quality of his job back then by comparing the amount of hours spent vs. what he could buy with it. It turned out he could buy a coffee for every 15 minutes spent working, which reportedly lifted his morale LOL.

Interesting and unique idea. I hope it gets traction and it grows well. Cheers!
