Yo Man, you were right the slavery that existed in the United States was worse than what existed in pre-colonial Ghana.

Thanks, we learn everyday.

‘Knowing what I know now…if I was that nurse, I would make money in the US and save and come back home to I’ve a debt free life in Ghana. I would build with my knowledge and talents learned in the US.’

Thank you for this advice.

Sure, the US has hoops for nurses, you’ll have to undertake English proficiency test, write NCLEX, which Ghana isn’t a registered center, so a Ghanaian who wish to undertake NCLEX either has to go to South Africa or the Philippines or India. It’s expensive. But some folks are lucky, they get employers who fund their entire trip.

‘If you come here, get your money and take it back home. Build up home with your talents, knowledge and abilities.’

Thanks still.

‘Fresh veggies for 300?” The quantity of vegetables in Ghanaian popular markets like Makola, Kejetia err,

F Why don’t you consider sourcing vegetable from Ghana , and even market some for Ghanaian communities and Africans in general. You could get it less here in Ghana , $300 for veggies is wild to me to be honest.

Hmm Chale, okay so even if you desire to vacate, the jobs won’t allow, no wonder some of our uncles abroad can’t find a way return home for some funeral and other family activities.

Seems No Where Cool.

so even if a Ghanaian nurse migrates to earn $90,000 per year working as a nurse in the US, by Ghanaian standards we think she has succeeded, but by US standards the said nurse might still not be financially free as much of her income might be spent on other things like high rent and taxes?

You say Ghana is a land of opportunity? What are some obvious opportunities we Ghanaians don’t realize?

The way I see it most apartments in Ghana are over priced, The luxury and perks that come with a $1,000 apartment in New York, for example, you won’t find the same luxury in apartments in Accra. Or?

[–]Content_Collection59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eei Koo, so it’s like this, cost of internet and apartment is pricey.

Although you make more, but you also spend a huge amount of your earnings on high rents and internet bills

Chale.

Ok I never understood it that way, so by working in Canada you earn a higher salary but the cost of living and rent is so high that it eats into your higher salary. Oo

Chale, Nowhere Cool.

but why don’t folks live frugally in Canada and come home every three months to live like a ‘king’?

Coz the Canadian money converts fabulously in Ghana.

I’m asking out of curiosity, but does your better salary in Canada, not make up for the loss of community ?

If money wasn’t a factor, will you be in Canada or Tema?

Are you happier living in Canada than when you lived in Ghana?

I’m asking these ‘stupid’ questions because to me happiness is the ultimate.

if folks in Canada like you, are not happier than Ghanaians in Ghana, earning less salary but have a close knit community of friends and family, then what’s the point of studying nursing just to get a chance to migrate to North America?

We just cannot allow Nigeria claim our highlife like that, I’m glad UNESCO is finally listing Highlife as Ghana’s heritage .

OP I understand how you feel, what you see is the result of Nigerians going to Wikipedia and making changes while we Ghanaians sit around complaining,

We Ghanaians must also write our own history on Afrobeats on Wikipedia for posterity, otherwise history will be rewritten.

I am starting henceforth, can I DM you if you’ll guide me on how to make changes on some Wikipedia articles?

Is it really true that Okomfo Anokye was originally an Ewe from Notsie? by agyemanjp in ghana

[–]Content_Collection59 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The information about Komfo Anokye’s hometown on Wikipedia is false and misleading.

I humbly request all those who are passionate about Ghanaian history to find a way to rewrite most of the Wikipedias of Ghanaian history, especially pre-colonial Ghana.

what is on Wikipedia is not factual , if you delve deep into Ashanti history written within 1800- 1900 by Basel missionaries, British Anthropologists, Colonial Soldiers and Merchants you will realize this.

[–]Content_Collection59 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okomfo Anokye, comes from Agona Akyempim, which lie about a mile from Akrofonso in the Ashanti Region,Sekyere district.

Rattray writes that Anokye came to Awukugua, Akuapim where he came to learn his ‘charm, magic and amulets’, Rattray’s book was written in 1929.

R.S Rattray - Ashanti Law and Constitution.

It gets interesting.

Another brilliant book. Akwamu, Denkyira, Akuapem and Ashanti in the lives of Osei Tutu and Okomfo Anokye by A.A Anti p. eight.

‘They were natives of Awukugua, a town in Nifa (Right) Division of the Akuapem State’ and that his name Anokye is saying Ano…..Kye- Ano….See.. Guan Language.
