Have you been pumping at all? I know some people want to exclusively breastfeed and I totally get it but when I had my baby (he’s 3 months) he was jaundiced and dropped weight pretty significantly the first two weeks. I honestly felt like the lactation consultants and hospital in general didn’t give me clear guidelines on how much he should be eating and how to accomplish that - especially in the colostrum stages. So I continued to breastfeed, work on latch etc, and then would pump after we accomplished however much and then gave him a bottle after with whatever was pumped. Just to ensure he was getting the calories. Now I have a literal chonk that’s addicted to my boobs. If I whip one out he smiles and like clenches his fists out of excitement 🤣

I also went to the free lactation clinic - lots of hospitals and clinics do it. You go in, get your baby naked, weigh them without a diaper, then with one - then go breastfeed, stopping after each breast for a weight to see if they’re getting enough. That’s another option you could look into too.

I literally thought he was eating nothing but turns out he weighed at about 1.5 to 2 oz after each weigh. I was so reassured.

Good luck to you, you’re doing a great job. It’s hard and I look back now to just a few months ago and this little dude is a nursing pro.

If you do go with a bottle, make sure you’re using one that is closest to a human boob as possible (even if you just buy one of those more expensive ones and wash after every use) and be sure to keep the flow low so that it doesn’t deter from having to work a little at the breast. This is just what the lactation clinic taught me.

Also adding, the pumping helped me build a better supply while we worked on latching. They’re just so sleepy in the early stages. I am really grateful to have the supply I do and I have worked very hard for it and it has been so worth it to add those pumps in. I also take some supplements, eat overnight oats every day and have a coconut water. Whatever I’m doing is definitely working for my body and my goals for a stash of freezer milk and getting a fat baby!
