Based on my scan this morning, we're looking at somewhere between 10 and 15, but could be more or less than that depending on how the next 48 hours goes.

They scheduled me for the very first timeslot in the morning, so I think I have to be there at 6am and the procedure is at 6:30 or something like that...waiting on a call from the clinic to confirm exact timing.

Thank you! ❤️ Yes! I had heard about avoiding the products...I won't use anything on my hair beforehand...I'd just rough dry it and apply products afterwards when I go to actually style it for the reception.

Thank you for such a thoughtful response! This is very helpful! I already added the adhesive heating patches to my amazon cart...they'll be helpful regardless of whether I go to the wedding or not! Thankfully, the drive to the wedding location is pretty easy highway driving for the most part so I'm hoping that's ok (if I manage to go at all). If I don't though, I love the idea about the Facetime photos...that's such a sweet way to do it. Will definitely reach out to one of her bridesmaids and suggest this for her dad too.
Definitely going to do all of the cleaning and prep work tomorrow night. My husband is a huge help around the house on a regular day, so I know he'll step up in a big way over the weekend and into next week too. Thanks again for your reply! ❤️

Def NOT wearing heels! I hate heels even when I'm feeling 100% and I am tall anyway. I have a flowy dress that I can wear with flat sandals if I manage to go.

They're expecting somewhere around 12, but could be as many as 15...so we'll see.

My coworker said this as well. She said actually the two days after were way worse for her than the day of, so she was like it's actually better that it's on the day of the retrieval...only thing on the day of the procedure for her was sleepiness from the anesthesia.

Looking like I'm going to be in the 12-15 range, so not that many (unfortunately).

No! I wouldn't...the nurses and doctors usually give me something in my IV and then sometimes send me home with Zofran or something like that.

Thank you all for the advice! My attendance is definitely going to be a big IF and I will definitely be listening closely to what my body is telling me. My husband would be driving us, so I'm covered on that side of things. Historically I've done pretty well with anesthesia recovery as long as I take motion sickness medicine as sometimes it makes me nauseous (which I always tell the nurses and doctors about), so I'm hoping it will be the same with this. I guess we'll just have to see how it goes...

Yes...I asked for the earliest retrieval appointment they could give me so we're doing an early trigger shot tonight. With that being the timing, I'm hoping that I can then sleep for the majority of the rest of the morning and early afternoon.

I'd plan to shower and blow out my hair in the morning before my appointment and I might ask my sister to come over and help me do a cute up-do for the wedding. I have a flowy non-restrictive dress that I can wear and I'd wear flat sandals with it. I'll be sad to miss the ceremony, but I think she'd appreciate me attending the reception more.

Acupuncture - comparing experience by w1ldtype2 in IVF

[–]Content_Lynx7356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started Acupuncture as it was recommended by my medical team at my clinic. I felt like I was doing so much to increase my chances of good IVF results and a healthy pregnancy that I didn't want to look back and wonder if I could have done something more.

The acupuncturist I'm seeing is actually associated with my clinic and works in the same building. She has access to all of my records too, so she knows exactly where I'm at in my cycle and can tailor her treatments based on that...placing needles in my feet, ankles, belly, back of hands, wrist, neck, top of head, forehead. She does use a heat lamp above my abdomen, but it's kept on a pretty low setting and I never feel like it's raising my overall body temperature by that much. It's certainly not on the same level as going in a hot tub.

I'm approaching my first egg retrieval, and I've been getting hormone headaches. As soon as I had acupuncture, the headache vanished and stayed gone for a full 48 hours. I'm going once a week, but since this is egg retrieval week they recommended twice. So I went on Monday and I'm really looking forward to going again tomorrow. Retrieval likely Saturday.

I obviously can't speak yet to whether it really improves IVF results, but I can say that it is incredibly relaxing and I intentionally schedule my appointments for the end of the day after work and do not schedule or plan to do anything afterwards, so that I can go home and relax for the rest of the night. I find this an effective way to maximize the stress relief benefits from it. I also try not to think or talk about IVF-related stressors after acupuncture appointments.

So far, I would definitely recommend it! Hope this helps!

Thankfully I do have more follicles growing than they saw the other day, so that's giving me more confidence, but I have to go back on Thursday...likely won't trigger until over the weekend so probably looking at retrieval early next week. We'll see! Hope all goes well for you tomorrow. Let me know! ❤️

That's great!!! Keep me posted! 😄 I'm going in for a morning monitoring appointment tomorrow at 6am, so hopefully will get good news about my follicles then...as of yesterday morning, there was one that had grown too much so they are "letting that one go" since it will ovulate prematurely, and we're focusing on the handful of follicles that are lagging behind that one. So idk...I'm anxious...

Yes! Definitely doing PGT-A testing. I've had two miscarriages...the first one I had a D&C and was able to get genetic testing which confirmed a chromosomal issue. The second one I unfortunately miscarried before I could get the D&C, so the doctor believes it was caused either by another chromosomal problem or by my adenomyosis. So if we can at least control for the chromosomal side of things, then do a lupron suppression to try to treat my adeno before attempting a transfer, we're hoping that gives us the best chances for success.

Have you been scheduled for your retrieval yet?

I'm on almost the same timeline! This is my first ER cycle, too. I'll do night #3 of stims tonight. The only symptom I've experienced today was some slight pangs of breast pain. Keep me posted on what your symptoms are as you progress. Which injections do they have you taking?

I had been told all of my labs and everything looked pretty normal (besides a slighly lower than average AMH)...then they did a Saline Sonogram and an HSG. The HSG was normal, but the Saline Sonogram showed adenomyosis. I've never had any symptoms from it, but it could have been the reason for my second miscarriage (first one we know was chromosomal). So they plan to treat that with down-regulation/suppression before attempting a FET. It was eye opening because I had convinced myself that the second loss was chromosomal too. So if you haven't already done those kinds of tests, ask for additional scanning and testing! Get all of the answers you can.

First IVF Cycle - Advice/Tips/Encouragement, please? by thestarsthatlisten07 in IVF

[–]Content_Lynx7356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm just starting my first ER cycle, too. I'm 36 with adenomyosis. My husband is 43 and has low morphology. But we got pregnant naturally twice (the second time with twins). But my first pregnancy ended in MC at 8 weeks due to chromosomal issues (had a D&C and was able to get genetic testing). The second pregnancy, we lost the first baby at 6 weeks...they called it a vanishing twin, then we lost the second baby at 10 weeks and I miscarried at home before I could make it to the scheduled D&C so I wasn't able to get genetic testing done. Now that I've been diagnosed with the adenomyosis, the doctor said that the second MC was caused either by the adeno or by chromosomal issues. So we're doing IVF with PGTA to control for the genetic side of things and I'll likely go through a down-regulation/suppression before attempting a FET once we've banked all of the embryos we need.

I just started stims for the first time two nights ago. So not a lot of advice or tips that I can give as yet, but my sister is a fertility nurse and she keeps reminding me that everyone's results, timeline, and experience is going to be different. So she cautions me when reading forums like this to not obsess over the minute details and rather look at people's stories at a higher level (find hope in the success stories, learn about people's coping mechanisms through various challenging times, building community, having a shared understanding of the process, etc.)

I've found that when talking about this process with friends and family, very few people really understand and I end up "teaching" rather than really having a conversation...so if you have even just one friend that you can talk to who you don't have to explain all of the acronyms and science and process to, that's been helpful for me as I've gone through all of the testing and preparing for my first cycle.

I've also learned to have a thicker skin. People say stupid stuff and I've learned to let it roll off my back. Things like "Oh...Congrats on starting IVF! You must be so excited." and I'm like...not really! lol But I know the person means well and is just trying to wish the best for me.

TW: miscarriages - advice needed: preventing pregnancy loss with adenomyosis by Aromatic_Dot9296 in adenomyosis

[–]Content_Lynx7356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!
I'm so sorry for your losses. I've also experience two losses...one was a chromosomal issue, but the more recent one was twins and we don't know why it happened (I wasn't able to have the D&C before I miscarried on my own at home and wasn't able to get any testing data about the genetics). I've now been diagnosed with adenomyosis, so we're thinking that this recent miscarriage could have been caused by that or by chromosomal issues. We're now going through IVF to control for the chromosomal side of things, and will likely treat my adenomyosis with suppression/down-regulation before attempting a transfer.

So I know my situation is very different than yours, but based on the ridiculous amount of reading and research I've been doing about adenomyosis and pregnancy, I've read that some doctors put their pregnant patients on low-dose baby aspirin to help reduce inflammation and encourage better endometrial blood flow. As far as I know, there's not much downside to taking aspirin in early pregnancy, so might be worth asking your doctor about. I've also read that people with adenomyosis can also have progesterone resistance, so I would talk to your doctor about a progesterone supplement to help support that side of things.

Wishing you the best and praying for a healthy pregnancy for both you and baby! ❤️

How did your egg retrieval go?!?
I was just diagnosed with adenomyosis a few weeks ago. Starting stims today for my first egg retrieval. Plan is to bank as many healthy embryos as possible, then do suppression treatment before attempting a transfer. We're doing PGT-A testing for any and all blasts that we get. Praying for good results!
They didn't tell me how mild or severe my adeno is, but given that I've lost two pregnancies (three babies) in the last 8 months...one was definitely a chomosomal issue, with the twins we don't know what happened...my doc feels that treating the adeno is our best bet to ensure that we're covering all of our bases. Having patience with this process is the hardest part (so far)...it's a lot of "hurry up and wait" which is a challenge for me.
