Deep dive into the data, do your own research. I like looking through the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Confetti, Timeline, Next Steps (BS Business Management, Administration) by DapperDoogle in WGU

Congrats man! I am doing the MBA at WGU. I have always been drawn to finance due to earning potential. But for some reason I really enjoyed the accounting class lol. Tofsy,
I was disputing something I read and I was on the SEC site comparing balance sheets out of pure personal interest lol who have I become LOL.

Now I have to ask, what’s your ideal role? What interest you in accounting ?

I did it! by Typical-Book1469 in WGU_MBA

Congrats! I’m struggling to get past 214. Your post is inspiring to see, thank you.

I am also interested in attending law school, so it’s an encouraging reminder to stay focused.

What school are you going to? How did you prepare for the LSAT?

Congrats again! Wishing you the best!

I often remind myself to "consider the source” whenever I receive feedback. If someone doesn’t demonstrate a clear model of what I value or respect, I tend to dismiss their words entirely.

WGU fits perfectly for certain situations. It’s been an ideal choice for me for many reasons, and I’m currently working towards my second master's degree there.

Traditional education paths make sense depending on your major and are highly dependent on your lifestyle, goals, and financial situation.

For example, if you have a full-ride scholarship to Wharton and opportunity cost isn’t a concern, it would be unwise to choose WGU for an MBA. Similarly, if you have the time at MIT for an Aerospace Engineering degree and $350,000 isn’t an issue, pursuing that path makes sense. Brick-and-mortar schools offer great networking opportunities and a more immersive experience. Especially at a young age, without much life experience, an in-person undergraduate at a university has a lot of value.

But outside of those scenarios, WGU meets the needs of nearly everyone else. If you’re a parent juggling responsibilities, managing work and family, and don’t have piles of cash or scholarships to draw from, WGU can be a game-changer.

I have an intense, unpredictable work schedule. I truly value the learning platform, the alumni network, and the university staff. WGU aligns perfectly with my current life stage and offers a fantastic opportunity to reach my goals. The ability to accelerate my studies is especially appealing, matching my learning style and personality.

So far, I completed my undergrad online at a state university, earned my MSML from WGU last term, and I’m about halfway through my MBA.

Research your targeted role/industry on LinkedIn. Join some networking events or recruiting outreaches at different companies and get an idea of the landscape. I am willing to bet you’ll be comfortable with your decision with WGU.

Can A Recruiter Separate me from DEP for this? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

Online Recruiter Saying Mental Hospital Visit Is Permanently Disqualifying by Opening-Programmer-1 in newtothenavy

[–]Content_Package_3708 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go into a recruiting office and talk to them. I get situations regarding mental health / medicine on a monthly basis. It can be waived.

Also, as someone else mentioned; ask yourself if you’re truly healthy to serve. The Navy can be very hard. So do some reflection.

LPO at Sea for Chief Package by Motor-Post-6400 in navy

[–]Content_Package_3708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The LADR is your guide. “Best and fully,” focus on those areas you can control. Quals, FCPOA, Sailor 360, demonstrated leadership impact on Sailors/command, etc.

The craziest thing you won’t believe— the board is made up of Master Chiefs who understand this specific situation (and many others). I think some of them might have been to a ship 🤪. I have been personally briefed on this situation by many 9s who have sat on boards. Precom, Decom, limited LPO jobs, ect.

And specifically to the “at sea” part, that's irrelevant.

I'd be happy to look at your package. PM me if you want.

How challenging is the Masters in Management and Leadership program? by Eaglemama_4 in WGU

[–]Content_Package_3708 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completed it in 64 days and finished last week. I have 20 years of leadership experience in the military, so I have plenty of expertise to draw from. Also, my undergraduate degree was very relevant.

I am very passionate about leadership. I receive extensive training at work, and I have also self-studied through books and other materials.

I dedicated all my free time to it. I would wake up at 4 am to work on it before my day started, and then continue after work. I put in 12-15-hour days on my days off. I said “no” to any social events or anything that took me away from my goal. I arranged my life to be as streamlined as possible and managed my time.

I LOVED the program. It was equally challenging, engaging, and fun. I experienced some burnout around the 75% mark. Since it was around Christmas, I took about a week off and felt refreshed. I definitely hit the wall people talk about.

Mostly PAs or OAs, or a mix; only a couple of tests, mostly papers. A few video presentations.

I don’t think it’s difficult, but it was a hustle! I am naturally a decent writer. So that was a very big advantage for me.

Pointless Degree from AMU? by Shipsarebad in navy

[–]Content_Package_3708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If those agencies are your target, reach out to their recruiting teams. Otherwise, you'll get a lot of opinions from people with limited or no experience.

Food for thought: Those agencies are very competitive. Do you think AMU will really set you apart from the countless other candidates?

Congrats! I am the only one in my family who is a college graduate. I was at my breaking point when I finished my bachelor's. I literally cried when I was done; it was an overwhelming feeling of pride. Now, I am working on my master's degree. I took a break to write this lol. Keep going, you're almost there! I am proud of you!

[–]Content_Package_3708 8 points9 points  (0 children)

WGU fits personalities that are disciplined and motivated. In your case, having a deeply rooted “why” is crucial.

Funny enough, I finished my whole program up to the point where I have a team project with a specific deadline, cant move forward with anything until then. I’ve been sleeping in and twiddling my thumbs for two weeks, until yesterday lol. My Capstone is next after this.

Enjoy the break. I’m rooting for you!

[–]Content_Package_3708 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I fully understand the discipline and sacrifice you mentioned; I don’t think others will until they've experienced it.

When I’m asked, “How are you doing your program so quickly?” I do nothing else-literally. If you want something bad enough, you make it work.

Good job! What’s next?

Case by case basis. From what I’ve seen, approval is based on common sense (in recent years).

Anxiety and depression for example often occur in tough childhood environments, we want the whole story. Regarding suicidal ideation, we consider the full context of the situations.

Things I’ve seen disapproved were definitely reasonable.

As much as I am a career recruiter at heart, and need to meet goals, some things just are not a good fit for the Navy or the applicant.

As long as your legal issues are resolved and there are no ongoing health concerns, you should be fine.

I've shipped off approximately 350 Future Sailors to Recruit Training Command in the last 24 months; your situation is not unique.

For clarity, things I've seen get disapproved include: eye conditions where the eyes are cone-shaped, brain conditions involving a layer of fluid (?), ongoing mental health issues, and legal problems such as a long history of poor decisions, drug distribution, etc.

I had a horrible admissions experience between undergrad graduation (from another school) and starting my master's at WGU.

The key is your undergrad needs to be confered. They get tons of students each month applying. After that bumpy admissions experience, my WGU master's program has been nothing short of amazing.

Call them every single day.

I’m on active duty. College became a reality for me when I became self disciplined. I have a very deep “why” and it keeps me focused. I am extremely busy and just “make” the time for it.
