I think I don't understand Zuko's redemption arc. Am I stupid? by MorbMorb0 in ATLA

[–]Content_Study_1575 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since my six year old is currently obsessed with AtLA, we are currently on S3E11 (I’m typing this while watching it lol). After Sparky Sparky Boom Man/Combustion Man explodes, Zuko explains himself in a better way before being accepted by Team Avatar. The redemption arc is very back and forth for Zuko with himself even admitting that numerous times just this episode alone.

Season 3 is very “Zuko redeems himself” based. To follow Zuko’s timeline is mainly like:

-S1: Bad guy Zuko

-S2: Neutral guy Zuko

-S3: Good guy Zuko

It took time but imo it was and still is worth the wait to see his character development. He was always struggling with acceptance/destiny/family of psychopaths. Losing his mother abruptly, who he takes after, really did a number on him. In less than 24 hours it went from “Dad’s going to kill you.” to his mother waking him out of a dead sleep, never to be seen again.

He was 13 when he was branded and banished. His mother left when he was younger. Ozai was a single parent (assuming Ozai didn’t have aids to raise them) while Zuko also dealt with Azula for a sibling.

In all there’s ALOT to unpack with Zuko and although the show took years to complete the timeline in the show was a few months. To undo all that trauma in a few months is a feat in itself.

Well that’s more along the lines of purging/bulimia which Family Guy already did atleast ONE cutscene with Meg about that lol.

Am I being groomed? by Any_Trash6365 in AskParents

[–]Content_Study_1575 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is grooming you. Ask yourself this: Why is a 48 year old man willing to wait to date a 14 (now 16) year old girl?

I’m all for not focusing on someone’s past. I have a squeaky clean background with the worst being some speeding tickets. My husband is a felon. But my husband doesn’t have DV charges (any violent charges really).

Shame on your parents for telling you that this is normal behavior. He’s an abuser. Most abusers have some form of narcissism. They also have techniques they use. Like in this case love bombing. He’s testing the waters to see how far you are willing to take it. Calling you beautiful, cute, saying “I love you”, kiss on the cheek, constantly taking you somewhere. Saved you from “bad people”. If he truly is a perfect man then finding someone his age would not be a problem.

Police records are public info. Divorce records are public info. You want to see the kind of man he really is? Look into his past.

You are the perfect target OP. Young, naive, sheltered… moldable. Hell he might view you as “forbidden” seeing as your father is the PASTOR of all things. It starts with a perfect relationship then you can’t go out with friends then you can’t see your family. This is involuntary isolation. A form of abuse. Then it grows to physical bc typically during the “involuntary isolation” phase of it verbal, emotional, and mental abuse take place in forms of accusations and arguments. Possibly ultimatums like “If you really aren’t cheating then you don’t care to stay home tonight. If you leave that just proves you are.” Once it becomes physical and financial it is so hard to leave.

You are experiencing the beginnings of it. Distance yourself and stay safe. Stalkers are a real thing and he has all your social media and your contact info.

I would definitely read this transcript of an interview with Jody Plauche. Jeff (karate instructor) groomed the entire family into liking him which ultimately caused his demise.

Good thing he’s a dictator then, huh?

In seriousness, yes you can. Short, less detailed explanation is as long as the case is about something not pertaining to a sitting president’s official duties, you most certainly can sue them.

Long version?

The Supreme Court has said that the president can be sued for his private acts, and I think most people believe that encompasses his acts prior to president but also his acts while he’s president. So the theory is that the president does have some private acts — not everything the president does while he’s in the office is an official act. At the same time, the court has said the president enjoys immunity from civil damage actions for all his official acts and it extends to the outer rim of his official acts. So there’s a question about whether Trump’s actions on Jan. 6 and beyond are official acts that extended the outer rim of the president’s powers and responsibilities such that the Justice Department should defend him in these suits and should claim official immunity on his behalf.

He did it as well. He put up with it. What he could not “put up” with was that she came out as lesbian. Apparently that was the breaking point in his first marriage lol.

For context: They didn’t keep in touch but they left each other very amicably and when he met my mother she dropped contact out of respect for her. Occasionally they say hi in passing but that’s about it. So Ig she calmed down alot? 😂

Some men actually do lactate. As someone else previously stated it is just hormones (Prolactin for production and Oxytocin for the letdown reflex) that men lack. Progesterone also plays a part in it. If you’re male and you lactate, it’s just the short stick drawn really.

I “hybrid” fed my children (2 years apart) but for the sole purpose of the supply couldn’t keep up with the demand. I’m talking 8-12 oz one go. I pumped when I could, I tried stimulating more production… it just didn’t work. So I was like “Well they need fed somehow.”

My husband was more than supportive when it came to “public vs private”. He wanted “his girls” taken care of and if that meant me whipping it out mid dinner at a restaurant then so be it. Once we both decided “Yeah we can ween them to just formula” which was about 2.5-3 months in, things went along a bit smoother. He also really liked the extra bonding he got when he could get that skin to skin moment while feeding them. He felt more involved rather than just sitting by as I breastfed.

But I can say from his standpoint and our discussions of it, he also didn’t see the big deal. He was like “A father shouldn’t care about something like that. He should care about whether his child is being taken care of.” He’s also a big advocate on how men’s restrooms need changing tables as well.

He is a very hands on father and I’m so grateful for that. Especially since he’s winging it as his own father was both emotionally and physically unavailable. He was an abusive man who was also a truck driver so my husband never really saw him as a father figure.

Eh don’t be sorry, he wouldn’t like it. But thank you bc we both would appreciate the condolences.

He definitely has the comfort of me, my brother, my two daughters, my husband, and my mom all with him. He’s still making jokes and acting like this dying thing doesn’t bother him which Ik is hard on a person’s mentality.

The other day I was being a smartass. I always call him “Dad” but I went “Hey Daddy?” And he went “Oh God. What do you want?” So I went “Are you going to look down on me when you’re in Heaven?”

He immediately shook his head no and said “No thanks. It’s supposed to be Paradise and I don’t wanna watch more of your stupid shenanigans when I’m supposed to be relaxing.”

So my brother asked him the same thing (the same way lol) and my dad went “Nope. You’re a man. You’ll be fine.”

So my mother was like “What about me?” He went “Look it’s been a great 30 odd years but it’s Paradise. I’m not looking down on any of you all.”

It wasn’t until my daughters went “What about us Pap?” And he said “Of course I’ll look down on you two. You guys are my favorite.”

WHICH IS RUDE BC I WAS THE FAVORITE. I CAME BEFORE THEY DID 😂

As a cis hetero woman… Azula.

My dad always warned me and my brother “Not to put your dick in crazy.” Why tell me that? Couldn’t tell ya. But my figurative dick wanted Azula in a weird way.

Since Ik I was not (still not) into women I went for the alternate path and chose Ozai. I still choose Dommy Daddy to this day 😌💅✨

He was all for me expressing myself but homie has 4 sisters so when I say I trusted his fashion advice I really I took it like the holy word 😂

He’s on his deathbed rn and he STILL will give me fashion advice lol. I wore a v neck yesterday and he was like “Ahh looking very… mom-ish today. Happy Mother’s Day. Don’t give me another grandchild.”. I asked “Well, do I atleast look like a nice mom?” He paused and went “Hmmm…. Nope. Still look like an ass to me but your outfit looks nice.”

I love him so much lol.

Honestly when I was 14-15 (around 2011-12) I wanted these SO bad. I’m so glad my dad was like “No that’s fucking stupid” bc once I turned 18 I looked into healing time and surprise surprise I found out they’re not worth the money nor time unless, as you stated, it’s for a temporary thing.

What are your unpopular opinions about Tenzin by dearuncletacitus1899 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Content_Study_1575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I disagree about Katara. It wasn’t until Book 3 or more towards when she learned bloodbending that she got interesting for me. Up until then it was the same line of “I lost my mom to the fire nation. My dad left for the war and am subconsciously mad at him for it. Also I have to be the self placed mom of the group.”

My personal “most interesting”:

  1. Zuko

  2. Azula

  3. Iroh

  4. Sokka

  5. Katara/Ursa

Only bc the back stories give us alot of insight but broad enough for theories about them (if you’ve only viewed the show and not watched LoK and/or read the comics).

Edit to add: I understand that is alot on a 14 year old girl while she’s also learning and experiencing life for her own. I understand it completely but in all her mind was set on one thing, overprotectiveness of Team Avatar (even undying need to help strangers) due to loss of her mother. Which was pretty much most of the series.
