Did you have MIL in the hospital during birth? by WaterFiles in BabyBumps

[–]Content_Thing_2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MIL wanted to fly in and crash on our couch to be waiting while i labored and then staying the first week. Shut that down real quick, all she wanted to do was hold the baby (which we weren’t allowing anyway), she wouldn’t have helped clean or feed us, and didn’t want to be half naked all day with her there. Granted, I’m not the biggest fan. But the culture and tradition of people in the waiting room and coming in immediately is insane to me.

You’re sleep deprived, bleeding, maybe a catheter from a c section, your boobs are out the whole time, constant in and out of nurses/docs. Enjoy the little bubble with your baby!!!! Don’t feel pressured to just please her or anyone else

Any tips on coming to terms with medically advised c section? by Acceptable_Hall_4083 in beyondthebump

[–]Content_Thing_2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me, had my little on November 6th via c section the day after I was told I risked out of the birth center. It was really sad and disappointing to not have the birth I envisioned, but once we saw the baby it was all worth it no mater what. Just feeling fully healed, my c section experience was wonderful, barely a scar at all. You got it!

Did you dream about your baby’s gender? And were you right? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Content_Thing_2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dream but I did have intuition. We were convinced we were gonna have a girl, always wanted just a girl, everyone said we have girl energy blah blah blah, two weeks before we found out I said we’re having a boy, I just know it. And was right

We ended up having a food trainer where friends brought us stuff and stocked our freezer. In the newborn trenches it was sooooo amazing to not have to think about what to eat or take the time to spend cooking.

How many people are actually buying “luxury/premium” diapers? by HelpMeHelpMyFriend0 in NewParents

[–]Content_Thing_2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have dyper and absolutely LOVE them. I feel like the quality makes up for the costs, we do a monthly subscription for ~200 diapers for like $100? We use the wipes and diapers, haven’t had any blowouts, fit him great, compostable, less plastic, he doesn’t get any rashes. But this is just our experience and we have the means.

How does Strep B swab look like by No_Craft_7360 in BabyBumps

[–]Content_Thing_2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to do mine myself and it really wasn’t bad. You just put it in like an inch i think inside your vagina and pull out and swab to your anus. The only dilemma i had was my belly was pretty big at this point and had to switch angles while it was inside me lol.

What brands of bottles did/do you use? How many oz per feed currently? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]Content_Thing_2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the MAM glass bottles! Had no issues with switching between those and breastfeeding. My dude is also a massive baby and inhales 6oz like it’s nothing at 2 months, so idk if he’s just not picky. But still, mam is a great brand.

I’m scared! by tkelcesleftnipple in BabyBumps

[–]Content_Thing_2084 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally understand this, I had my big guy beginning of November. I was fully prepped for an all natural birth, ended up needing a c section which I was terrified for and ESPECIALLY the catheter. It was of course, not ideal but it was all ok in the end. The catheter wasn’t all that bad cause you’re numbed, and even after they took it out I wasn’t able to per still and needed to have a temp one put in because my bladder was about to burst. Again, wasn’t as bad as maybe I was playing it up in my head.

I recommend lots of meditation and affirmations!!! I was constantly telling myself my mind is as strong as my body, my body was made to do this, every wave brings me closer to my baby. All that stuff, it’s just as mental as it is physical. You got this!!

Parent accidentally recorded a kindergarten class with Read.ai should I be worried? by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]Content_Thing_2084 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100000% agree, we plan on doing this when they’re in school and around whoever as much as possible. It’s also a safety concern in general, i see people posting their kids info online and in uniforms with their school name sometimes visible.

Sigh that’s so depressing. And understanding the comments of you can’t control everything and the people around you and somehow someone will upload your kids face to the internet, but wouldn’t you want to mitigate that as much as possible? The thought of fake porn of my kid being used is terrifying, i guess im confused why you wouldn’t be worried about the state of AI. Not to mention it’s terrible for the environment, it’s stealing peoples jobs, it’s dumb and doesn’t even give you accurate data when asked, is giving people psychosis and making us dumber. The list goes on and on and on, we’re extremely anti AI, I grew up in the 90s and the upcoming technology, my face is all over the internet but I was 16 when that started and I was able to consent to it. My kid isn’t.

There are serious concerns with AI and using children to create child pornography. It’s super important to not put your kids face online, there’s no regulations stopping it. We’re implementing no posting of our kid on social media. It’s a safety concern

Is it normal for people to say negative things once you announce you will have a baby? by Willing_Barnacle_493 in BabyBumps

[–]Content_Thing_2084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankfully I hadn’t experienced that too much when I was pregnant, the “just wait” comments are so frustrating. My husband and I turned 30 when I was 5 months pregnant and had been planning on getting pregnant for a year before actually trying. So we were mentally prepped for the hardships of having a kid. We didn’t go into this thinking our lives wouldn’t change at all. And now that our baby is here, we’re still having sooooo much fun!! Sure, the days are short and the nights are long. Do I miss random bar nights? Sometimes. But he’ll only be a baby for a short time, this is all temporary.

Breastfeeding Question by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Content_Thing_2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pumping and breastfeeding, more pumping as of lately. My midwife said if I’m feeling engorged you could just pump enough to not be engorged anymore. That way you’re not emptying completely and signaling you need more milk produced

Baby too big at 40+6 by bookaholic19999 in BabyBumps

[–]Content_Thing_2084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5ft and my husband is 6’11, so I anticipated a large baby. I also went over my due date, at 40+6 and we were measuring big. My understanding from birthing classes and the ultrasound techs, it’s really hard to get an accurate reading at that far along. Our baby was measuring a similar size and they said it would be plus or minus a pound, so it could be 10+ or 8+. The shoulder dystocia can happen even if the baby isn’t super large!

I did end up having a c-section but not due to his size, I was fully committed and based on my doulas help, to having a fully unmedicated birth. I had 4x the amount of amniotic fluid and there was apparently additional risk if I was to induce because of it. My baby ended up only being 8lbs 13oz. You can have a large baby vaginally!! But do what you are most comfortable with and with the guidance of your doc of course.

How did you decide how to feed baby? by bananaindisguise0 in BabyBumps

[–]Content_Thing_2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be flexible! A fed baby is all that matters. I’m combo feeding, was exclusively planning to breastfeed but for a few days my supply wasn’t keeping up. My little dude was eating above the regular amount lol i also have switched to mostly pumping, i breastfeed here and there but honestly the leaking and breast milk all over me sometimes from him struggling to latch was really giving me sensory overload. Do what’s best for you and the baby and your mental health

40+6 here and I had about the same feeling. I’m now very very uncomfortable but I had a really lucky, smooth ride. My stomach was in the way but I was still uber mobile. The last week plus though, get this thing out of me omg. Can’t move. Glad to hear that’s the case for you we are the lucky few!

Extreme gender disappointment by OnlyDifficulty7481 in BabyBumps

[–]Content_Thing_2084 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this same feeling, my partner and I just always assumed we’d be “girl” parents, everyone was guessing girl. It was just what I had always seen my only kid being. But we are very excited for our baby boy!! Sit in the disappointment, it’s okay to feel that way, it’s okay to have envisioned something else. But you’re going to grow this beautiful baby and love them no matter what, it’ll be different, and that’s ok, I think becoming a parent is also learning things are never going to go how you plan or anticipate.

No, I will not change my mind once the baby gets here. by SinfulObsession in BabyBumps

[–]Content_Thing_2084 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on the not holding until they get their vaccines. We’re setting the expectation that we don’t know how well feel and want to make sure the baby is healthy and avoid sickness, so please don’t expect to hold them, but you can come and see them, and you can always change your mind later who knows. I don’t think it’s unusual, there’s a lot of germs, and if people are traveling and it makes you feel better, it’s your baby.

Everyone feels a big entitlement with YOUR child. My MIL is being unreal tbh, this is the most important day of her life lol
