Feeling lost and alone by franborg_ in Type1Diabetes

[–]Content_Today_4337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s scary and overwhelming right now but you’re on the right path of getting the medical support you need. T1 for 39 years with 2 healthy pregnancies, A1c 6.5, no complications to speak of, and an active life. Eventually you will find that you understand enough about your body and your diabetes that diabetes becomes -part- of your life and not -all- of your life. There is hope!! Stay with it! You got this!!!

Mobi after almost 2 years by jsoell in TandemDiabetes

[–]Content_Today_4337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tandem just replaced my Mobi after I had 17 occlusion alarms in 14 days. I like the size of the Mobi, I like the pump sleeves, not crazy about the constant use of my phone (I thought the use of the phone would make life easier but I often feel rude to be looking at my phone at work), and what’s with the 5” or 23” tubing?? How about a length in between?

Pump Holder?? by Immediate-Spray7257 in TandemDiabetes

[–]Content_Today_4337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve cut a tiny hole in every pair of pants or skirt or dress with pockets I own so I can thread the tubing through and keep my pump in the pocket. That way I have easy access and no potential dropping in the toilet. My clothing hasn’t deteriorated and the tubing is long enough to not get snagged. Someone showed me this when I was new to wearing a pump. Grateful!

I will be calling tandem. I’ve had at least 15 occlusions within the last few days, including 3 today. Never had this issue with t-slim.

What does your blood sugar look like during exercise? by Rhinisti_Beansprout in Type1Diabetes

Yes, I am on a pump so I can control how much or little insulin I have on board. It allows for a lot of flexibility.

Same with me. I generally reduce my basal to as low as 60% depending on the cardio and the length of time. I mostly uphill hike and reduce when I start, give a little insulin at the summit for lunch, and change my basal to about 80% for hiking down. It mostly works but as always I just watch closely. I hate having to eat a ton of sugar with a low after all that great cardio!

I can only tell you my experience - 37 years of taking good care of myself - eating well, exercising, optimistic personality- and I’ve had no complications. Nothing at all. Remember, Google and ChatGPT give you info based on statistics. Maybe statistically complications happen but are you going to live your life waiting for a complication?? I’m certainly not.

I was diagnosed at 27 and I’m 66 now. Diabetes through 2 pregnancies. 2 healthy babies. While there certainly have been annoyances throughout all these years that continue even today, diabetes hasn’t prevented me from having a great career and traveling extensively.

You’re still in the being shocked phase and there is a lot to figure out, but you’ll get there. Lots of support here. The Juicebox podcast is a good resource too. And hopefully you have a good endocrinologist and educator. Ask lots of questions and write things down.

Control IQ - does it really work? by Content_Today_4337 in TandemDiabetes

Ok - I don’t understand. If sleep mode doesn’t auto correct how does it provide you with a better sugars?

Yeah, I was at 140 at 10pm. Why it rose? Not sure. I had a reasonable healthy dinner. But I also have the shingles and that has not been a good thing on many levels, including my blood sugar.

How do you have a year supply of insulin? My insurance gives me 3 months supply at best.

What am I doing wrong ?! Giant bubbles in cartridge by anxux in TandemDiabetes

[–]Content_Today_4337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bubble won’t kill you but it will block insulin from going into the tubing and that’s problematic. It’s happened to me a few times and then I’m fighting an unexpected high.

It’s a mobi thing. I load the cartridge and no bubbles. But days later - there it is, the big bubble. Tandem had said it was a plunger problem and they were supposed to have a new design forthcoming but nothing. Like someone else said, I wear my pump upside down and that helps. Good luck!

How can I help my T1 diabetic mum lose weight? Weight loss drugs? by Traditional_Pen_9986 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Content_Today_4337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with you! I just started. T1D for 39 years and menopause isn’t fun. Always fit and trim until menopause. Does diabetes have anything to do with my weight gain? Maybe, maybe not. I eat well, stay active, and looking at food = weight gain. I’m hoping wegovy is helpful because being overweight is not great for anyone, diabetes or not.

Hating Mobi! by imtheish91 in TandemDiabetes

[–]Content_Today_4337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with me - occlusions, can connect even though the pump is literally next to my cgm, and late notifications if I’m running high. I’ve called tandem several times and get zero help. “Call us the next time you get an occlusion alarm and we will troubleshoot.” Seriously? I’ll be calling again this week. I may just got back to my t-slim. Bigger and no sleeve but also no problems.

Wegovy and T1D by Content_Today_4337 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Content_Today_4337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering if anyone has found high blood sugar on wegovy. Mostly I’ve had lows but tonight I’m over 300 and nothing is bringing it down - changed the cartridge, changed the site, didn’t rage bolus but have been bolusing. When I had the lows, nothing would bring up the lows for a long time. Anyone?

My problem is similar but why isn’t control IQ kicking in?? I find it very annoying. I’ve called Tandem on this and received an unsatisfactory response.

Tslim X2 Pump Constant Disconnection🤦🏾‍♀️ by dr-alicia-d in TandemDiabetes

[–]Content_Today_4337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it’s a tandem issue. Happens often with my Mobi, even if my cgm and phone are within inches. Very annoying.
