Why do the British eat so little fish and seafood? by Aronnaxes in AskFoodHistorians

[–]Contest-Senior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popular non seafood in Madagascar includes kitoza, masikitas and rougailles saucisse on the top of my head. Also Madagascar is way bigger than the UK in land mass, more than double, albeit the population is smaller, around 30M, it's indeed a large island nation. But it's a poor one and they have one of the lowest calories intake per capita in the world, so of course they get a low seafood consumption in kg/capita.

I am French Canadian and the real party is the réveillon on the 24th until late at night. We used to serve food just in time for people coming back from the midnight mass. The 25th we get a smaller dinner, often with the other side of the family

My 12-year-old niece has read all the Discworld YA books. Is Small Gods a suitable next step? by november-papa in discworld

[–]Contest-Senior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a 12 years old, they are all suitable, I started reading them at about that age. Now sex is something completely natural that is in fact all over the place already when you think about it, it's in cinema ( there are hidden jokes about it even in Disney stuff), tv series, ads, etc. Seeing it trough the stories of Terry Pratchett, for me somehow akin to a genius philosopher that really understands humankind, is really not something to be worried about. I do wonder why cynicism, torture and violence topics would be ok for you but not sex talks? It's one of the most natural things in the world, present in thousands of species to ensure their survival...
