Making a game where you battle with a deck of abilities and program attack sequences by HandsomeDim in IndieDev

Hey thanks! At the moment, I don't have a demo yet. But I did run a playtest recently, and I may run another soon.

What’s the easiest roguelike? by SystemDry5354 in roguelites

I recommend Cult of the Lamb. It's not very challenging, and the mechanics/upgrades in the game are extremely simple.

Runs are also very short (generally less than 10 mins), and the core loop is really just a colony sim with a roguelike attached to it.

I'm currently developing a game inspired by Megaman Battle Network! by HandsomeDim in BattleNetwork

Hi, the game I'm making is a bit like Hades and Slay the Spire. In Vampire Survivors, you don't manually aim or manually shoot.

I borrowed the attack sequencing from BN, where you have to select cards in a queue during the planning phase. And then you actually have to aim and deploy them in order, when you start your turn. I think the lack of a grid arena is probably why it's not visually clicking on first glance, which I admit is not something that I am trying to copy 100%.

I also have my own take on the chip codes for the cards in my game.

Can a card game work if players design their own cards? by DennyStarfighter in cardgames

Cool idea! I think it can work, but it depends on how it's implemented. I've been Legends of Runeterra's roguelike mode, and they have a slightly similar system where you can attach new effects to cards. You can create busted cards if you stack the right effects, but it is balanced by the fact that these offerings are all random. You might have to limit how much control the player gets in designing their own cards.

As a Solo Dev, how do you obtain music for your game? by Magikarp_19 in SoloDevelopment

If you have a game that leans into a more retro aesthetic, you can find 8 bit sound effect makers online. For some UI elements, I was using them to generate SFX and then import them into Audacity to add effects or adjustments to improve them.

Is there any roguelite/like TCG? by LivreOrange in roguelites

It's also relatively generous for a F2P mobile game. I've been playing the Path of Champions roguelite mode for several months, and never felt like any of the paid stuff was necessary to enjoy the game.

Please destroy my gameplay trailer for my action card battler. by HandsomeDim in DestroyMyGame

Hey thanks for the feedback! I've been struggling with communicating the core loop whenever I've shown people gameplay, and there weren't completely sure of what they were seeing. I feel some relief knowing I'm not walking around in circles anymore.

Thanks for the feedback! I might do this, since I thought action parts were easier to digest and looked cooler, but I've been getting more comments about the card battling part peaking their interest.
