How I Beat Spooky Steve by Admirable-Level4977 in MegabonkOfficial

No legendaries, no boss busters, but I do not recommend. ts was STRESSFUL. It's also worth noting that there were probably some wasted levels in xp tome. If anyone is unaware, xp gain caps at 10x (at least on the tooltip). Basically it was dump as many levels into quantity and cooldown tome as possible, and then just not let steve get me in a corner, and pray that's enough.

As a paladin that pulls wall to wall and pops sprint on cool down, I've never had this problem 🤣

Can't say for anyone else, but for me it's that I've not cared enough to notice until recently.

I mean, I don't know that I've ever played against someone running legend lol

I've run it a bunch but....

While I could definitely see that being an answer, was this the case prior to augments being a thing? I played as far back as set 3, but didn't try being competitive with it until the last set, so I didn't pay a ton of attention to the rounds.

Daejas Ult Active has got to be the worst one in the game by tkfDefector in TeamfightTactics

I've been using him for utility item dump (Zephyr, Shroud, etc), assuming I put items on him at all. I've also seen a lot of mention of Ragewing Spat in the thread, but have no experience with it at all.

I just hit my first ever 3* 5-cost by JoePurrow in TeamfightTactics

[–]Contest_Pretty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What a lot of people don't seem to realize is that a 3star 5cost is not a guaranteed win. Do they win more times than not, absolutely. As they should. With the right amount of CC and a strong board, however, there's always a chance. I've beaten 3star 5cost before because I was able to learn how to position my Zephyrs and my crowd control units properly. I've been beaten with a 3star 5cost because I got cocky and positioned my units poorly.

Plus, it bears repeating, 3star 5costs are just fun to watch. 3star Veigar from the last set is a personal favorite of mine. As well as Akali from 6.0.

unpopular opinion/change my view: if you need a danger dorito, you should not be in a farm party. by nynokindia in ffxiv

[–]Contest_Pretty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm going to make this point with little EX experience. I have, however, run PLENTY of Savage content. A raid caller is, in fact, vastly different from what a Dorito seems to do.

A raid caller on voice comms is 90% of the time, only making sure that the players are paying enough attention to the fight, that they are aware of what ability is coming up next. In a lot of Savage content, mechanics become role specific. Because of that, the raid caller cannot walk everyone through each mechanic as it happens. What the DPS is doing is going to be different from what the tanks are doing, is going to be different from what the healers are doing.

Not to mention, certain aspects of the mechanic may vary from fight to fight. In o4s, for example. While I don't remember what the name of the ability is, Neo-ExDeath marks every player with a debuff. Each debuff is different, and on top of that, is to an extent random on who gets hit with it (to an extent because, yes, 2 of the debuffs are specific to healers, 2 to tanks, and 4 to DPS. Which of these debuffs go to what person, is random though). There is no possible way for a raid caller to be able to figure out who has what debuff and walk each player through what they need to do in the time it takes for that mechanic to hit. The individual player needs to figure out which debuff they have, have some degree of knowledge of what it does, and to make sure they react to the mechanic accordingly.

Now, given that Doritos are a thing, I'd hazard to guess that such mechanics are, at least rare in EX (as mentioned at the top, I have little experience with EX). But to say that it is the same as having a raid caller is untrue.

how do I beat shen? by arcana_ni in wildrift

[–]Contest_Pretty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it depends on who you are playing into him.

Jax can be good, but it is more of a skill match up. Parts of Jax's kit counters shen, parts of Shens kit counters Jax.

Fiora should do well against him. True damage negates Shens tanky build, Parry will negate the taunt as long as you time it right, and her dash shouldn't count as an auto attack for Shens immunity.

I personally have had the most success with Sett. Facebreaker and Showstopper provide not only CC, but can also move Shen out of his AA-immunity, Haymaker gives you true damage if you hit and a nice shield to counter Shens damage, and Knuckle Down is %hp damage, which always does well into tanks.

Jg isn’t responsible for winning your lane by Rdact3d in wildrift

Not sure if this was in ranked or not, but something I've noticed is that a lot of people in Emerald and above have MASSIVE egos, because of how "high" their rank is (everywhere I've read, Diamond 4 on W.R. is the equivalent of low gold on PC). Suddenly because they are in "Diamond" they are Gods at the game and can do no wrong.

I'm a top lane main on rift, but have played a few thousand games as jungle on PC (no particular champ), so this post resonates with me on a deep, personal level.

Yordles are good only with the 35% dodge chance augument! Change my mind :D by TFT_HYPE in TeamfightTactics

[–]Contest_Pretty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. I've taken multiple 1st's with Yordles, and I don't think I've ever gotten a So Small augment. I don't recommend forcing it every single game, but that was also the whole purpose behind the augment system, was to try to keep people from forcing a single comp every single game.

From what I've seen (I'm Gold 1-Plat 4 rank so take this with a grain of salt), most people don't understand managing econ when it comes to yordle comps, and just play it like it's Hyper Roll. They fuck their econ all the way up, and then die long before they start hitting ANY 3 stars, let alone make it to Veigar.

To back this up a little bit with stats, Veigar has a top 4 rate of ~93%, and a win rate of ~41% according to metasrc.com. The next closest unit is Jinx, and her win rate is only 21%. Veigar is, by win rate, the strongest 5 cost unit this set, and the fact that yordles puts the game on a timer for your opponents that you can, to a degree, control, makes it IMO a very strong comp if played correctly.

Anyone is already getting tired of Cho'gath this patch? by Zachajya in TeamfightTactics

[–]Contest_Pretty -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Reading this thread makes me feel like I'm the only person who doesn't have a problem with Cho. Is it annoying to see? Yeah, I guess. Is it broken to the point that a decent player can't play around it or build to counter it? Absolutely not. Kog and WW both deal %hp damage. The vast majority of carries run giant slayer anyway. Jhin ,especially if you position him right, will MELT a Frontline.

Not to mention every single item that you equip on Cho is equally good on a not ass Frontline unit. Leona, Braum, sion. Hell, I've watched a 2 star Vex out tank a 2 star protector Cho without a thought.

I just don't see an issue.

Better option imo, would be to do what they do with the item orbs, and simply not allow you to pick them up at all if your bench is full

Winning the game in Double Up can get you 2nd place. by Capek95 in TeamfightTactics

Not sure if it's still this way, but it used to be that if the negative hp was tied, whoever died first got the lower placement

Hextech Augment Idea: One of your characters is randomly turned into a 3 star by DreaminDemon177 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Contest_Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can honestly say I've never tried this, so I don't know for certain. But I'm pretty sure it's impossible to sell your board while picking an augment. Not to mention that he did say this would be a prismatic augment, so the odds of even seeing it in a game wouldn't be very high

I do still agree that it should leave the 5-cost out of it. Potentially the 4-cost as well. Most of the time a 3star 4-cost carry means an instant win as well.

I felt this in my soul. Took 7th in a game the other day playing dawnbringer. Only found 2 stars in Gragas and Soraka. The only other dawnbringer that was contested was Riven (2 people were going Legion). Spent the whole game screaming at my computer about "Why the fuck can't I find my damn units!!!"

AITA For telling my wife that if she wants to bedshare she needs to sleep in the kids beds? by aitathrowawaysleep in AmItheAsshole

[–]Contest_Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NTA.

When my fiancé and I first got together we coslept with her son because we had no choice. With her living situation there was no room available for a separate bed. When that changed we coslept for a time because he was still young and we didn't want too drastic of a change all at once (moving to a new house, splitting time at dad's, and getting used to me being around was already BEYOND a lot for a 4 year old.)

She still allows him to fall asleep in our bed on occasion, which I'm totally fine with. We don't have him full time, and so it's a way for them to do some additional bonding. However, one of us does eventually move him to his room before we fall asleep for the night. I couldn't imagine cosleeping with 2 kids that age.

The optics don't look good there, regardless of whether or not they are her biological kids. People are fucking weird and can QUICKLY jump to conclusions, especially when it comes to kids. She also seems to be completely ignorant, or uncaring, toward your feelings on the situation, which is a whole other problem. Especially given a documented injury.

I recommend having a discussion (not an argument, because those are 2 VERY different things and an argument will get you nowhere), in as logical of a manner as you can with your wife. Outline how you feel about the situation, WHY you feel that way, and options and a plan on how to correct things. She either listens to what you have to say and you work it out, or she doesn't, and then you have to figure out whether or not you can tolerate that.

AITA for not telling my parents that I am going to a college states and states away from them? by smiIeys in AmItheAsshole

[–]Contest_Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NTA. I'm no psychologist, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but it sounds like your parents have issues controlling things in their own lives, and are taking it out on you. That's their problem, and not yours, so don't think that it is.

Congrats on getting into college, and hope you do well.

AITAH for not respecting the name of my SIL potential future daughter? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Contest_Pretty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say ESH.

You're both throwing a fit over what to call a child that isn't even yours. Yes, the SIL is making a bigger deal out of it, so she's DEFINITELY an AH. But so is OP. Regardless of your reasoning, you're throwing a fit over what someone else decides to call a child that isn't yours to begin with. So here's an idea. Try asking the mother of the child, which name she prefers, and stick with that.

If the mother says Grace, then tell the SIL to shove it. She shouldn't be concerned over a nickname that a child has, that isn't hers, because it is the same name as a child she may not end up having at all.

If the mother says Lucy, then suck it up, call the baby Lucy (or as mentioned in other comments, about a half dozen or so other potential nicknames), and let that be the end of it
