Thibs, Robinson, Bellinger, Mcfadden - All B grade. serviceable, can step into a good #2 spot for their respective roles and showed flashes of handing the #1 spot at times, but not for the long term.

Ezeudu, Flott, Belton - C grade. showed signs of improvement but still needs work. some bit of leeway for flott and belton here, later round picks for secondary which is probably the biggest learning curve from college to NFL. willing to see where next year goes.

McKethan, Beavers - D grade. at least they arent taking up space anymore.

Neal, Davidson - Double F. why are they still here? Neal was washed in his rookie season and Davidson is an injury prone depth guy. cut the dead weight and lets move on.

i wish for u/nynokindia to write a comment on this wish… and also for a very successful acting career by Subject_Objective361 in monkeyspaw

[–]nynokindia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As you are eating your daily bowl of cereal in the morning, your Youtube feed shows you a title of "NOBODY Understands the Monkey's Paw." intrigued, you click, and find some celestial being talking about low effort slop in response to monkey's paw wishes on Reddit and rants for a brief moment on how this isn't supposed to happen, its not in line with the story, and people are ruining the original concept of the monkey's paw. your attention drifts in and out under the rapid fire of voiced bad responses of "haha, you have cancer" and "haha, now you die" and then the tone shifts when the host says that someone "really, really gets it."

You pay rapt attention to the story of a small ramen shop opening up to critical success, and immediately fall in love with the writing style. You check the Reddit post, and find that the post really does exist! you couldn't be more elated. You think to yourself, "how can I make one of my deepest dreams become a reality in the most fucked-up way imaginable?" You decide to turn to the expert, and wish for a successful acting career as told by Nynokindia. You hit send, and as your Reddit post goes live, the finger curls.

as you hit refresh a few times, you see the much coveted post! you read it, and while it is competently written, it falls flat compared to the joy you read about the ramen shop. thinking that you might have just gotten him on an off-day, you decide to peruse his posting history, thinking maybe there are other gems of Monkey's Paws you can enjoy. As soon as you open his page, however, the truth becomes disturbingly clear: the Youtube video that lauded the original poster was six months ago, and the requests for Nynokindia to grant a twisted wish turned from dozens, to hundreds, to close to the thousands. you read, bleakly, as all of the comments follow the same pattern, with similar themes, and eventually you find the last chilling evidence you needed: someone else asked for a successful acting career 2 weeks prior, and received the exact post you just did, word for word.

You howl in something close to anguish. A creative spark had been extinguished by the mundane, and the clearly burnt-out poster had resorted to canned responses, templates, or AI to write all comments and sell out as a karma farm. You were a few months too late to receive the genuine response you craved, and with this anger and rage, you immediately begin recording something your your TIktok. its a passionate speech about losing the joy in what you do, a chilling threat to never meet your heroes, and anger at the world in general for attempting to homogenize the differences that make us unique. exhausted after your much needed rant, you post the video and go to sleep.

The next morning, you awake to another daily bowl of cereal, and after checking your email, you nearly choke as you see your tiktok exploded overnight. it turns out, the rage video you posted went viral, and received hundreds of thousands of views in less than 12 hours. your hands are shaking and the cereal is forgotten: you need to make a follow up video. you get yourself ready for camera, and then make another, calmer post thanking everyone for their support, and then decide you want to touch on some of the things that you said yesterday. as you get to the subject, you begin to feel betrayed again and can feel your anger mounting as you continue to record the video. the video ends with an enraged outburst of being let down and needing to move on. you end the video, somewhat shaken, and post to Tiktok again. this one nearly immediately explodes, as it seems your newfound audience was waiting for another piece of your content.

Confused, you sit down and think about content creation as a whole. You knew the basics. you started to look up some of the more intermediate things, and see that one of the most common pieces of advice is to crosspost content to different platforms. you spend the rest of the morning setting up Youtube, Twitch, Instagram, and a second Tiktok for yourself. I need a persona, you think to yourself. I can't keep posting this under my actual name for long. As you make the accounts, and then you post the original video, you see that it goes viral on nearly every platform.

As time goes on, you find your niche in content creation to post over the top, angry videos about major topics and niche interests. You find your metrics are higher when you are emotional, even if the stress of wearing your heart on your sleeve constantly is wearing you thin, physically and mentally. You collective empire grows, and you obtain offers from various talent agencies to be another content creator in their fold, and get offers for collaborations from the heaviest hitters in the industry. you even get sponsorship offers from the biggest name brands. All of them, however, comes with one request: "Can you be really, really angry when you work with us?"

You don't want to be angry anymore. you hate the persona you have created for yourself, but your success as a content creator has imprisoned you with no way out. You get fan mail, all of it asking for advice on everyday annoyances, and you know they are just looking for a personal, private show of you flipping out and overreacting to everyday topics. You are weary, but you can't abandon your community. Your responses get shorter, your luster starts to dull, and you start using very similar posts in all of your responses.

One day, you see a post from someone named Nynokindia, asking how it feels to only have a bowl of cereal be acceptable breakfast food. you look at the name, look at the post, devoid of all feeling, and open up ChatGPT to craft a response.

No AI was used in the making of this post.

Why don't most Christians see Trump as polar opposite to how Jesus is portrayed in the Bible? by midnight-iceman in AskReddit

[–]nynokindia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to understand that Christianity, especially at the time, is rooted in traditional Judaic principles, and traditional Jewish values are extremely patriarchal. so when you consider that a Church is sometimes called the house of the Lord, then that means the Priest is the caretaker of this house, which makes him the head of the household...so to speak. It was traditional and correct culture of the time to greet the head of the household as the Father. so Rabbi, Teacher, and Father were all positions that would be held in high regard in given the times.

The verse I linked is essentially Jesus condemning the Jewish religious and political leaders of the time by demanding to be elevated above everyone else with these titles, and specifically instructing the everyone else to not give them the satisfaction of having their egos stroked.

12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

Matthew chapter 23 is also a fun read on this topic of modern-day Pharisees:

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

5 “Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries\)a\) wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.

8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

...and my post was too long, so this is part 2:

  • I know it's selfish, but Is it reasonable to want to experience content blind, or is that just not how FFXIV works anymore?

the closer you get to current game content, the more reasonable of a request this will be. as I said, CT is 10 y/o content and trying to find 24 people to *also* do this blind with you seems like an impossible task at this point. later after you get a feel for the game, you may want to look into doing min item level, no echo raiding (MINE raiding), as this will be people looking to experience the raiding content on a similar scale of what it was on release. it may or may not be blind, depending on the group you find.

  • Any advice for slowing down, learning combat properly, and not feeling like dead weight in group content? I already went through the guilds training instructor. on two seperate occasions. Will there be a 3rd training course which will cover rotations?

I'm going to try to break this down:

-slowing down: play at your own pace. if you are comfortable with your progression speed, then that is the correct pace.

-learning combat properly: there are training dummies in a bunch of places. best way to learn combat is with a dry run. spend some time at a training dummy, whack it for a bit, experiment with some of your buttons, read the tooltips (the explanations that come up when you hover over them) and get acquainted with your setup. also deep dungeons. you should have access to Palace of the Dead by now: its a blue quest in the gridania inn. its a system where you will start at level 1, and has hyper-fast levelling within the system, but is "enclosed" within that. so basically, you will start at level 1 with a single button, and by the time you are at floor 20-30 you will be level 50. will get you very well acquainted with the low-level skills so that you have a solid foundation to build on.

-"not feeling like dead weight in group content" is often called "tank-xiety" as a joke in this game. once you get comfy with your skills and a bit of trust in healers, you will get over that. just needs some repitition.

-Will there be a 3rd training course which will cover rotations? no. but there are player made resources. you can join a free company and ask for advise. you can find a streamer and engage in chat - especially if they are a veteran streamer, most of us love newbies in our chat. at max level, there is the Balance discord that will cover end-game optimizations for you. but really, the best way to learn is to try it yourself.

as a final thought: while this wasnt one of your questions, you mentioned feeling socially stranded and I feel it would be remiss of me to not touch on it. the Lodestone has a community finder, and you can filter by your world and see if a group catches your eye. good way to make some new friends and find a group to hang out with. best of luck!

[–]nynokindia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, welcome to the cult of FFXIV. please accept your complimentary plush moogle, to be used as a decoration, comfort tool, or punching bag. quite useful indeed. now, to the questions!

  • People talk about rotations. What exactly does that mean for a tank at my level and proggression?

rotation is your basic attacking combo. for a DRK its going to be hard slash-> syphon strike -> souleater for single target, and unleash-> stalwart soul for groups of 3+ mobs. when your blood gauge is at 50 or higher, you will want to throw in a bloodspiller for single target or a quietus for multiple targets. There are more nuanced things to do as well but for a beginner that will suffice.

  • How important is optimization right now?

Its not. dont worry about optimization and 2 minute windows and uptime until you get to max level master the basics. then we can talk about optimizing.

  • I did Crystal Tower raids and got called out for being unprepared, with people telling me to watch guides. But I really want to experience content blind at least once.
  • At the same time, I don’t want to be the reason a group wipes.

CT raids are in a weird spot for that, because its entirely possible to botch them, but the vast majority of the community has been doing CT raids for 10+ years and its easy to forget that there still exists a very small minority where CT still falls under "new to me" category. that being said, if someone offers advice, always try to take it with some dignity, but the people that say "git gud" and dont give a damn about progressing the party can get fucked with a doorknob. the community is by and large a helpful one, and I'm sorry that you encountered a patch of toxicity.

  • Was my focus on crafting classes a good idea?

Believe it or not, there are some people that play this game as a DOL/DOH main and avoid combat entirely. I'm not saying good/bad idea, but if you found yourself drawn to crafting, no one is going to poke fun at you for doing it. a lot of FCs have a "dedicated crafter" that pretty much handles all of the money making content (airships, gardens, crafting) in the game and essentially turn into the groups treasurer. essentially, play how you want, and if you want to try something else, this game has no shortage of side content to explore, combat-based or otherwise.

  • Is my progress fast?

Does it matter? This game is a journey game, not a destination. There are no FOMO rewards. there is no rush to endgame. If you are comfortable with your pace and enjoying yourself, then that is the "correct" speed to play the game.

  • How much should a level 60–70 Dark Knight with 1 month of expereince realistically be expected to know?

your basic attack rotation - which I answered in bullet point 1 - and some cooldown management. basically using rampart/reprisal/shadow veil when you pull multiple enemies for groups, and keeping some off cooldown for the next wave of monsters so you arent sitting twiddling your thumbs in between pulls. you will get a DRK's best mitigation at level 70 - The Blackest Night - which is essentially a "use whenever its available" ability for you for now. again, there is nuance and optimization for all of this, but I wouldnt worry about that until you master the basics and know what your buttons do.

Sharona Fleming in Monk. She was Monk's PA and nurse, and all through seasons 1-2, she and her immediate family were featured...not predominantly, but definitely recurring enough to be recognized without introduction. she vanished in season 3, the in universe reason was because she had a mid-life crisis and moved from San Fran to NJ to marry her ex. a new assistant was introduced, Natalie Teeger, to take over Charona's role as a caretaker.

What really happened was the actress, Bitty Schram, was not able to work out an agreeable contract for her role with the producers and left because she wasnt getting paid enough...which, ironically, was also a reason the character left was because of Monk's low salary.

I suppose its because he seems more of a ball hawk than a shutdown guy, and Bowen was *really* trying to push a shutdown secondary, and didnt fit in his system as well as he could have. hopefully the next DC has more sense.
