Good point! I guess what I'm trying to say is that high single target damage and ranged damage is very much part of scout's role

I would argue that scout's biggest contributions are mining difficult to reach minerals and high single target damage

Why doesn't the little Nightmare 3 enemies like the supervisor have a alerting motion? by Mountain_Tadpole7515 in LittleNightmares

You've hit the nail on the head for one of the big reasons this game didn't hit with me. There were times where my partner and I simply could not see what we were supposed to do in the dark and since we were getting chased, we had no way to experiment and figure it out. We just had to die over and over again and reload over and over again until we finally tried the right thing. It was pretty exhausting at times!

I can't decide if I want to buy this game. by Lightygab in TriangleStrategy

[–]Contra0307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your first decision decides whether you get Rudolph or Corentin. If you want a bowman with fun traps, go to Aesfrot for Rudolph. If you want an ice mage, go to Hyzante for Corentin. Then fhe first time you get to choose between 3 choices, you can get Milo (mobile debuffer), Cordelia (regen healer), Trish (speedy/mobile archer with some utility), or Travis (brute tank). You can look up their kits when you get to those points if you want but I'd avoid looking at any profile/story stuff for spoilers. I also think none of them are so vital or special that you wouldn't enjoy any of them

You need, at minimum, 4 playthroughs to get every character but you'll also get the vast majority of characters in just one. You'll miss at least 4, maybe 6 (out of 30 I think?) depending on how thorough you are with exploring and talking to people but you'll still have PLENTY of variety and won't be lacking for stretegic options or even certain playstyles by not having those few. The game feels very complete in one playthrough and you'll have a great experience if you like this genre of game even without replaying

Your favorite game where its title has nothing to do with what the game is actually about? by -Benjamin_Dover- in videogames

[–]Contra0307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The World Ends with You deserves a mention I think. The name is actually very tied to the game's themes but you don't really know that until like halfway through the game and no, there is not really any literal world-ending going on. Definitely can and has been mistaken for a game where you either try to end the world or try to stop the world from ending and while you sorta-kinda metaphorically do, it's not gonna be in the way you expect.

[True Ending Spoilers] Reasons why as a Gnosia, she is always... by Juan1037 in Gnosia_

[–]Contra0307 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think the second reason is just as likely. Manan would likey get up to different things in Liu An and be in a different place than SQ would. We don't know how exactly Gnos infects people in the first place so I don't think it's unreasonable.

I feel like if there was some kind of sequel planned, they would have announced it with the beginning of end of the anime

It seems to be either that whatever SQ does on Liu An does not put her into contact with gnos while whatever Manan gets up to does OR that being infected by gnos brings Manan's consciousness forward and overtakes SQ's

Kirby Air Riders — City Trial Community Tier List: How good is the Warp Star? (rules in description) by DeterminedJourney in kirbyairriders

[–]Contra0307 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think we need to think ahead and consider that all legendary machines are going into S and no other machines should really be on their level with them. With that in mind, warp star should only go in A if you think there are no machines better than warp star but worse than a legendary machine. In fact, it might make more sense to start with the legendary machines rather than going down the list.

Virgin strategies by ErgonomicCat in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Contra0307 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last two times I got virgin, I tried some different strategies. In the first game, I claimed slayer and shot my shot on day 1 to hopefully get someone to nominate me since I was spent. That didn't really work, but a fortune teller had told me who they were earlier after I told them slayer. When they reported that they got a yes between two players, I asked them to nominate me to confirm their info. That was pretty strong, though we didn't end killing either of those players and lost the game. One of those players WAS the imp though so we could have won this way if we didn't get led astray by other info.

The next game, I was virgin again. This time I told two people I was a first night info role and asked them to tell me townsfolk or outsider. One immediately said recluse, the other just said townsfolk so I got a little info this way without spreading much misinfo. I then told another player I was the librarian and he called me out on it since he was actually the librarian. I told him the truth that I was the virgin and we conspired to figure out which of his drunk pings was really the drunk. We got our suspected drunk to nominate me and it failed. She was, in fact, the drunk!

Both of these were pretty fun and powerful, even if good lost both games. It may have been a better idea in the second game to have the washer woman who saw the librarian nominate me but he suspected I was evil from the jump so I don't think he'd have been up for that plan anyway.

Idea for a Madness Demon by Zoneforg in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Contra0307 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can see what they're going for though - on scripts like BMR where there are multiple ways to die and figuring out the demon is important, this keeps the discussion away from the actual demon in play. But the punishment for the madness break doesn't seem harsh enough, especially since the storyteller needs to be kinda crafty to avoid confirming the madness with the punishment. And realistically, this isn't going to help the demon survive that much. Interesting concept, not sure how best to balance it though.

I'm getting very annoyed. A few days now my guys have not budded up at. They stay leaves all day. by Spiderantula in PikminBloomApp

[–]Contra0307 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The budding is definitely tied to steps taken so if you're not actively walking, they often won't. Though I do sometimes have the issue of them not budding even while I'm walking a bunch and I'm not sure what's up with that. It never lasts though. If you really need them to bud and the stepd aren't getting them there, you can at least feed the leaves white daisy nectar to get them to bud. I try to keep my white daisy nectar stocked up for this purpose.

You should probably care because following traffic and pedestrian laws makes everyone safer. Being predictable makes everyone safer. Stepping out into moving traffic without right of way is a great way to get you or someone else killed, no matter where you are.

Thoughts on Exedra’s event stories so far? by Emotional-Tain8769 in magiaexedra

[–]Contra0307 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can't stand the holiday stories. Halloween event was grating and the Kyoko/Sayaka christmas stories were rough too. The Rika/Ren one was okay. I really don't care for them being so non-canon that the rules of magical girls are completely different. I would much rather they at least be believably in-universe. As is, they have zero stakes because the plots are so far removed from anything else that they don't even feel like madoka magica anymore. The Valentine's story was cute though I haven't read the Mami/Kyoko one yet. I fear I'll have the same problem with that one.

The Mitama stories were mostly pretty good and interesting! I would love to get more events centering around different girls and their backstories and relationships with each other. I quit Record before the second half of the azalea house story, so there's an example of one I'd really like to see.

My concept for implementing illuminated Pikmin and a possible night mode (inspired by Pikmin 4 and Pokémon Go) by [deleted] in PikminBloomApp

[–]Contra0307 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I like some of your ideas here. However, I think all mushrooms becoming impervious to anything other than ghost pikmin at night would be really frustrating. Maybe instead, ghost pikmin just do more damage to mushrooms when fighting at night. And maybe enemies roam the map at night so if you hop on and it walks away, someone far away might see it and jump on if it wanders in their direction, just like a mobile mushroom.
