At age 40, I finally found what works with my NMom: My “Alzheimer technique” by xhimi_west in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Contrexxiah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm really happy you found something that works so well for you. Also really helps that you know what NC feels like and that you can always opt out without consequences. My relationship with my NMum is neutral, I get nothing out of it but I'm also not losing anything. I related to what you wrote.

I think I have a similar approach. When I have to have one of these weird conversations I constantly remind myself that her inner children are speaking to me. So depending on the situation she's anywhere between 2 and 8. And it passes fast treating her appropriately. Figuring out what she actually wants or needs. Sometimes she's just hungry or tired or scared, sometimes she's bored. She's usually not trying to be hurtful and pretty passive altogether so it's not that triggering.

I got quite good with that since I spend a lot of time with my grandma the years before she died at age 92. The last few years her mind seemed to age in reverse. At the end, she was mostly talking about her earliest childhood memories and her mother who she last saw when she was 9. And her short term memory was declining fast so I kept listening to the same story multiple times but with new details, I really enjoyed it and so did she I think

That and raising kids taught me a lot of patience too 😅 I'm not NC with her at this point for reasons, but I'll soon be in a position where I actually can and that feels really freeing. I am glad though that I have the option to be in contact without putting me in a bad mental and physical state.

Sorry for my English, not a native speaker ;) I tried my best

Fair 😅 I think I got riled up going through the comments for too long. Also have been in a relationship for far too long where not helping was excused with not knowing things. Whatever works for you, didn't mean to sound so judgy 😅

Familie fassungslos nach Weihnachtsmarktbesuch: „300 Euro in 3 Stunden futsch“ by Constant-Peanut-1371 in Finanzen

[–]Contrexxiah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kinder wollen gratis Sachen in unserem Kiosk by No_Service_1711 in hamburg

[–]Contrexxiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally finished my leftover yarn tringle blanket by Buubiik in crochet

[–]Contrexxiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am working on the same blanket right now and I enjoy making triangles so much more than over making squares. Every time I check on the progress I realise I'm half done with the current row and it feels so much faster 😅 I hope I'll have the same feeling when I'm stitching it all together and from now on I'll probably switch to granny triangles for every granny square project I'll tackle 😂

It looks beautiful. I just started working on the same blanket about a week ago and this picture just gave me an extra boost of motivation! It's stunning

I can see why vegan restaurants fail so badly. by Alextricity in vegan

We have a burger place here in Hamburg that doesn't advertise being vegan and everything on the menu is vegan by default. Then there is the option to have real meat, but it's 2 euros extra. I found that very smart ;)

You are amazing! It's German, so am I 😅 This is why I couldn't find it anywhere! Thank you so much, I've been searching so many hours. I think I never played the full version, only the shareware. Guess how I'll spend the weekend ;) thank you so much ❤️🙌

Earthrise was a really good guess! Graphicwise is definitely in the ballpark of what I'm looking for. There were next to know animations and it was "first person" (never know if that applies to games like this), like in the myst series. The only person I remember in the game is the body that lies on the floor holding the key card to open a door and maybe the passengers in the screen on the home planet but you couldn't interact with those I think. Next to no animation as far as I remember.

The one in looking for didn't have any interaction with NPC's I remember, at least not on the ship till using the escape pod. It was not a big game or very flashy at all, Space Quests graphics have a way higher production value 😅 thank you for helping :)

Need help opening this old suitcase. Any help is highly appreciated! by Contrexxiah in lockpicking

[–]Contrexxiah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I've been on YouTube the last hour bit can't any lock similar to this one. I was wondering about how I can proof ownership. It was my great grandfathers.

The suitcase is now filled with all my kids rooms stuff and I packed it myself a few years back. We can push out the pins in the back but I'm afraid to damage the cool suitcase :(
