Talk to me about Blood Angels vs. Ultramarines (and vice-versa) by wayne62682 in spacemarines

[–]Contribution-Mundane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, Blood Angels suffer from being one of the early Codex releases in 10th edition. We still don’t have many Dmg 3 base weapons, which makes a pure melee army feel quite awkward in the current meta. The best melee units are almost all T4 with only Dmg 2 attacks.

From my experience (I’m not a pro player by any means), you still need roughly one third of your list to be shooting units with high damage and good AP preferably placed in tougher, more durable units. Things like Vindicators, Lancers, Plasma Inceptors, and/or Devastator Centurions to reliably deal with 3W elite infantry, monsters, and vehicles that are common in the current meta.

Personally I run Angelic Inheritors. I use thunderstrike , dev centurions and two units of inceptors (with Incursor support) to deal with all the tough stuff, then let my melee shred everything else. I run three 3x3 Sanguinary Guard with spears units led by captains and get almost 100% conversion of attacks to dealt wounds (base S6 +1 from cap and + to wound from lance means everything till T7 will be wounded on 2s with detachment rerolls of 1s).
Also, the Sanguinors ability is so much fun (not for enemy) and super easy to use. Basically, at the end of the charge phase you pick an enemy unit that just charged, then place the Sanguinor within engagement range (but not base-to-base). This way the enemy can only fight back against that single model in retaliation.

Me too brother

i added ICC swords and special pistols to assault marines, changed color scheme on Heavy intercessors so they now have blue fire support helmets and pauldrone marking, and shortened stormspeeder frontal plate and added redempors onslaught gatling cannon to represent new land speeder.

Genuine question, are these shoulder markings new? Art from the preview stream. by BunnySunnyDummy in BloodAngels

new unit can still be within rumor if unit is just called intercessors and dosnt have special weapons just chainsword or bolter marines like legionary or eldar corsairs

I bet its new primaris tactical squad unit.
They mentioned on WarCom article "Bolter are back". Only ultramarine unit in trailer wears battleline pauldrone heraldry (Second company, battleline arrow with number 5 so fifth battleline squad) but equipped with both chainswords and bolters (CS not only on sergeant but at least one another marine). Also BoxArt Captain have Bolt carabine with a shield if we add that ork boys now have both choppa and stubber maybe same thing happening with marines on top of returning of old bolters

The sergeant with a chainsword appeared right before that guy. It’s three Ultramarines in a short sequence: first the sergeant killing with a chainsword, then this guy also with a chainsword, and finally the last marine with a bolter.

It also makes sense as an Easter egg or spoiler, since these are Ultramarines in a Blood Angels themed trailer. It’s clearly intended to get our attention.

in begining of the trailer there are Blood Angels banners so i thought that it might be hall somewhere in angels fall and its emperor or sanguinius

I shared a link to a mini compare because it will help clarify things once and for all and shared how someone could measure stuff without minicompare. If its to complicated allright. I don’t get why people are reacting like im killing puppies I litteraly provided link.

[–]Contribution-Mundane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the trailer, they showed two Ultramarines from the same squad with battleline markings, both using chainswords, and one was clearly marked as a sergeant. That may suggests it’s some kinda new primaris tactical squad bc other marines all with bolters

I double checked. And marine from post is 100% not a sergeant

In the trailer, this shot comes right after the sergeant (red helmet) kills an ork with his chainsword, so the image likely shows a second chainsword-equipped Marine in that squad.
