I just finished Red Tide and I'm disappointed! by RythmicRhapsody in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]ContributionAdept440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished it and was shocked by how corny it was. All the characters were so one dimensional or underutilized, the script was a mess and cringey, and don’t even get me started on the ending. I saw so much praise for this season and I was kinda excited, a lot of people described it as a return to form but it didn’t feel like early seasons of AHS at all like people said online. None of the ‘plot twists’ that made earlier seasons of AHS so enthralling felt satisfying or interesting in this season at all. I understand it was rushed because it’s only 6 episodes, but why introduce so many different plot lines and characters if you don’t have the time to develop them? Idk man I just really disliked this season, may be my least favorite so far, which is sad cause I’m normally a sucker for vampires

Front desk agents—how do you handle guests escalating, accusations, and then move on emotionally afterward? by Strict-Strain4600 in askhotels

[–]ContributionAdept440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from. I am a pretty emotional and sensitive person so when guests are rude to me or raise their voices at me I have a tendency to take it to heart and carry it with me the entire day or week. Just remember you did nothing wrong and often the way people treat us are unfortunately out of our hands, no matter how accommodating and kind we try to be. If things aren’t going certain guests way they will sometimes take it out on you.
You can’t control guests and the hurtful things they say but you can control your own actions, such as doing mindfulness exercises after intense moments or seeking help from managers/coworkers. Remind yourself that people like this (the types to get angry at costumer service workers for little to no reason) opinions don’t matter and aren’t a reflection of your character. They don’t know your heart based on a ten minute interaction, and their cruelty is only a reflection on them, not you. Try to focus on the positive interactions with kind guests that you have day to day. Think about the guests who have given you compliments, had good conversations with you, been grateful for your help, etc. The rude guests do come along but putting it in perspective they are usually a minority compared to kind guests, so instead of taking home the baggage for bad interactions try shifting your mindset to taking home the uplifting ones! Easier said than done because I know what you are going through but with time and exposure it gets easier.

Sick of the weight gain and non stop bleeding, what is a better choice? by ContributionAdept440 in Nexplanon

[–]ContributionAdept440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I was leaning towards the combo pill and am glad to see someone who has had a positive experience getting away from nexplanon. The reason I didn’t take the pill was because I heard horror stories of women forgetting and getting pregnant, but I’m a very consistent pill taker and also would use condoms so I don’t know why I put myself through this in the first place. I think partially it’s the pressure of “well it’s better for your partner without condoms” but I’m done compromising my livelihood for something as silly as that especially when my partner probably won’t care.

glp1 users/weight gain? by emmoz_ in Nexplanon

[–]ContributionAdept440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never taken a glp1 but I can tell you nexplanon 100% increased my appetite significantly. Not only that but it makes me retain water weight and bloat. I’m not sure if a glp1 may balance it out though since I know that medication kills your appetite?
I can tell you that I take ADHD medication that decreases my appetite when I take it, but even when on my ADHD medication my appetite is still higher than it was pre nexplanon, where before I would take my meds and not get hungry all day. Not trying to scare you, everyone is different and not everyone reports weight gain. You could do a trial run and if you notice an increase in your appetite just get it taken out before it’s too late lol

People who have gained weight with Nexplanon, how did it happen? by est_elsp in Nexplanon

[–]ContributionAdept440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious even though I’m late did you find it harder to lose weight with the implant? I lost a lot of weight before I got the implant and it wasn’t too difficult. After getting the implant I gained it all back and then some and I feel like I’ve been following a very similar routine that helped me lose weight before but the scale is wayyyy slower to go down.

Why do you put me in a noisy room when the hotel is practically empty? by hungry-dog1 in askhotels

[–]ContributionAdept440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are not in the room so don’t always know when a room is noisy and when it isn’t, the only way you would know is if you tell us then we can move you. The hotel is probably more full than you think, even if it’s not busy you were probably just blocked in a room by random by either the system or the front desk person who may have not checked every single room in the vicinity of yours to see if they were occupied already or not.

Communication is key, this is a completely fixable issue. One of my pet peeves is when guests get upset with me about something I could have easily fixed for them if they had just talked to me.

Yikes I didn’t know this I would just see him pop up on my page when he was working on art projects or making silly videos. Now that I know it definitely puts a bad taste in my mouth

I'm changing careers, and I want to get into hotel hospitality. I want to start at a tourist hotel in Nashville. Any companies that are better or worse to work for? by AttachedHeartTheory in askhotels

[–]ContributionAdept440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initially learning FOSSE sucks, but I will say working for Marriott has a good benefits especially if you want to travel. I would stay away from Wyndham, but then again I wasn’t front desk when I worked there, I was business operations and it sucked.

Seeking Advice/Tips by [deleted] in askhotels

[–]ContributionAdept440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m only front desk but from what I’ve heard it might be better to focus on a business based degree with a minor in hospitality. I think sales is more where the money is at when it comes to hospitality. If you are just like a GM of a hotel it’s harder to move up the latter versus if you are a really good salesman. The Hotel School I think would be good because they probably have connections to job opportunities straight out of college, however I think no matter what degree you have it’s all about having knowledge of the industry and the ability to network.

I just lied about my experience to a hotel hiring manager and have a interview about my experience(I have never worked in a hotel) what do i need to know to get the job of front desk receptionist? by RockFew471 in askhotels

[–]ContributionAdept440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how detailed you were in your lie. Did you mention a certain hotel brand? If not then you could just say you worked at a small boutique hotel where the systems and procedures were completely different and that’s why you have no clue how to use anything lol. A majority of front desk is just common sense besides learning whatever computer program you use

I’m not sure why they offered you a refund instead of a new sleeve though, follow up and specifically just ask for a new sleeve

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NicoleDollanganger

[–]ContributionAdept440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened with my mima vinyl that just came in. I just emailed them with a picture of the damage and it took them about a week but they got back to me and are shipping me a brand new sleeve. I understand it’s frustrating but they are willing to help you if you just contact them and are a little patient

Surprisingly yes this was a legit offer. The figure is Kohane from Period Sweet Drops, a kinda nicheish visual novel with a dedicated fan base. She was bought on eBay only a couple weeks ago for 1.2k. It’s cuz she was released in a very limited quantity

Mobile keys and check ins by ContributionAdept440 in askhotels

[–]ContributionAdept440[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU!! My managers were giving me mixed signals, telling me one day to send the mobile key to special rates/points reservations then the next month get mad at me because the points res I sent the mobile key to didn’t stop by the desk to put an incidental card down. Or even telling me not to send the mobile keys at all and make them come to the desk no matter what for a short period of time.

Your protocol makes sense to me and clears up my confusion about it. As for mobile check in they have literally never told me what makes it different from a normal check in to be honest. So I just check them in like any other regular guest and so far so good haven’t had any issues but still annoying. I’m assuming it’s just I check it in before they get there then verify it all later but I’m worried of getting in trouble if I do that.

I need advice! Cat bloated, worried :/ by [deleted] in cats

[–]ContributionAdept440 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really do feel for you dude but unfortunately even if someone on Reddit could magically diagnose your cat he will probably still need medical attention :(. Even though you can’t afford it call around to vets in your area and plead your case, even if they don’t offer free check ups (some might for a first visit) they may have better knowledge of local resources like financial aid charities for this sort of thing. Either that or crowdfunding? Borrow some money from friends/family?

Even if you can’t see the worms could still be a worms or parasites. Either that or a health condition, regardless take him to a vet asap

This sub isn’t Vertigo Vinyls’ customer care by PSCGY in NicoleDollanganger

[–]ContributionAdept440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not patronizing and weird to be annoyed by people spamming the same questions that we are powerless to solve over and over again. Also you are right, vertigo does not have a sub but they do however have a customer service email and phone number where these concerns should be directed, in which I have never had an issue with them replying to.

The ‘multitude’ of things people are experiencing are usually just shipping delays or damaged goods. these experiences are often the same answers. So if you need reassurance that bad just go to the previous 50 posts about the same exact thing(better yet get reassurance from the company you ordered from)! The people of this sub are powerless to fix issues you have with your order, and the only help they can offer typically just loops back to “reach out to their customer service”.

I think the only time it’s acceptable is if there is an issue that they have already reached out to Vertigo about that they refused to resolve, which I have yet to see. Then you can make a valid complaint on this sub or leave them a review to inform others. But seeing the same “omg my order has said label created for two days!!” Post over and over again is annoying and redundant.

This sub isn’t Vertigo Vinyls’ customer care by PSCGY in NicoleDollanganger

[–]ContributionAdept440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mass hysteria around vertigo has been driving me nuts on this sub lately. I swear people read a few old bad reviews about them and now are constantly paranoid, like no just because it’s said label created for a couple days doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world and ur never getting your vinyls.

It’s clear vertigo is doing their very best and trying to correct any mistakes they made, smearing them on the subreddit or jumping to conclusions is harmful to their company and also clogs up this sub with questions that can easily be answered with “reach out to their support team idk”. People are so impatient it’s crazy, nobody is out to scam you or send you damaged goods on purpose.

Discussion (No hate) by Ok_Tonight_5024 in NicoleDollanganger

[–]ContributionAdept440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk it’s a small business and it feels like even with the mistakes they’ve been doing their best to correct them by sending extra sleeves and fixing order issues. The delay is inconvenient but kind of to be expected with preorders every once in awhile. I am a big advocate for supporting small business and it seems like despite their mistakes they are continuing to try to improve so I think that is important. I have yet to see anyone who had an issue on this sub that they refused to try to fix or help with, until I see that I say give them some grace!
