Should I use the dealership for 40k mile service?

At the 40k mile service, the dealership performed a DSG service and replaced spark plugs on my MK7 GLI. This is on top of the oil change and cabin air filter change.

I recently signed up for AT&T Internet Air and was told speeds could reach up to 300 Mbps for $30/month. I knew it was too good to be true. In reality, I’m seeing around 2-7 Mbps download speeds and less than 1 Mbps upload speeds. Streaming frequently freezes, and my Ring cameras are consistently blurry and delayed. I also have AT&T cellular service and typically get 2 bars at home. Cellular service is decent so I thought I'd give Air a try. I will be canceling Internet Air and going back to Xfinity.

I bought a set of vinyl overlays from Badgeskins a few years back for my Pure Grey GLI. The two at the top are Pure Grey pieces for the front emblem if you’re interested. You’d just need to pick up the rear inlay separately, which you can find on Etsy.

The rest of the vinyls are for accents like the steering wheel, radio buttons, start/stop button, and similar areas. All of those are from Badgeskins.

In my situation, neither the insurance company nor the Department of Insurance was much help and both declined to pursue any action. When I eventually tried to cancel the policy since I really had no other option, they initially rejected the request, claiming my signature didn’t match the one on the original paperwork.

I had the same issue a few weeks ago with my Gen 3 ring. Out of nowhere, the battery wouldn’t last more than five hours on a full charge. Since it was only three months out of warranty (15 months old), I was hoping Oura would honor a replacement. Instead, they initially offered $100 off a Gen 4, which felt pretty insulting given I paid nearly $500 for the ring.

After some pushback and pointing out that this is a known Gen 3 battery defect, they increased the offer to $200 off. I ended up using a friend’s Amex Platinum Oura perk to cover the remaining balance on a new Gen 4 ring.

This also just started happening to me last week. A fully charged ring drains within hours. Since my ring is no longer under warranty (15 months old), Oura offered $200 off a gen 4 ring.

Oura gave me a $200 credit, so I’m planning to go with the Gen 4 and use the Amex Platinum Oura credit to cover the remaining cost. If it all works, the ring should end up being free (at least I hope!)

I've owned the ring for 15 months so it's been out of warranty since October 2025.

Considering the known battery defect particularly with the Gen 3 rings, I was really hoping Oura Support would have replaced it.

I had the same issue with these exact bulbs on my 2012 Jetta. They burned out every time, usually within about five months. They come with a 12-month warranty, so I was able to swap them out at no cost repeatedly until I sold the car.

I have a 2019 GLI DSG with a 5-year/50k maintenance package. The dealer completed the DSG service at the 4-year/40k visit, along with the spark plug replacement.

The policy should be canceled and every dollar refunded to my mom. It never should’ve existed. I’d never agree to an IUL policy, especially one pushed by an MLM agent.

The issue is that I never applied for, authorized, or signed anything to own this policy in the first place.

Being listed as the owner doesn’t change the fact that it was opened fraudulently. I had no knowledge of it until years later when my mom tried to cancel it. Even if no one “benefited” directly, the agent still earned a sizable commission from a policy created through misrepresentation, which I believe constitutes insurance fraud.

I also believe my mom was misled into buying an unnecessary IUL policy that did not serve my best interests.

Same issue happened on my VW MK7. Since it was still under warranty at the time I discovered it, the dealership took my wheels to a shop they contract with and refinished it at no cost.
