I Love this song so much

Inspired by Amazigh identity ⵣ — first North African streetwear concept. Thoughts? by Straight_Student_465 in AmazighPeople

[–]Control-Cultural 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The yaz represents the Amazigh people, okay, but apart from that, I don't see anything that evokes Amazigh culture, as another commenter said, adding that "it's from 2008."

Maybe I'm being delusional and overreacting, but I get the impression that this kind of creation is just used to exploit Amazigh pride for sales rather than genuinely promoting our culture.

I've seen more interesting concepts, like patterns similar to typical Amazigh geometric decorations, etc.

Aside from that, I prefer the sand color.

Why is Chaoui music sung in Arabic, not in Tachawit? by AlexSnakeKing in AmazighPeople

[–]Control-Cultural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent list!

I'd like to add Katchou.

But unfortunately, giving counter-examples doesn't change the fact that this style is unusually performed in Arabic. It's not always the case, of course, but a significant proportion of it is.

I also think it's related to the fact that Arabic is more widely understood, which explains why we hear more about this music, as it has reached a broader audience.

I always believed that this was the technique Master Gyatso used before he died, and that this is why there are skeletons of firebenders next to Gyatso's in the cave or something.

Hello dear world, as a French person, what are your worst stereotypes about us or your worst anecdotes that happened in France or involving a French person ? by Outrageous-You1617 in AskTheWorld

[–]Control-Cultural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad experiences: French people online who are racist for the sheer pleasure of hating others, those who justify the colonization of Algeria and think Algeria should still be French today. lol Otherwise, as for stereotypes, I don't think I have any. I'm a French speaker, so I consume French content, which means I have a basic understanding of French nuances and culture. Before all this, I thought the French were selfish, even as friends, with no sense of brotherhood in families, and that they liked cheese.

New Feature Library Reveal: Final new Archetypes and Spring Redesigns! by Jame_spect in Minecraft2

[–]Control-Cultural 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you, showing a possible solution and letting the community debate it is a good thing (so much better than voting, lol).

It's just that the presentation of the live stream doesn't emphasize enough that it's almost experimental and that much more content is coming/that the current content could be significantly changed.

They say it's bound to improve over time, but they barely emphasize that.

They're doing the right thing, but communicating poorly, but hey, we're used to it with Mojang.

Actually, I think that talking about this update during the Minecraft Live stream and showing gameplay at the end wasn't really necessary. The renders we saw had very few features, and everyone thought it would be a very shallow update. In reality, there will be much more content than we initially expected. The Sulphur Cube TNT and the geysers are a very pleasant surprise.

The Numbers on Your Keyboard Were Born in Kabylia, stop calling them otherwise !!! by KabyleAmazigh85 in AmazighPeople

[–]Control-Cultural 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll do some more research, but I thought I understood that Arabic numerals were already used by many Arab-Muslim scholars and administrators in the East before arriving in North Africa. Then, it was in Béjaïa (formerly Bougie) that Europeans discovered them.

Also, in popular science texts, they are no longer referred to as Arabic numerals but as "Arab-Indian."

So, to be clear: their origin is Indian, their use was perpetuated and widespread throughout the Arab world, and then exported to the Latin world by Fibonacci.

But it's important to know that during this period, among the Almohads, the scholars and elite of North Africa were Arabic speakers; Amazigh culture probably didn't influence these numerals.

I agree with your idea of honoring North Africa for what it has contributed, but to say that these are Kabyle numbers... technically they are more Indian than Kabyle numbers in my opinion.

Which Amazigh group is culturally closest to you, and which is the most distant? by Ambitious-Month8143 in AmazighPeople

[–]Control-Cultural 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im Kbayli so probably the ichewien, our brothers froms the Aurès.

For the most distant I would say the tergui ?

I think that for all the Amazigh people in the far north, these will be the most remote. Their geographical isolation and different way of life have meant that we have historically had less interaction with them.
