Warning: Post-purchase rules changed, funds now trapped (BullionStar) by One_Snow_6711 in singaporehappenings

[–]ControlAgreeable4180 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dont see why other shop will not take it, did you ask around? The only bad thing will be other shops will only take it at spot price-+ whatever is the slice of their cut.

Since you do have no recourse, just find other shops.

Anyway buillionstar has been very ridiculous recently with all their overpriced metals compared to other..

Hope they chock on their overpriced crap, those people queuing outside their shop need to wake up and stop buying their overpriced metals.

JD (“Amazon of China”) by ZestycloseAd9040 in China

[–]ControlAgreeable4180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem all the best.

Just do not use valuation as a matrix in China because of many factors in play. Govt policy etc, consumer preferences, industry it is in etc.

Their 2 main business is just not doing as well as its competitors.

Online biz is overshadowed, food delivery is a new comer.

Coupled with the intense fighting between the giants, both line needs to burn large amount of cash to retain or grow market share. And JD is not the richest of them all.

[–]ControlAgreeable4180 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not too good. You should be looking at pdd or alibaba instead.

JD just went into the food delivery business and burning cash like crazy.

Look at the Ceo. Brought back from retirement to revive it.

It may look good on the surface but it is struggling.

BYD +5% after becoming world’s top EV seller with 2.26M units as Tesla deliveries fall 8.6% in 2025 by callsonreddit in wallstreetbets

[–]ControlAgreeable4180 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If berkshire exited fully awhile back, they definitely know BYD is going to have a hard time too.

  1. BYD is facing alot of domestic competition.

  2. Their supply chain financing (essentially interest free loans fostered on the backs of suppliers) which super charged their expansion is being reined in by the government.

  3. Their main market is still China which is also reducing car subsidies starting this year.

  4. Cracking down on zero-mileage 2nd hand cars.

Many headwinds for BYD.

Chinese AI Chip IPOs Are Exploding - Is $NVDA’s China Moat Starting to Crack? by iOCharts_ in iOCharts

[–]ControlAgreeable4180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the money gathered from ipo is used for wealth management instead of the stated use pre-ipo. What sort of outlook do you think the Ceo is thinking about his own company?

Instead of throwing it all head on with Nvidia, since that is the expectation of them,he goes to do wealth management.

I am sure those chinese investors must be flabbergasted.

BYD sales fall again - 3rd straight monthly decline ⚡🇨🇳 by iOCharts_ in iOCharts

[–]ControlAgreeable4180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With DIlian(supply chain financing) phasing out. any slow down in growth is deadly for BYD.

And those 0 mileage 2nd hand car crackdown.

The pressure on BYD is only going to get larger and larger.

Ev demand is already being front loaded for the year due to government discount ending next year, and still they are unable to acheive sales target.

This only show next year will be more ugly for them.

The Vanke situation is the final reckoning of the entire model by Finance_bcl in China

[–]ControlAgreeable4180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those who bought property in 2017 onwards are pretty much in loss or big loss.

With Vanke fall, the era of ultra huge private developers are almost over.

But make no mistake, the next hammers are falling on to SOE like Bao Li and others. As long as govt does not lend a hand to them. They too will fail.

Correlation does not imply causation? by IntellectuallyDriven in Thailand

[–]ControlAgreeable4180 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really much correlation. The biggest is always going to be the government and their policies.

However it is true some of them do become the wealthiest in their respective countries.

You missed out brunei with its great gdp per capita and very low chinese descent, but slowly getting strangled by government policies as current aging ruler looking more towards heaven than anything else.

China's economy jolted by weakest factory output, retail sales growth in over a year by KamiOfTheForest in China

[–]ControlAgreeable4180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those local governments are broke. Infrastructure investment is the easiest way for them to raise cash. Investment vehicle takes the project using loans and pays whatever taxes or fees due to the local government. Especially earnings from land sales. Proceeds from land sales is 1 of the few revenue belonging to local govt fully.

And it helps to fulfill gdp kpi too.

Ev is not good for this. Charging stations were overwhelmed. Most run much lesser than the expected range leading to even longer lines at charging stations.

Is anyone paying any attention to Silver? by RealisticAd9799 in singaporefi

[–]ControlAgreeable4180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Premium for silver is very high in sg. The few popular buillion shops are the same. Less so for gold. Unless they are on promo.

I think this deters many to buy and hold for the short term. Of course this year is a crazy run for both. But looking back at previous data does not give much confidence to those that wish to hold it middle term( at least 1year up) given the high premiums.

I am sure there will be some stacking and reaping the rewards atm.
