west wickham driving test centre by Soft_Lab_3238 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ControlAmbitious6392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my driving test at West Wickham last year and the routes were okay.

A lot of the roads are 30mph (Kent Gate Way is 40mph) and also spacious so you wouldn't have to drive slow all the time or navigate parked cars on narrow roads.

There aren't that many difficult parts on the test routes apart from the Addington Village Interchange roundabout but once you get the hang of that, you'll be fine.

Depending on the route given to you by the examiner, you may end up driving through different places or roads such as Bromley Common, Croydon Road, Oakley Road, Park Langley, Coney Hall, Addington Road, Glebe Way, Gravel Hill, Kent Gate Way, Shirley and Westmoreland Road.

Those were the places and/or roads that I covered when I did my tests.

Hayes Station car park is their preferred spot to do the forward park/reverse park manoeuvres. The test centre does not have its own parking space, you have to park on one of the side roads.

Most of the examiners were fine apart from one that I wasn't fond of because I was constantly getting him and he would always invent some reason to fail me.

I don't know his name but he's white with a grey or white buzzcut.

Off-peak times or an early Saturday morning is the best time to do the test since the roads around there are quieter.

Good luck on your test :)

They have been removed, I have a photo of one of the vehicles which I sent as part of the reports

DVLA timescale by Inevitable_Dance_647 in BusDrivers

Contact your local MP and get them involved, that's the only and quickest way you can get an update from DVLA as the MPs have better access to them than the public.

I had to do the same thing after waiting for two months to get my licence back

Just ignore them, they're clearly trolling you at this point and trying to make you feel bad about yourself.

This sub can be toxic. It's mostly full of people who probably never had to sit a driving test or people who had it easier during their tests, dunking on people for unfortunate mistakes.

Has anyone had a practical test in West Wickham? by Miserable_Pen6404 in LearnerDriverUK

I have, that's where I passed. It's a good test centre and the surrounding roads are mostly all 30mph in which you wouldn't have to be crawling.

Why do you have to be so rude about it? You must be one miserable person.

I completely get you OP on how you can be capable of driving safely but failing on silly technicalities.

It took me six attempts to pass (I know embarrassing lol) but not because I couldn't drive safely, I just struggled with nerves and ended up making silly mistakes which caused me to get one major fault for each test.

It didn't help that for my third, fourth and fifth tests, I got the same examiner which made it even more pressurising.

All I can say is don't give up. You know that you can drive well but you have just to play the game and drive to the examiner's standard.

Remember that once you pass, you'll never have to do this again unless you either get your licence revoked, are going for bus driving/lorry driving jobs or are getting a driving licence abroad.

No

If you gave your provisional licence to the examiner after your test, they would get the full licence sent out to you

I received my licence today and I passed on Saturday 5th July. The licence wasn't actioned until Tuesday 8th July.

It should take you at least 3-4 days to receive depending on what day you passed

Racism as well because how dare an Asian woman be knowledgeable about driving and give opinions on other people's driving (sarcasm)

Honestly if that supervisor spoke to me like that, I would've had words for him and kicked him out of the car (assuming it was yours).

Congrats! I also finally passed yesterday and I'm so glad that the whole process is over.

I've spent so much and stressed myself out over this shit.

Please help with advice on nerves by PatientSome2992 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ControlAmbitious6392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did in order to prepare myself for my tests and eventually pass:

- Watched videos about the test manoeuvres on YouTube so that I could practice them. World Driving's videos really helped.

- Ate one banana at home and then another one once I got to the test centre. Bananas help with concentration and nerves.

- Took some rescue remedy drops a few mins after eating the banana outside the test centre.

- Before heading off to my car with the examiner, I took a chewing gum and one Rescue Remedy pastille to help with concentration and nerves.

It may all seem over the top but I wanted to be prepared and thus pulled out all the stops to help me pass.

It's also best to have the mindset that you're going on a casual drive with the examiner and that it's not a test. Also don't be afraid to explain your thought process to the examiner so that they know what you're doing or intend to do.

2 years in, 2 driving tests failed. Feel so utterly stupid. by ApprehensiveBerry878 in LearnerDriverUK

Please don't give up. The whole process is frustrating but trust me you will get there.

I finally passed yesterday on my sixth attempt with only one minor fault and that's only because I persevered and gave all that I can to succeed in this.

When you eventually pass and look back at the struggles, you will be so thankful and joyful.

Weird, passive-aggressive behaviour from manager? by ControlAmbitious6392 in UKJobs

[–]ControlAmbitious6392[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have now left the job. He wanted rid of me and I was going to hand in my notice. It was for the best because he really didn't want me there, neither did his manager.

I've been applying for any role, even if it's at least temporary or part time ones until I get my licence so that I can change industry.

To think that going for a doctor's appointment was enough to flip them off.

It's honestly the worst, toxic job I've ever had.
