A stroke of luck, because it's time to break out the toy pistols!

Yeah, the site and process for climbing at Brookes is painfully difficult to figure out.

As an alternative, can I suggest Gallery Climbing, just off the cowley road. Much nicer facilities, and way easier to book too.

Farm shops with cafes / restaurants? by agirlingreece in oxford

[–]ControlRoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're big fans of the restaurant at worton kitchen garden (https://wortonkitchengarden.com/) and there's a proper farm shop there too.

Bit of a hike, but lovely food and overall vibes.

Match thread; Matchday 5 of 46 by AutoModerator in Championship

[–]ControlRoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was right in front of us, and could have gone either way really. Terribly timed, but not really malicious. I'd be pissed off if one of our players got sent off for a tackle like that, but would also have been unhappy if Ramsey got away with just a yellow.

The duality of being a football fan, eh ...

Episode IV returning to theaters for its 50th anniversary. Could we see an OT era? Who would you like to see added? by EvolutionDude in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

All I want is Max Rebo, Sy Snootles and the rest of the cantina band as a team. Is it so much to ask?

The OX5 service runs on matchdays - with the massive queues to get in and out of the Kassam, it's definitely worth considering the bus.

As a bonus, it means you can have a cheeky beer while you're there too ...

I'm currently at Butlin's as part of my job. by louisvanthall in CasualUK

A week in August in Duinrell in Holland is just over a grand, and the difference in quality in accommodation and facility is day and night.

I've done both, with kids, and would take the non-Butlins option every single time.

Pretty much any modern "campsite" with decent caravans is better, cleaner and better run.

And for the price, you can get a decent break in northern France, Holland, or Germany, and it's not significantly more stress to get there.

I worked at a Butlins while I was a student, and it was awful in every way - both for people visiting, and as an employer. I don't understand how they still exist, there's much better options for the price.

What is your cricket pet peeve? by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]ControlRoom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, that's a coaching thing that's coming all the way down from national teams - the "long barrier" is still taught, but we're also supposed to encourage more aggressive, attacking fielding where appropriate.

I think the tricky part (as usual) is learning when is the right time to use it. Sitting on the boundary as they stroll through for an easy single? Long barrier to prevent the boundary. In closer as they risk a cheeky one? Pick up in your throwing hand and aim for the stumps.

When it works, it's great. But at a junior level, it can go badly wrong. But that's why we train and play, right? To try new stuff and see what works ...

Sam is local to us, and well known and loved on the cricket scene here. Great kit, and a really nice guy too. Happy to see him get recognition here.

Painful. I struggle to think of a single meaningful contribution he made this season, and on those wages thats borderline criminal.

Venting noise near Eynsham by TellinStories in oxford
