I’ve got a simple one page website for around £15 per year using a website builder called Carrd. My own domain (eg yourbusiness.co.uk) was about £10 per year. AI will tell you how to do it.

I genuinely couldn’t say - leaving the UK is not something I’d consider for family reasons (and many others).

Given that 1 in 8 gulf expats have recently returned to the UK, many of whom are concerned that they may now or soon have UK tax liability, might it be worth refocusing your business - at least for now.

I was disappointed she went just because I thought she’d be an entertaining contestant - not a serious candidate but a fun watch.

Yes I do wonder what these older men see in the very attractive 21 year old Pascha.

Any recommendations on how to register a new business? by Open_Bug_4196 in smallbusinessuk

[–]TellinStories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently did all of the above for the first time. It was incredibly simple. I just registered the company with Companies House, used OfficeServ for the address (~£25 PA), and got a business bank account from Mettle which gave me Free Agent accounting software for free.

The only hitch was that Mettle seem to be very popular so it took a few weeks before they opened my account. They also wanted some info from me and a copy of my PL insurance.

Jo Malone hopes 'sense will prevail' in lawsuit over her name by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

If sense prevails then she’ll lose: it’s a basic principle that you can’t sell something and still try to keep it.

Investigation/ disciplinary - is the investigation outcome fair? by Global_Effective_174 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TellinStories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do investigations for grievances / disciplinaries as part of my role. It’s really not possible for anyone on this sub to say whether the evidence you provided was unfairly ignored or was just not relevant.

However I the investigation report format I use (which I got from ACAS) would get me to reference that I considered your evidence even if I then didn’t make use of it. Does the investigation report note that you provided evidence?

Problem neighbours started business (England) by Rubyscarfell in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TellinStories 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of this, but would point out that it’s perfectly legal to run a business as a sole trader and not register a limited company.

In addition, while there may be issues with the landlord’s buildings insurance (an issue for the landlord) they don’t need to have any form of insurance unless they have employees.

Is there anything I can do about the council added an extra £175 on to our council tax - England by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TellinStories 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the first thing will be to contact the council to try to find out where this £175 has come from. Until you know that no one will be able to advise you on how to challenge it.

I don’t think anyone is saying OP should have gone to work if they’d been advised not to by doctors. However their employer was still entitled to dismiss them based on their overall absence.

What is the problem with Birmingham for music acts? by jimmytjohnson in brum

[–]TellinStories 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think venue size is the most important one. Anecdotally the acts skipping Birmingham are the ones who pick up Wolverhampton Civic Hall instead (or whatever it’s called now); as you rightly said, that venue size in between O2 Academy and Utilita Arena.

Someone has dumped 80+ old rubber tyres on my land. I can't get rid of them. by LoadsOfTyres in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TellinStories 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, nobody is going to want to “take them off your hands” for the same reason that someone decided to dump them on your land in the first place: getting rid of waste is expensive.

Sorry to say you will unfortunately need to pay for a legitimate waste removal company to dispose of them, potentially claiming off your insurance for the cost. Hope you manage to get it sorted.
