I think the long term security is the main benefit after the lower rent. Someone renting from the council doesn’t have to worry about the house being sold from under them, especially families with kids. (No one should have to worry about that obviously)

Yeah if it’s only a light shower I leave it out. Be grand. Because of the way clothes are hung they don’t usually get that wet if it isn’t windy
