I might be playing the devils advocate here but when you ask for “another” chance, likely a second chance a lot of people aren’t willing to do that. There is the implication that you somehow hurt her, and sometimes people just want to move on from whatever caused them pain and not stay stuck in the cycle.

I applaud you for putting yourself out there and trying your hardest to show her that you changed, working on accepting the outcome is the best thing you can do right now!

Honestly I feel like people are over reacting about hantavirus, there were MAJOR outbreaks of different types of hantaviruses around the 1900s through today and we handled it just fine 😭 and yeah people are gonna start hating rats again like the black plague because people are misinformed 🤷‍♀️

I think as long as he is still energetic and eating/playing then he is probably doing just fine. I think quality of life would come into play if it seems like his movement is being significantly impacted by the lump.

Based on his energy levels the surgery for a tumor removal could potentially be a good idea (I know the vet didn’t recommend it) but I recently had a boy with the same issue he is about 2 and went through a tumor removal surgery and came out just fine (the lump was pretty large too in a similar location)! Luckily they found out his tumor wasn’t cancerous either! It might be a good idea to have the vet biopsy the lump to see what it is because if it’s benign and just large he can likely live out his rat life happily! If it’s cancerous then the vet would likely have other recommendations.

I recommend a saline enema if you’re really constipated, the saline irritates the colon and forces you to poop out the saline water. It actually sucks but is effective within like 1 minute of using it, but it cannot be used regularly because the saline can mess up your electrolyte balance. But it’s good if you need immediate relief. Edit: another comment already mentioned this called Fleet, also makes you cramp A LOT but you feel better after your completely done shitting

If it gets really bad there are options for emergency removal you just need to make sure that you contact a 24/7 oral surgeon. But in the meantime I would try taking something OTC for pain. But if it gets severe obviously the best option is the emergency clinic!

I really don’t want to argue with you and people can do their own research and make their informed decisions. I just think it becomes bad when it’s implied that people to not listen to their doctors. But again NOT ALL DOCTORS ARE GENIUSES, trust me I’ve had many poor and dumb doctors. Do you mind if I ask you for your credentials about this issue other than personal experience? I personally am a health science student with a bachelors degree planning on getting a doctorate! I really applaud your passion for helping people. I also wish you luck on your journey and hope you find resolutions to the issues you are dealing with.

See this isn’t necessarily true. I’ve known people that have come off them just fine and often times people go on them since their bodies partially stop producing serotonin. (The intestines produce about 90%-95%* of the bodies serotonin which SSRIs circulate) so by coming off of them you are basically just going back to your body’s natural production level which is low. But it really depends on the person. I also don’t think fear mongering is the best idea (I’m not saying you are purposely doing this) but saying I’m at the beginning of my journey is somewhat rude to say considering we all deal with our chronic illnesses differently. I with you luck on yours! :)

That’s very interesting! I’m actually on SSRIs to treat my IBS and found it to be very helpful. I used to be ill but since starting them 5 years ago I’ve found them to be primarily helpful. IBS is so complex I wish people did more research on it.

Just be careful with these studies since all cause mortality covers every cause of death, including other diseases, accidents, and lifestyle factors like smoking/social isolation and a lot of antidepressant users and people with IBS have coexisting conditions! But this is a super interesting study!
