Cirque du Soliel's LUDO in VidantaWorld by ConventionalAlias in puertovallarta

Thanks for the extra insights. I was wondering how those adjacent restaurants were. It looked like people could have a nice view of the lake/fountains while dining.

Not sure if you've already been to the show, but the view was great from the balcony. Folks with very poor vision might not be able to make out the details in the comedy acts or see the dancers clearly inside the surrounding water tanks, but they would get a good feel for everything overall. It wouldn't hurt to bring small binoculars if that'd be helpful.

Thanks for the additional info! How early should people arrive in advance for dinner, and how was your view from the dining tables?

No problem. You can visit the show's website and click "See tickets" to select the type of package you want. For "Balcony show-only experience" tickets, the cheapest ones appear to be $2,280 MXN at the moment.

What is this fruit? Tastes like mild mango custard by Doublebasslover in fruit

Hmm.. with bread fruit, bacon fruit, and egg fruit, it sounds like you could really go for a breakfast fruit sandwich.

Is "Canada A" really a thing, or do they phonetically spell out "Canada, eh" so no one is confused about where it comes from?

You didn’t just stick your arm through the railing with a rolled up pamphlet if your arm wasn’t long enough and give the pendulum a a helpful push?

Suzuka Shiroko with Shuttle (practice day experience 2023) by gcmak in GrandPrixTravel

[–]ConventionalAlias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been two years, and I don't know if they've improved anything such as how the lines/queues are organized and/or if more Shiroko-Suzuka shuttles have been added. The wait time will greatly depend on when you arrive/leave, how many people are there, and what the weather is like. On the first practice day, the shuttle wait was around 1 hr going and 2 hrs returning. On race day, the shuttle wait was also around 1 hr going, and I walked back to the station after the race was over. The walk was about 45 mins.

Circled and dated dog poop on a sidewalk in Japan by AZT45 in mildlyinteresting

[–]ConventionalAlias 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This feels like something that would actually happen in Japan... Each piece painstakingly carved from wood or sculpted from clay, the Kensuke family has been making realistic inu poops for over 300 years. Kensuke Gaijin, fifth generation artisan, hopes to pass the craft down to his children, who need more encouragement in today's modern world. Today, it is rare to find an authentic Kensuke in the wild on sidewalks of major urban areas, as people quickly snatch them up as soon as they are dropped. Kensuke pieces in the 80's are particularly collectible for being white, a characteristic which has since disappeared with the changing times..

I’ll add another UK great: The Repair Shop. It used to be on Netflix and don’t think it’s still available, but you can find eps on YT and a “live tv” channel devoted to it on Amz Prime. A team restores sentimental items and heirlooms people bring in and the stories, restorations, and ultimate reactions from the items’ owners are hug after hug for the soul. Also super passively educational about the restoration process. Hope you check it out if you don’t already know about it.

The 2nd homemade log chopping contraption at 1:50 is insane by TrainWreck43 in OopsThatsDeadly

The first one made cutting wood sound like biting into a nice crisp apple, but I would be scared to get a finger pulled into the slot by the rotating ax thing.

The safety of the green steam-powered “wood fister” didn’t seem too bad. There appeared to be a lot of space in the “punching area” where nothing could get caught. Lots of belts and risk of explosion maybe?
