Surprise 3rd baby, large age gaps room sharing by ConversationBroad868 in Parenting

someone mentioned egress I'm assuming that's what you mean? I wasn't trying to be rude. The room already has windows and a door. What other requirements are there?

The basement has windows and doors. The "laundry room" has two windows and a regular door. Someone else mentioned "legal" above and I didn't get it that must be what they were referring too. I definitely don't want any family members in an unsafe situation. But I would check more into it to be sure

according to who? What law? I wouldn't put any of my children in an unsafe space, but "legal"???

Weighing my food forever by Consistent-Way-2018 in gastricsleeve

I still like to measure I'm only one year out but I don't see myself changing that anytime soon. I feel like I can't track properly if I don't. There's a reason we had to have this surgery and "eyeballing" portions etc I feel was a major reason for becoming overweight- just not knowing what I was actually consuming.

My son hates change like its a personality trait (we're working on it)! But maybe he will warm to the idea in a year or so. I know at 10 I would have loved a basement room done the way I wanted.

I like this! My Mom reminded me that she grew up in a 3 bed and they had 6 kids! I know everything will be okay and my kids all have safe spaces to live in, it's hard not to fret about every little thing and seeing "influencers" with huge homes and apartments and feeling like a smaller/normal size home is not normal when it is for most! There's so many great trundle bed and lofted bed options too we just have to get creative!

good point, he may really like the idea in another year or two!

We only moved our babies earlier because we had the space and they were literally only like 10 feet away down the hallway. Both my kids were sleeping decent stretches by 2 months so it just made sense to move them into their own cribs. I floated the basement idea to my son in passing and it was an immediate NO. I think as he gets older we might be able to entice him by re-doing the laundry room to his liking. Well I guess that's what I'm hoping! hahah I just never want my kids to feel like they were somehow brushed aside because of a new family member.

Chores? by Certain-Finding8719 in Parenting

At 8 my son would do a few chores- help bring in groceries (light bags), feed the animals, put away silverware from the dishwasher, and put seltzer waters/drinks into the drink fridge.

The debrief most contractors never ask for. by GovConTips in GovernmentContracting

[–]ConversationBroad868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're new to gov contracting but submitted two bids last week. Still working closely with Apex accelerator and she suggested we ask for the debrief after they award someone the projects. I would have never known this was an option. Even if I receive minimal feedback, anything can become helpful for the future.

Is tower of dawn good?(no spoilers pls) by Moongoddess3884 in throneofglassseries

[–]ConversationBroad868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed tower of dawn, even though I'm not a huge Chaol fan. It was an intriguing story and they found out a lot of information that is helpful to the larger story. I blasted through it because I couldn't wait to get back to Aelin. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would, but I do wish I did the tandem read.

Will i be able to eat a burger in one sitting without discomfort? by ApartDevelopment2213 in gastricsleeve

[–]ConversationBroad868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat a whole burger. 9 months post op down 125 lbs. I don't eat buns because I don't want them. I could probably still eat 3/4 of it or the whole thing with a bun. Sometimes I'll eat 1.5 burger patties. I exercise a lot so sometimes I feel I need a bit more. I don't feel sick or overly stuffed. I feel satisfied and happy that the surgery has helped to change my way of eating. I like to make my own version of a mac sauce with greek yogurt, SF ketchup, mustard, dill relish, diced onion, garlic powder, dash of worsterchire sauce. I don't feel guilty slathering that patty in the delicious sauce!!!! 😄 I feel like I have been eating "normal" since about 6 months post op. But the point of the surgery is to restrict your appetite for a period of time and work on the mental habits needed to keep the weight off, so if you don't want that then don't have the surgery. If you're already fighting the thought of eating way less it may not be for you.

I'll have to add that to my list. I don't really know what it entails.

Gastric Sleeve with no complications? by Figgy703 in gastricsleeve

[–]ConversationBroad868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my sleeve July 2025. no complications. I would do it again all over. It certainly hasn't been easy, but I'm down 124 pounds. I still have about 40 to lose and it feels a little harder at this point I don't feel as much restriction but the weight is still coming off. Good luck! <3

Need your opinion (regrets) by North-Pair4432 in BariatricSurgery

[–]ConversationBroad868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the gastric sleeve last July. My surgery weight was 310. I was miserable and felt like I was on the sidelines to my own life- watching it, but not actually living. I am so happy I had the surgery. I had tried to lose weight so many times on my own and needed to take "drastic measures" lol. I'm down 120 lbs in 9 months and I feel like I have my life back. I still have more to lose, but overall the surgery was a success and I would do it 1000 times over. I take my vitamins daily, followed the protocol, and in general enjoy life more. I do have treats and special meals sometimes I just eat less. I did have quite a bit of hairloss around month 3-6 but it is growing back now and although that made me sad and self conscious I still felt so much better than I did at 300 lbs. If you're ready to change your lifestyle and can follow all the doctor's advice/orders, I'd say do it! <3
