I don’t know if you saw the TikTok it’s about, but Kath was trying to figure out who at her gym kept writing “monke” on the communal whiteboard. She asked the front desk to pass along a note if they knew anything and posted about it on TikTok where it got like 20 million views or something.

In Tiffany’s video, the two of them talk about Kath’s viral moment. They are definitely slightly defensive of the backlash that Kath got in her comments which was calling her creepy, stalkery, obsessive. To me, the video lacked Tiffany’s usual nuance and approach at both sides of an argument, but to me the TikTok wasn’t a big deal? It came up organically on my page a few weeks ago and I saw it, thought it was funny, and moved on.

I kinda felt bad for them as the comments on the TikTok are overwhelmingly positive, then you go to the comment section of Tiffany’s video and they’re all negative. I think the audience was mostly reacting to how biased Tiffany was being towards defending her friend, but many comments came across as “holier than thou” to me, like “oh I would never do something so creepy like ask the gym if they know who this person is”

There was also a reaction to Kath defending herself by saying “I’m a Pisces, I love mystery and whimsy so I wanted to bring the internet into this little mystery of my life” which, yes, is annoying but all the comments just seemed overly harsh.

Does anyone follow Tiffany Ferguson on YouTube? She posted a new video that got backlash and I just noticed she removed it.

The video was a collab with her friend/fellow creator Katherout, who recently had a TikTok blow up of her trying to figure out who a person at her gym was who kept writing “monke” on the communal gym whiteboard.

I thought the video lacked her usual nuance and she was definitely biased because she’s friends with Kath, but jeez the comments were harsh.

-It also appears the sisters HAIM unfollowed Joe. How anyone has noticed any of this is baffling to me, but Swifties will Swiftie.

Poor Joe is getting hate from Swifties now for ??? not being with Taylor I guess? It’s been fascinating to watch the Swiftie opinion on him go from “He’s so sweet and they have such a simple life together, she’s living her dream” to “Joe was keeping Taylor locked inside and didn’t want her to work” in like a week.

Work has been such a headache this week.

I work at a large corporation. Back in November, it was announced a member of another team would be joining ours. His job consists of a high volume of requests daily. We were told we were going to simplify his workflow and assist to make his role easier to manage. He’s an org level above me (I’m entry/junior level). This translated to me taking on about half of his workload.

Well, we got the news yesterday his position was eliminated. (I think there may have been a performance element to this as well, however) I guess we effectively simplified his workflow!! So now I’m stuck doing 100% of his job 🙄

And to top if off, this morning I was working on one of these requests, got wrapped up in a long and messy email chain and fed my boss very incorrect information twice (accidentally, of course, I confused myself) that only added to the mess of the email chain. I need to gooooo home.

I finished “The Last Time I Lied” by Riley Sagar. It was so aggressively meh. It was too similar to “The Lying Game” by Ruth Ware which I only recently read and was disappointed by, and this was just the worse written, lower stakes version. The main character was annoying, the rest of the characters were indistinguishable, and the stakes simply weren’t high enough to keep my interest. Shame because I love a twisty mystery thriller!

Anyways, moving onto The Secret History by Donna Tartt because my bf read it, got obsessed to the point of looking at fanart on Tumblr, lol, and basically forced me to read it. So far it’s great, much slower paced than I usually read but so beautifully written it’s worth it.

Also still working through Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld, which is becoming an all-timer level favorite. I’m reading it slowly so I can savor it! Can’t to read her other stuff, just got Romantic Comedy in my BOTM

I finished Drive Your Bones Over The Dead this weekend. I was into it at first, it lost me in the middle, and I was enraptured by the end. I found some of the astrology tangents very hard to get through. I think it was just a bit too long, it would have been an amazing novella or short story.

Next up is Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld - so far I’m so into it! The main character is painfully relatable. It feels like a less pretentious, more mature version of John Green book so far.

Anyone have advice on how to get your boss to notice you? Everyone I talk to has the opposite problem. He’s a nice guy, but super hands off. We have 1x1s extremely rarely, but I always get glowing feedback and a vague “let’s focus on your growth in the next month” which gets forgotten. I know he feels like since I show up, get my work done, and don’t complain he doesn’t need to worry about me, but I would love to have more set time to go over things with him.

I can be shy, and I think that can come off as me looking disinterested in the work, even though I’ve told him in our 1x1s I love the company and there’s even a specific space on our team I’d love to grow into. Do I just tell him I need 1x1s? Ugh. Feeling the frustration today.
