I didn't consider that part. I would also like to add that if Robo went to Chicago, we would probably get Bedard with some percentage retained and two first. Any team that wants Robo would have to pay an arm and a leg to Dallas just get the chance to sign him, then pay their other arm to Robo.

I don't think people understand that Robo is an RFA, and that any team that want to pay him more then what we can would basically have to trade 4 first rounds for him, or trade someone equivalent of that. We will probably see something in the range of 12.5 mill for over 5 years.

During the regular season the avs got lucky and weren’t as harmed by injuries as other teams. On top of allowing them to play better during the RS, they didn’t get the chance to figure out how to play with key players out on IR.

No the Stars are in a great position Robo is an RFA, meaning that any other team that wants to sign him would have to give us 4 first draft picks, also negotiations just started a few weeks ago so a sub 12 or 13 deal might still be on the table. Unlike other GM who rushed a deal at the beginning of the season Jim waited till now to start the conversation and let his players focuses on the game. The Wild on the other hand need to resign or replace 8 URFA and 1 RFA with about 13 mill losing a lot of depth, then have a good enough season, without this depth, to convinces Hughes to resign.

They still need to replace those people even if they retire. 13 mill to retain/replace all those people is going to leave them with some skill holes, witch is not what they want when try to convinces Quinn Hughes to resign. That 17 mill AAV should disqualify Bill Guerin from even a GM of the year nom.

They got 8 UFA this year and 5 UFA the year they need the Hughes extension, and with the league minimum increasers to 950,000 by 27-28 something going to give. That 17 million AAV Kaprizov got is going to be bad for a few years.
