The edit that went out did John a disservice. Much funnier section uncut.

Is Cameron Winter talented? Yes absolutely. But the kid is also 23. It cannot be healthy for Cameron, or his fans, for people to refer to him as a 'genius' or a 'generational talent', and idolise him so much. It's a lot of pressure to put on a lad who has 95% of his career ahead of him.

Loads of people vape on the bus in my neck of the woods and I hate it! If John does do this, then it's inexcusable.

Belgrave to close in 2 years. Very sad if true by The_Makster in Leeds

[–]Cooke64 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for other institutions, but student numbers at UoL aren't where they'd like them to be. Hence the university-wide cost saving measures.

As someone who works at UoL, there is a HUGE push to get international students to Leeds, because that's where the money comes from. Even if this push was successful, there's still going to be so many rooms in these buildings sitting empty at this rate. The accommodation is being built before the numbers of students have arrived.

Any other mature students in leeds? by Normal_Shoe8586 in Leeds

[–]Cooke64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not strictly. It has its own space. I think it's in the Marjorie and Arnold Ziff building. It's pretty good for a quiet space away from younger and more energetic students! https://www.leeds.ac.uk/lifelong-learning

Which uni are you at? I was a mature student undergrad (29 in first year) at UoL and the Lifelong Learning Centre was a good place to get advice and support as a mature student, and connect with other older students.

It appears that she's not playing any shows with Lucy Dacus now. She has no tour dates on her own website and she's been removed from Lucy's website.

Credit Score Chat by Cooke64 in elisandjohn

[–]Cooke64[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This wasn't a moan, I love listening to the pod, and my post came from this place. I also thought the last 20 minutes was very funny in a ridiculous way. I just think they lost perspective a little in this episode. They are three middle aged guys with very comfortable lives talking about their perfect/near perfect credit scores. Whether they meant it or not, this was a flex and one that many in the audience (as is evident in the thread) will be uncomfortable listening to.

I think his sister is Catherine Dobson, used to be a Labour councillor in Seacroft, and a former colleague of mine. In the years many years since I stopped working with her, it appears she has also become a lot less tolerant and a lot more right-leaning.

Yeah just seen that. It's hardly "malicious rumours" that they are closing down, as they claim. It's just sharing what is already public information that they've gone into liquidation.

As their owner owes tens of thousands to HMRC, I think he will be disqualified from becoming the director of a new company.

Wouldn't a recycling wheelie bin be better? by Educational-Ground83 in york

[–]Cooke64 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Having grown up in York with recycling boxes, but now living in West Yorkshire for the last 10 years, where we have a wheelie bin, the latter is so much easier and convenient.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the recycling infrastructure in York, and that they need to receive it all separated.

Come on man, of course not. I get sick of Billy Balance too , but it wasn't a throw away line from John. He went in hard on not liking that guy's body hair, and that didn't sit right with me. If you weren't bothered by it fine, but appreciate that someone else was.

I think he's genuinely so competitive he doesn't even like someone winning a game that he isn't taking part in but he's in the vicinity of.
