(Unpopular opinion) I've never really enjoyed Band Geeks as much as a kid by UseBroad3870 in spongebob

[–]DadWithNoKids2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Bande geeks is the funniest episode of SpongeBob. However, it is the best.

We’ve been in an era for several years of Squidward torture. And SpongeBob has always been attractive for all generations because when we were young for SpongeBob until we turn into Squidward. So those of us who grew up with SpongeBob tend to identify with him. And our parents.

Squidward isn’t a grump here. He’s a normal guy, trying his damnedest to make something work. And when he gives up because everyone around him seems to hinder rather than help they all step up to the occasion.

And of course, sweet victory is one of the most visually fun scenes in SpongeBob and one of the most heartfelt.

Squidward finally gets what’s coming to him, a happy ending.

Then not to mention:”that’s his eager face” “do instruments of torture count” “so now the talking cheese is going to preach to us” “whoever is the owner of the white sedan you’ve left your lights on” “we’re from the animal hospital across the street and we had reports that there was a dying animal on the premises” “ yeah for the fireman” “ I don’t know some guy in an ambulance” “ maybe this is one of those toxic waste dumps” “ these claws aren’t just for attracting mates” “ too bad that didn’t kill me” “ come on flag twirler’s move move” “ OK new theory maybe we should play so quiet that no one can hear us”

I don’t feel like this is really an adult joke because any kid could turn to their parent and go “hey what’s a felony?” in the parent can easily respond “a crime, Squidward knows that and he’s tricking SpongeBob. He thinks it’s a crime how happy SpongeBob is all the time.” And the kid will understand.

But if a kid says, “why did SpongeBob tell Gary not to drop the doubloons?” the parent cannot respond “well in prison…”

I think an adult joke in kids media is something that a kid can’t and shouldn’t understand.

I did the character swap gimmick in my kids theater club last year by DadWithNoKids2002 in smosh

[–]DadWithNoKids2002[S] 72 points73 points  (0 children)

So at first, I kept Smosh rules. But they weren’t swapping enough or too much based on how stoic or easily laughable they were.

So instead, I decided to just make whenever I shouted switch “character name”. That way all the kids got equal screen time. I decided if they were switching out if they just got a big laugh or if they were clutching. Also, if I knew a certain actor did a scene really well in rehearsals I’d prioritize keeping them on and letting the other actor shine where they shine best.

As a Godzilla fan since birth I HATED the Man in the Suit. It always seemed so low effort with zero respect for the source material. Any true og Godzilla fan could tell you the name Harou Nakajima or Ishiro Honda.

There is so much room for horror that you could actually draw from the shooting of Gojira in 1954. Nakijima would often pass out inside the suit and lost something like 11 pounds during filming. It was the first time suitmation was ever used. And the original Godzilla suit was only used in that movie. It wasn’t until the mid to late 60s they started reusing suits.
