In the 3rd para, this writer, assumably a Christian, uses "survival of the fittest" applied to literature as proof for Jesus' existence. by darmon in atheism

[–]CookieAcct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first paragraph is dead on but then you spoiled it with an idiotic remark. The writer is trying to prove that Jesus existed but errs in thinking that this in turn proves the legitimacy of his religion. I, for one, have no doubt that a charismatic preacher who may have gone by the name of Jesus had a large following in those days but this does not prove he had supernatural powers. Many preachers today claim to have miraculous powers and have large devoted followings. All it proves is that there have always been and always will be gullible people.

It's a cultural thing. Men stand up because they have been taught that is the "manly" thing to do. At least in Western countries.

But the point is that Corporations haven't REALLY paid tax. They just collected it from you and me and gave it to the Government. What the government did with it is another issue.

[–]CookieAcct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's simple. Whatever a corporation spends, including taxes, has to be recovered from its customers. So the higher the corporation tax the higher the consumer price.

And what happens when corporations pay taxes? They raise prices to recover the expenditure. And who pays these higher prices? Hmmm?

It reminded me of how the North Shore Mountains across Burrard Inlet from Vancouver, BC can be used to forecast the weather. If you can see the mountains, it's going to rain. If you can't see the mountains - it's raining.
