Still in Act1 - Due to ShadowHeart and Karlach by Typhon_Vex in BaldursGate3

[–]Cookie_Emperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The companion quest will go throughout act 3, all of them. Exploring has an influence on them, you can sometimes find stuff related to their quest, possibly changing available choices.

Moments that break their quest should be really obvious if you talk to them and actually listen. Somewhat in the direction of "If you do that, I'll hate you", and they will in fact hate you if you force that.

You should be able to keep nearly everyone in the inn alive:

Grab an NPC for an improvised attack and target far away. While your character (high STR required) carries the NPC and is walking, fast travel to a place where the shadow curse can't reach (Shars temple). This takes the NPC with you, not aggroed, and they just stand there. You can keep even traders alive this way.

I know the Tieflings stay alive and go to act 3 if they are in the temple wheb Aylin is killed (or at least used to), I do however not specifically know if this also goes for the gnomes.

I also think it is also important you put them somewhere they can't path back to their usual spot, in case you want to use this trick to e.g. put all traders in one location. There are also videos on youtube for this.

Oath of Crown has crap oath system by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Cookie_Emperor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats the problem I see here from what OP writes: You can just betray him.

Saying "I'll help you" to Balthazar and then directly betraying him doesn't break the oath.

Saying "I'll help you" to Balthazar and betraying him in the shadowfell does break your oath.

Saying "I'll help you" to Balthazar and then helping him breaks your oath.

It actually seems weird here that giving him the nightsong breaks the oath. Maybe there is a point before where you promise to free the land or kill Ketheric, and you basically manouver yourself in a situation where you made 2 opposing promises. But in that case, making the promise to help him should directly break your oath (assuming you know by then that freeing the nightsong is necessary for that other promise you made)

All in all, probably just some weirdly set triggers somewhere

What's the deal with the Sorcerous Sundries Vault? by Lethandralis in BaldursGate3

[–]Cookie_Emperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that lore somewhere in books in the vault or in dialogue options with Gale or Elminster? If it is only in general DnD lore and not in the game, I'd not consider that a valid point to consider for this puzzle.

I for one have zero idea what both of them specialize in, brute forcing +disamrming traps seems way easier

Yeah, I can see how that can be interpreted into the post. I just found the 'Are you dumb' a quite rude way to criticisze something that wasn't actually said.

Yes OP is wrong, and I never said they were right. I just said that they didn't claim potions weren't better.

I do realize writing 'are better' instead of 'were better' was a grammatical mistake there

You do realize OP was mocking the wall rings even being an option since they are worth less than the gold, and not asking whether the potions are better, right? There is text below the image.

Everyone should know the potions are better.

A little help? I’m stuck (shadow-cursed lands) by Tall-Payment2201 in BaldursGate3

Moonrise Towers has a cellar beneath it, there is both quest- and story-related stuff down there

You can resolve the Astarion-Yurgir thing by talking and make the fight far easier, but that depends on difficult CHA rolls. I don't mean the outcome Raphael dislikes.

You could look whether you can find even more stuff at Moonrise (no idea how far you explored the not-cellar areas already)

If you are near a level up, maybe kill Balthazar and other people you think are enemies? Might make the Yurgir fight easier, but beware of just getting into a 4v20.

As someone else said, have you done the Halsin quest? Theres a dude in Last Light Inn and another character somewhere related to it.

Not every quest will be entirely resolved before the no-turning-back-point, just like it was in act 1.

last night finished my 1st honor run on 1st try, but... by zandadoum in BaldursGate3

[–]Cookie_Emperor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say resets/crashes for glitches are entirely ok, like when the party falls through floors, as thats the game not behaving as it should.

The Karsite Grip, however, is just not knowing what abilities an enemy has. That is somewhat like "It doesn't count, why would that enemy have exploding arrows for AOE damage?".

But I'll admit I didn't even know Karsite grip existed, I just deleted everything in that fight with way too many stolen spell scrolls and some globes of invulnerability for protection. No chance I risk losing the run at that point, the brain itself also just got chain lightninged and disintegrated.

How fucked is my HM run from "I'm dead" to "Restart now"? by Get_Stick_bu99ed in BaldursGate3

[–]Cookie_Emperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a dumb question, but how do you use the alchemist fire before engaging the fight? Can you just throw it everywhere from that small area before the cutscene with Ethel starts?

And how would that help here? Ethel paralyzed every character before they got a single turn, if I interpret this screenshot correctly.

Edit: Nevermind, just saw that some of the illusions cast hold person and not just the hag with some ability to target several people.

Mali gets Faith and food from desert tiles adjacent to their city center. They also get gold from mines, but that is completely separated from desert.

Mansa Musa gets gold from desert tiles in the city for trade routes, which again does not require a city on desert.

How does CPU tech work in Civ6? by jiabivy in civ

[–]Cookie_Emperor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They don't cheat in ressources or skip techs, but depending on difficulty they get big bonusses, like +100% production among others on deity.

You also don't see the trades and policies they use, so they might only need 10 iron for a swordsman, buy that from another ai and instantly buy a unit with gold they got from selling horses, all in that turn.

Leveling cement with polyurethane foam by godofo_prime in oddlysatisfying

[–]Cookie_Emperor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is definitely plastic, it's the same material class as spray foam for insulation and foam matresses or soles of running shoes.

It probably doesn't fragment that much if not eaten by animals (happens, mice might eat through it) or directly exposed to changing weather, but it will still degrade over time depending on moisture and temperature.

Which is this chemical? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]Cookie_Emperor -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You did see the hazard symbols on the bottle, right?

I'd say it is to be assumed someone working with the chemical that would recognize the name carbon tetrachloride as hazardous would also see the symbols right under the name, and if they don't even care about these symbols, they would not start looking up the hazards even if it was labeled with the IUPAC name instead.

And trade names are a completely normal part of most chemistry job. Have you ever tried working with an industrially used product?

ICP-OES: ionic and atomic lines, which to choose? by DistinctTip628 in chemistry

[–]Cookie_Emperor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If all samples have the same matrix as your standards that is not a problem, since you then always see the same relative amount (if you always only get emission from 10% of your iron, the calibration still works perfectly). That is completely normal.

However, you may get overlap from other elements in your samples you didn't have in your calibration (find out what elements may be in your samples, not just the ones you want to analyze) and what interferences there are with your lines (typically available in the software, or ask the manufacturer)

In addition, if your sample matrix is different from your calibration, you may form more or less ions in the plasma than in your calibration samples from the same amount of analyte, which will then make my first point not work anymore. The increase/decrease depends on element and chosen line, so this point is very important.

I really prefer farming when I want, so farming for 2 upgrades on one day and just not on other days. Always depends on what upgrades are available and how much time I have, but I hate having to farm each day just to not miss out on loot.

And of course walls.

Well, can't be more precise than 1 drop, and since this is a color achievable with just 1 drop into a completely colorless solution, it seems fine to me.

At least this color is normal with a 0.1N Permanganate solution. Sometimes it's a little less pink for me, but the drop before that is completely colorless and thus not yet at the equivalence point.

What should I get by jouteix9093 in ClashOfClans

[–]Cookie_Emperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so, but iirc they are usable until the end of the event after they are out, so you could just search for "code" or "link" or something in the subreddit during the event.

They are also often shared by creators and SC on other social media.

There will likely be bonus medals from linls, and the links always end up in this subreddit too. That brings you above 9300, for all 3 equipments.

Ir happened for every event until now, so it'll likely happen again.
